“Old enough to know better, but young enough to still not do it” I love you Ryan
That is a really good Dave matthews
As a Gen X golf nerd, I am compelled to point out that Michael Jordan was literally the most popular golfer in the world between the eras of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. In the pre-Tiger era, golf was for dorks. It wasn’t cool. Not even a little. MJ literally changed that for popular culture. I guess what I’m saying is, the legendary partnership of Tiger Woods & Nike does not exist without the golf scene they shot for this bad movie. #sportstember
re the Bosko talk: in the very first WB cartoon the character beyond the clear appearance as a blackface character, he has a straight-up offensive minstrel character voice too. really baffling the animaniacs used that design for yakko, wakko and dot
I’m one of those people who loves this movie, one of the first I ever saw. I understand it’s not “good” but the fun sequences are fun and frequent enough for me to stand by it.
Walt Disney’s frozen head is equal to 1 billion of thinking mode in less than a second. Sweet kiss, beautiful basketball. I wanted to show her, my Monstar.

Watched this for the first time a year or two ago with my kids in full and they all enjoyed it. Not surprisingly they barely got through the recent remake.
I wonder if the guys have seen the new Brad Pitt movie “Heart of the Beast”, and if they cried while watching it.
You guys talking about Wayne Knight is so funny. He’s one of the few celebrity interactions I have ever had. My mom’s best friend did hair and makeup for movies as a side gig and Wayne and his wife showed up to her wedding. All I knew him from was Jurassic Park and Space Jam and at the wedding he answered every stupid little question a 10 year old would have about those movies. Also he wore a green tux which I found hilarious. Super nice dude tho
Ben, on the next shadow wolves please comment on the new Jonathan Ames book if you’ve read it. I fucking love it so far. I hope he spends the rest of his life writing these type of stories.
My brother was getting into his teen identity when this came out and it included a heavy...well, let's call it an urban influence. He was so desperate to like this movie solely because of the soundtrack.
Is this the first straight kids movie the boyz have done?
"s-s-s-se-se-se-indentured servitude" had me on the floor
I’m one of those elder millennials that has a soft spot for this movie. I’m sure there are some people who genuinely feel this is a great movie, but the fact that it’s bad is part of its charm. Jordan’s wooden acting , a few good jokes, all the bits with the athletes who lost their skills, the nostalgia, and the jock jams music is enough to get me to rewatch every so often.
I don't have any illusions about movies of this type/from this era being "good" but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them. Jingle All the Way and Batman & Robin are two others which are basically garbage but I still watch at least once a year. At this point I consider Batman & Robin more fun and entertaining than any of the Nolan Batman trilogy, which are arguably "better" and "proper" films
Crazy to hear someone besides Stanger bring up the Incredible Mr. Limpett
i like that movie a lot right up to the point he turns into a fish. A lot like how i like stripes right up till they join the army
Speaking of the NBA, how about that Shaquille O’Neil “proudly” receiving that “Honorary FBI Agent” from Kash Patel. Mask off. Shameless and out of touch. No clue or no care about what is happening. F that guy.
Shaq has been a millionaire since he was like 23 years-old and has been made honorary law enforcement like 3 different times over the last couple decades. I don't disagree with your sentiment but tbh I'm more surprised when rich athletes AREN'T morons with bad politics.
Warners Brothers invited the great Chuck Jones to their lot to view Space Jam and share his thoughts with the animation team who worked on it. Jones stood up and told everyone exactly what he thought of the film. He was then escorted off the lot by security. What a righteous dude.
I work for Chuck Jones!
My dad did the posters for Disney and Touchstone and whatnot and had a fun voicemail he'd play on his work phone when we visited his office. I don't know what movie it was for but it had Bill Murray on it so he has to sign off on it. 99% of actors it's their agents that do that stuff but because he didn't have one the voicemail just went "hey it's Bill..... Looks good to me".
The Toronto Raptors are named that because Jurassic Park had just come out. Not quite like Universal owning the team and naming it that but is an NBA team named after a popular movie
Gabrus suggesting they listen to their own long ep sent me
“I got you a tape of a rap song” b-b-b-barbecue
I had to research this episode a few months ago because I wasn’t sure if I hallucinated that song
Let's play some basketball
Did one of the Monstars sound a lot like Stanger Gorgon or have I just relistened to one too many old episodes?
Yeah, this needs to be longer.
This movie sucks, but Hit 'Em High is an unironic banger
I watched this movie maybe 150 times throughout my life but as a grown adult the talentless NBA player stuff is the best part now. Also I watched this time on the 4k disc with the bugs and daffy commentary. There’s some pretty good jokes in there too. When Jordan announces he’s going to play baseball Bugs laughs and then says “sorry I didn’t mean to laugh at that”
I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now
It took me ages to get this young again.
I love Rodgers’ Tom Hardy impression of Bugs Bunny.
I remember when How Did This Get Made? did this movie a few years back. I was 21 when this movie came out and not a sports fan, so I totally skipped it. Their assessment of this movie is the same as mine - that it’s irredeemably awful. The one genuinely fascinating aspect about this movie is that millennials seem to actually love this feature-length commercial.
This movie and the Star Wars prequels are the real dividing lines between the elder half of the millennial generation and the younger half imo. I remember being genuinely confused in my early 20s when I heard someone on a podcast refer to this as a notoriously bad movie lol
This crap is the Spawn of basketball.
They should've given Wayne Knight's role to John Leguizamo in a fat suit
The Siskel and Ebert review of this is worth watching to see how much they both convinced themselves they loved it
My pick for funniest Looney Tune: the one where Yosemite Sam married a horrible rich woman with an enormous son (who he later tries to murder): https://youtu.be/G-JUTE2o_-I?is=CorUcDAlclogdtLE
In ‘96 my college job was at the Copley movie theater in Boston. Multiplex inside a fancy mall that had something like 10 or 12 small theaters inside. We would tend to get the family movies and when one went big they would put it on almost every screen in there. Given how short this thing was it felt like we would show it 8 times a day on every screen it was on. Back then I was floor ushering, which is basically movie theater janitor. Sweeping up after. Family movies people would get right out this was before people knew there could be after credit bits. So that is a long way of saying that I could be at the end of my days in the memory care unit and some part of my brain could still play you exactly the moment during those credits when Fly Away transitioned to I Believe I Can Fly.
My wife used to work at a very nice resort on the central coast of California. She saw many celebrities there including Michael Jordan. One time a kid glued to his phone ran into Michael and fell over by the pool area and Micheal laughed his ass off!
Was it the shorecliff in Pismo Beach? My sister used to work there ages ago and she had all kinds of celebrity stories.
A Wayne Knight double feature picture show?
Goofy Gophers have to rank high on the ABZ Looney Tunes rankings.
Knowing Horatio Sanz but not Wayne Knight? I feel so old…
Careful guys, too much animal talk will get you a job with the FBI these days
This movie's so unrealistic. The NBA would never shut down their season because a handful of players caught a mysterious illness that makes them bad at basketball.
The real Monstars are the owners.
