A1.12142
Comments (83)
I am looking forward to Chekhov's immigration lawyer.
Theory: A1.12142 is Moray-21’s bra size (in metric).
Hmmm, but she's not wearing a bra. She's not wearing anything. Can those goopy bits be called breasts? Does she have a navel in some of the panels? So many questions. Also, fun fact, Moray is an area of Scotland, and in Scotland it's pronounced "Murray".
So, what's happening to the comic? With Marten and Claire as separated from the rest of the cast as this, if the comic continues to follow them, it's practically a separate comic. Will the comic be shifting to Cubetown entirely? Is this it for Claire and Marten? Or will there be a comic of Jeph waking up and saying, "What a weird dream?"
It turns out Pintsize is really just Tommy Westphall.
A1.12142 would be a very inconvenient size. If my math is right, that's about 57x81cm.
They have a working printer? Gloopy a.i. girls seem more plausible than a working printer... xD xD xD
Right now they have a non-working printer, plausibility is restored :)
I mean, this is the least worrying mistake to have made. How often is an organization of AIs going to need to print something out?
Moray-21: " 'AI LOAD LETTER'? WTF does that mean? "
just fell off my chair. 🤣
So a Moray unit is saying that their immigration lawyer is eccentric? The mind boggles.
Indeed. Can’t wait to meet them. Or wait for Claire and Marten to meet them.
For Department of Corrections I would think you were always running out of erasers...
...you deserve to be corrected for that.
There's something awfully familiar about this. Kinda reminds me of my days with the department of corrections...
Employee, vendor, or client?
Continuous feed perforated paper with holes for feed spindles on the sides.
Hurrah for old school.
DAMNED YOU MORAY-21!
Looking at the past few strips and realised how chill Marten is with all of this. And I realised how well he compliments Claire with zero chill. They balance each other out well.
I'm not so sure. Zero chill may get very annoyed with max chill when they don't share/understand their concerns. Speaking from experience here.
Moray is going to get reamed for that
Groan!!
Well, at least the print job didn't come directly out of this Moray. (I can't be the only one to think of that possibility. We don't know how the jellybots really work!)
I scrolled down to the last two panels expecting that.
A4
If they were using a standard size, they could have just gotten Moray-4
Hmmm. Would Moray-21 be considered more experienced that Moray-44, being older, or less experienced, being an older model. Computers are weird, as far as experience/capably goes it’s the opposite to humans.
I got sucked into reading old QC (again) and I realised that Steve knows about Cubetown: https://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3055 Did we know that Steve knew about Cubetown?
I noticed that last week and posted about it too.
Claire is going to need a staff. And also some people working for her.
“…and here’s your chief of staff, Roderick. Rod and his staff shall comfort you…”
Perforated dot matrix printer paper.
CVS receipt printer but with metric paper
I don't want to sound mean but I'm really not sure I like where this might all be going. What's always been great about QC is that it's been a group of semi-random indie kids in a somewhat different world. The focus has been on relationships (and butt jokes). Now more and more we have characters who are either close-to or actually themselves capital-I Important people at a global level. Claire's new role is working for someone who is highly likely to create things in the near future that change the whole world. I'm not sure how our group of coffee shop slackers continues to fit in with that.
People grow up eventually. I think exploring implications of the world he's built is much more interesting than 20 more years of the same thing.
Also on the list is to make sure they are using laser printers.
Order one from the doctor up on Station.
And once they get the paper it will turn out to be an ink jet printer which has clogged nozzles because they never use it. And it is out of cyan.
...and only supports the Comic Sans font.
Claire is making a mental list, and automating inventory control for office supplies is on it.
Two is one, one is none.
Claire: Frowns Moray(s): 👉👈
When you printer needs A4, but she orders 4A0, that’s A-moray! When she needs to get cymk ink, but got rgb and pink — that’s Amoray!
It’s almost out of ink, too
Luckily, the Director has options for emergency ink supplies.
N-7 size paper.
Claire will want that on LEGAL size paper! None of that A4 nonsense.
Fun fact: A4 sized paper is actually in between letter and legal sized paper.
Just…. Just tell me the printer isn’t a robutt.
Robutts make a great impression!
Alien Tentacle AI capable of finding the connection between a butterfly's wing flapping and the perfect piece of toast. Still has typical printer problems.
Somehow you’ve managed to stumble upon my VERY specific kink.
About 9 more weeks and we will be at strip 5,000. Wow!
Should we throw a surprise party for Jeph? (shh! don't tell him!)
Serious question -- does the QCverse still have non-sentient computers? Things like inventory management seem like basic automation, unless the computer is sentient and gets obsessed by butts or something. (Pintsize used to be an automated smoke alarm.)
I mean, they have handheld phones, equivalent to ours and they are basically computers, but we have also seen computers in different office settings, the AI rights office where Beeps et al works and the robot jail official also had one I think.
Panel 6 Claire, so sick of this. For the one hundred and eleventh time.
This also proves that regardless of how advanced your AI research is, they still generate paper -_-
Which is good for Claire the librarian who knows what to do with paper.
Honestly, I was a little worried about how exactly the Morays might be print-capable, so the fact that they seem to use at least semi-standard office equipment is a relief.
Thanks for the reminder, Jeph! Ordering more printer paper now…
A few years ago I bought a whole box of paper, figuring it would last me the rest of my life. The downside is that the company now offers me a great deal on more paper every few days.
The lack of paper was intentional. Jelly robots and paper jams don't mix.
“It must be jelly, ‘cause jam don’t shake like that.”
See, showmethemoney.gif works also, showmethelegallybindingcontractwithhealthbenefits.gif
Well, they're moving to Canada, so I'd assume health benefits aren't as relevant.
Seeing how they solve this problem will also be important
My guess is Amazon or whatever the QC equivalent is
If Claire and Marten stay in Cubetown, will the story split in two? Like, a side story set in the QC-verse where they meet Alice and Bembo’s distant ancestors and go on wacky adventures.
It will be exactly like that Gwynneth Paltrow movie where she accidentally walks into a sliding door.

^ Chef’s kiss
The Morays are doing their best
If that's their best, their best won't do. Claire's not gonna take it...
Humanity could be electing the 36th President of Kepler 22b and printer technology will still be a bitch.
I think "eccentric but extremely competent" describes everyone in my life at this point
What they need is an MSP.
She should have written it on a sticky note.
you'll never guess what *else* Moray-21 forgot to order!
Moray-21!
I'm hearing this in the voice of Alan Hale, Jr.
