I'm behind but found the checkers/chess parody w/ Sean Clements & Ellie Kemper https://youtu.be/fdBM6sQo7m8?is=FWV93Z8WIJQ9TdHj
Minnesotans ARE still salty about the Northstars leaving! Especially to Texas of all places! They still wear Northstars jerseys to games. It’s joined the echelon of Camp Snoopy, and Pluto. It may not technically be the same anymore, but spiritually, we still believe 💫
Gabrus Addbezi comment about his hat and the Richard Scarry Lowley Worm has restored my faith in the Action Boyz...Thank you for your service
Man in the Yellow Hat trick...missed opportunity.
I’m sure The Boyz know about it but in case anyone else is interested there’s a new The Interview with Stallone that came out today. Good stuff. https://youtu.be/ccs-B_nTfZs?is=ugn4GuV2NA-zDET-
It was a long walk to “In Russia, Fockers Meet You!” But worth every step.
Random comment but I am interviewing Dolph Lundgren tomorrow - anyone have a question they'd like answered?
He doesn’t mind talking about the threesomes with the women Grace brought over for them, as mentioned on the Carolla show.
Jon said cyborg and it activated me to replay the lawnmower man episode
TOE PIIIICK!!!
Some guy on reddit counted all the holiday movies ya'll have covered: https://www.reddit.com/r/ActionBoyz/comments/1wn3e0n/actionboyz_holiday_index/
Doin the lord’s work.
Cannot believe they went thru the imdb page of glaser and completely skipped "band of the hand" that movie is like ABZ catnip. I love the movie so much I bought a blu ray rip from Mexico. Hoping they ignored it as a hint that it will be covered one day. If no one has seen it, it was on tubi and prime most recently Def worth a watch
In Russia....Rocky play YOU! 😄
Craig McTavish was the last NHL player to play helmetless. He retired in '98, played mostly for the Oilers and retired with the Blues. He later went on to Coach, and then became a TV analyst. His nickname was MacT, or Mac. Among some classy Canadian youths, “going MacT” or “MacTing someone” was synonymous with having bareback sex. Gretzky wore a goofy looking Jofa helmet his entire NHL career.
My favorite part about the toxic masculinity of the NHL is that Bill Masterton who died as a result of his head smashing into the ice following a check died in 1968. As you note, it was only until the end of the 90's that the last grandfathered no helmet guy had retired. Hell, it took them 11 years after his death before the rule to mandate helmet wearing even passed.
I did a quick scan for details identifying one of the ABZ in this article: https://worldmanual.co.uk/2026/09/22/man-arrested-after-allegedly-pepper-spraying-moviegoer-who-was-using-his-phone-in-the-cinema/?fbclid=IwdGRleAUfjn9wZG9mBWZkaWQWUO5H2AeQvCUQVXO6GkzfQJBCmQ1NJGV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkCjY2Mjg1NjgzNzkAAR4ACUTS3nAW2aT3SVM9DcOPpwLSpEM3_OJFXq_eM5x4P_taJokCtz6aSGnSvA_aem_uTeSqiTv4h_4ERpzSxtsRA
In mutha Russia, dump take YOU!
Slap Shot and North Dallas Forty both mentioned early in the episode. Always hoping to see these show up in a future Sports-tember.
Would love yawl to cover Rocketeer, dressed as him for Halloween in 91, had a paper mache helmet, two empty liter soda bottles covered in duct tape as the jet pack.
Please keep the Paul Michael Glasner films going with “Band of the Hand”. Stephen Lang stars as a Billy Jack like figure
If you want more Stanger takes on this movie: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-dumbbells/id1169289521?i=1000558124023
ok was anyone else thinking of M.C. Gainey for this entire episode instead of D.B. Sweeney
RIP Bald Bryan.
Partially filmed in beautiful Hamilton, Ontario at Copps Coliseum—new home of the Islander’s AHL affiliate. ABZ fans might appreciate this weird hockey documentary from 2004 about a semi-pro Quebec team that mainly gets in fights https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1pIObLsbKZc&ra=m
Love me some D.B. Sweeney. Would love to see Action Boyz do No man's land the D.B. Sweeney and Charly Sheen proto fast and furious.
I’m not a Stars fan but I really want that North Stars jacket he wears a few times
I also remember this movie having a big marketing push and I feel like whatever box office success it had was fully on the strength of the fingerpainting joke which was in the tv spot.
I will say one of the first celebs I ever saw when I moved to LA was DB Sweeney. Presumably he lived in the West LA area because he was at the bar Sonny McLeans a few times in Santa Monica. I remember one time they did a fundraiser for a waitress who got sick and they had multiple celebs show up and bartend for short stints but DB Sweeney was legit putting in work behind the bar for a while. Good guy!
I hope yall can experience a Stars game and see how MAGA the crowd looks
A kid in middle school with a hacked cable box would tell us about movies he watched over the weekend and would always add sex scenes into his descriptions. In his version they showed full frontal in a sex scene in The Cutting edge. Weirdly never saw this until this past weekend. Can’t believe that kid lied about this movie too!
His other big embellishment was for the Kevin Bacon movie He Said She said which according to him stopped just short of showing full penetration
I squealed a little bit when Rodgers gave the wink to covering Fire in the Sky soon! Love that movie ever since I saw it too young and it traumatized me!
That's one of my favorite alien movies. I think that plus Communion with Christopher Walken is a great double feature
D.B. Sweeney in his red figure skating shirt looks so much like a beck bennett character
Checking is usually prohibited in bar league hockey. No sick time at the factory if you get slashed. Thanks Rodgers, I’ll never love the Wild like I loved the North Stars.
In an alternate timeline, D.B. Sweeney is in Stanger’s chair, and Action Boyz is on The Ringer family of podcasts.
I hate that timeline.
FMK: DB Sweeney, Sydney Sweeney, and Sweeney Todd
Can we throw in Julia while we're at it? Or to make things more interesting, Julia Sweeney, and then Julia dressed as Pat.
You ever toe your pick in Poughkeepsie?
To this day if you trip or stumble in front of any member of my family we will say "toe-pick"
A blatant rip off of Blades of Glory!
It’s a shame Moira Kelly wasn’t in more. I think she was super traditional RC and didn’t like Hollywood. Whenever someone mentions this film my brain instinctively answers “toe-pick!” due to having taped it and/or borrowed it often thanks to a childhood crush on her.
She’s fantastic replacing Lara flynn boyle’s character in the twin peaks movie. I prefer her version of the character, even. ALSO - she’s from Long Island too! Just like Hollywood’s top Sweeney.
Snort laughed at "number of the beev". Thank you Action Boyz!
