The Mini Logs~Project Arkavite [0.16.4-A] - Public Release
Hi everyone~
The first public release of the year has finally arrived, and with it, a tonne of new things to see and do!
The Mini Logs~
There have been quite an extensive number of changes and new additions in the run-up to this release, so if you'd like to take a gander through all the recent dev logs, I've provided links to them down below.
Log 1: Arkavite [0.16.1] - Sweet Dreams~
Log 2: Arkavite [0.16.2] - Levers and Pulleys
Log 3: Arkavite [0.16.3] - Pistons, Platforms, Ostentatious Obstacles
But wait, there's more! This public release incorporates several more changes, in addition to those introduced in the prior 0.16 updates (see above).
New In 0.16.4-A
Shop Room Updates
The shop room discussed in Log 3 now features sets of items to buy, and items have now been valued to make selling meaningful. The economic balance is extremely rough at the moment. Pricing will be adjusted as more items are introduced.
Rift Gates & Elevators
Moving over to the sky island sandbox, the old warp room has undergone some remodelling. A bedroom has been added, as well as a staircase leading down to a couple of elevators. These elevators allow you to descend into the dungeons and test chamber below.
As for the warp crystals that previously occupied the warp room, these have been replaced with rift gates, positioned at points around the map for easy, fast travel.
While we are on the topic of elevators, the "goal room" elevator found in the dungeon now features a blue light, making the elevator easier to differentiate from where you began.
Lighting Tweaks
Throughout development, dynamic lighting has been challenging to get right, especially when dealing with indoor and outdoor environments in the same level. For this update, I have introduced a method I'm testing that allows us to adapt our lighting configuration based on whether the player is detected to be indoors or outdoors. With this in place we can blend between exterior day-lighting, exterior night-lighting, and interior lighting. This can most easly be experienced in the sky island sandbox. Be sure to let me know what you think~
This update should correct issues found in earlier 0.16 updates where night scenes were too bright. As of writing, exterior lighting appears to be satisfactory. I didn't have time to play with the interiors as much as I'd like, but this should be polished by the next major update.
Fixes
Issue where warping between levels while under haste/slow status effects could trigger crash.
Issue where some spawned entities would persist between levels and appear to fall from the sky (it is raining slimes)
Issue where player currency was not being saved.
Issue where escape menu buttons appear above the rest menu if you click the RESUME button in the escape menu instead of using the ESC key.
Issue where the player peen would not undergo any visible changes in size if it was concealed by clothing while the size change occurred.
That's all for now. Thank you all so much for your continued support. If you would like to see more, be sure to follow along. I'll be back with another update soon. I sense magic on the horizon... Until then~
