The MiniLog - Mysteries of Magic & Pristine Potions

Hi everyone. A new build is here!

This build introduces a number of magical changes and additions. When you first look at the spell select screen, you will see that the details of your selected spells now appear in a panel on the right. This panel is similar to the ones you’ll find in the spellbook, as the current plan is to have spellbooks as a means of browsing learnt spells.

At this time, we have three usable spells. First, the magical dash/dodge. The colourful dash/dodge you’ve been using up until now has been implemented as a spell and will cost Arka. It must be selected before being used. For the next update, I intend to add a non-magical dash/dodge, which will act as the default dash/dodge.

Next is the summon light spell. This spell creates an orb of light which follows and orbits the player. Maybe in the future, we'll introduce larger and controllable lights. For now, this will act as our simple toggle light spell.

Finally, I’ve added a magical blast spell. This is an offensive spell, which conjures a bolt of energy. Some basic casting animations are something I’ll be looking into next.

New Loot, Better Loot

Loot chests will now utilize global loot tables, which will make adding to loot chests easier as we get more items. Speaking of more items, there appears to be demand for a means of making direct bodily changes. In response to this demand, I've introduced a number of new body modification potions that are now available as loot from dungeon chests. Including but not limited to; waist size increase/decrease, calf size increase/decrease, thigh size increase/decrease, height increase/decrease, butt size increase/decrease, shoulder span increase/decrease, and breast size increase/decrease. These are purely effect-based items and do not currently provide much in the way of dialog. By next week’s update these items will feature some dialog output and tell you just how much they’ve increased or decreased the given body part by.

I believe there is also some demand for a means of returning the bodily form to its initial state from character creation. I am working on a restorative potion, which will do just that. Adventurers will undoubtedly find it quite valuable. It probably won’t be ready in time for next week, but certainly the week after.

Some have noted how much they enjoy slow transformations over time, such as the feminine fluids of the dungeons. As such, I’ve introduced an experimental “lingering” potion. It’s the only one of its kind at present and it is a variant of the potion for increasing breast size. Simply put, the item applies the new “Breast Expansion” status effect to the player upon consumption, which, as the name should imply, results in breast expansion over time. Consuming multiple of the same potion will increase the status effect duration. If you like this kind of status effect-based potion and would like to see more, or have any feedback on the current implementation, please let me know!

The final potion of note is “HASTE”. This potion has three variants and increases the player's speed for a limited duration. Like the body modification potions discussed prior, this potion can also be found in most dungeon chests.

As items can now add and remove status effects, I thought it would be fun for the calf-size potions to feature a small temporary haste/slow status effect based on whether you take the calf-increasing or calf-reducing variant. Even though the haste/slow effect isn’t the focal point of this item, I could see there being other items which grant you a temporary boost in exchange for physical or mental changes.

Fixes

In the process of adding all these body modification potions, I discovered head size, shoulder span, arm size, posture, and other skeletal-based slider values were not being reflected in the inventory player character preview. This issue applied only to the character when viewed through the inventory character preview window, so if perchance you've been thinking your character looked a little off in the inventory, this may be why. A difficult-to-spot bug which has now been fixed.

Other Changes

In other news, the TLoH 0.16.7-A standalone build was recently released, featuring the long-awaited static exporter and some minor fixes. The system is functional but will be receiving some QOL improvements for the 0.17-A standalone release, in addition to grid requirements, section requirements, and the complex condition building.

Upcoming

Between development I’ve been busy focusing on family and health, but the next build will drop considerably sooner. I will be back here next weekend with the aforementioned additions and some more items. We still have cooking and crafting to get into this month, so I’ll be showing off some new interfaces alongside any other changes.

Thank you all so much for joining me. Until next time~
