It's simple, Anh. Hanners is NEVER mean to anyone just for the sake of being mean, or any other reason, for that matter. Your default is Mean Girl simply to establish dominance. The vernacular for it is, "being an asshole." If you intend to change your rep you need to be prepared for it to take a long time. People will remember the nasty shit you did.
I think that's accurate to who she was when we first met her, but it seems to me that she's been behaving very different since she moved to Northampton and started couch surfing at The Apartment. More recently the closest she got to being mean or rude that I can remember - other than to her father, who more than deserves it - was when Yay pranced into Union Robotics and was condescending to everyone, expecting to be fawned on. Even then she dialed it back so much it was not clear that Yay even recognized Anh was being condescending back.
I swear I heard a Bugs Bunny sound effect between those last two panels.
Question for Jeph: Did you accidentally draw Anh behind the table and put the dialoge in after the fact? Or did you anticipate the bit when you were drawing it?

It's not the number but the quality of one's friends. Sometimes you have to leave a place where you don't quite fit to find one you where you do, or to appreciate where you came from I suppose as well? From my 70+ years of experience, all the misery, pain and suffering I've experienced do not make any joy "richer". Being given a gift doesn't make up for being treated poorly, IMO, no matter how grandiose the gesture. The view from a mountain's peak is indeed awesome, but you had to climb up there and then get back down. I want to enjoy the trip as well.
