Pure Volumetric Clouds! - S K Y 1.9.12

One of Pure's biggest update just arrived! Volumetric clouds bring endless possibilities.
No longer we are limited by 2d skydomes. You know what they say.. no race is the same.

The Mini Worlds

While 2d skydomes are beautiful and great for photography, they only get so far; for some, they don't feel tangible and have no depth. On the other hand, volumetric clouds react dynamically to the environment, working in unison with the rest of the lighting. By blanketing the landscape, they transform the entire map into its own mini-world.

Light properly scatters through the clouds, binding the sky and landscape unifying the mini-world. 2D skydomes update at predetermined time intervals, leaving gaps where light calculations remain static, so some effort is needed to maintain a beautiful look. Volumetric clouds update continuously in real-time.

This establishes a seamless connection between the sky and the ground, where the bodywork of the cars realistically reflect the ever-changing atmosphere from above.

Huge Props to Peter Boese for bringing us volumetric clouds! Pure 3.50 pushes the boundaries by making the game more alive, giving both artists and racers new ways to enjoy Assetto Corsa.

That's about it, see you soon!
