Controlling Peaks with an Analyzer

Using this analyzer makes it easy to spot peaks in your mix.

Why do I think this is important? Because excessive peaks make your master limiter work much harder than it should. My goal is to keep the limiter working at around -2 dB of gain reduction. However, if your mix contains peaks like the ones shown in this video, the limiter may need to apply -3 to -4 dB of gain reduction just to control them.

An analyzer helps you quickly locate where these peaks occur, so you can fix them precisely instead of relying on the limiter to do all the work.
