The bullet hit her gun, not her helmet! She says “my gun!”. I rewound it bc I was confused why her gun wasn’t working Great ep love the gym and yoga talk

I know I'm late to the comments, but I wanted to ask Rodgers if he's read Charles Grodin's autobiography 'It Would Be So Nice If You Weren't Here'. I'm reading it right now and it's hilarious. Highly recommend it.

I was under the impression that the reason why Alejandro did the crotch thing to the guy they were interrogating was because the cartel cut off his dick when they tortured and killed his family. Also Gabrus, my dad who was born and raised on Kauai calls the aloha shirts. 🤙

Would love to hear The Action Boyz review The Mean Season (1985), I think Ben would love how it looks. Kurt Russell, Miami newspaper in the 80s. Looks like it inspired the first season of true detective stylistically.

Thought I was watching Ridiculousness with that opening! Can’t stand that show! Love the Boyz, tho!

Funnily enough,I had the same initial thoughts as Gabrus about Dungeon Crawler Carl. I was heavily resistant to it. Changed my mind entirely by the end of book 1. Princess Donut for the win!

I know so many people who LOVE Dungeon Crawler Carl. It's definitely catching fire fast.

When I was in country, we called guys who wore Brolin’s style “tacticool”

Thinking about that old critics book lamenting movies and how movies caused trump. Something similar was on my mind when I last watched Network and they call Faye Dunaway’s character as being from the “bugs bunny generation”. She’d be a contemporary of him.

The quick cut to Stanger in the middle of a great Siskel and Ebert segment is why I pay for this. Every time I watch S and E on YouTube from now on, I'm gonna laugh thinking of Stanger just sitting there in the middle and never talking.

Gabrus mentioning that he was going to see The Furious made me pause the episode and get tickets for it. The plot isn't amazing, but it's such a fucking good time! The trailer had me when Xie Miao hits a dude with what looks like a variation of the mikazuki geri with steel toed boots. Very excited to hear Gabrus' thoughts on it.

I am curious to hear what Gabrus thinks of the Dungeon Crawler Carl books. I'm half way through the 3rd book and I think I'm going to bail? But it is like a 51/49 decision. I've never been so wishy washy with a book or series before.

I'd love it if every Shadow Wolves ep would end with a quote from the Maharishi.

S

The boating video is just so fucking funny. I laugh every time I see whether its the actual video, a super compressed gif, or whatever. The documentary Stanger was referencing was Bring Me the Beauties: A Model Cult and its on HBO Max if anyone cares.

Obsession and Backrooms are fuckin tight, it's crazy how well made they are on every level.

This episode has been entertaining me during colonoscopy prep night. Which feels both like something not to share. And also like something to only share in a Shadow Wolves comment thread.

Hope it goes great! I just turned 45 a couple days ago and I have mine scheduled in 2 weeks.

Concerning the creep asking about the braid: I have a strategy I’ve developed because I am…I dunno. Confrontational perhaps. It’s a great way to not come off as another creep. I go up to the guy and ask him to spot me, and then I ask him for tips on form. They never find a new way back into talking to the woman. And I fluster them by keeping to/gesticulating at my rest timer on my watch. 2 weeks ago was the last time and on the way to my car the woman being hit on came up and didn’t say anything about the other guy, but started talking to me for the first time ever. And now we are having coffee tomorrow.

The boat video is comedy gold but it's always bugged me that nobody has realized the boat (driver) is the handcuff-briefcase guy from Ronin!

D
Dar and Gwildor Krishna · June 24, 2026

Oh nice. I watched Batman '89 on my birthday yesterday. It was a good way to get my family out of the living room.

C
CrindleSlawson · June 24, 2026

The scene with Benicio shoving his crotch in the guys face during interrogation. My last viewing now has me convinced he rapes him in some way due to the sound editing when we cut away to the drain, and of course what is said. Thoughts? Specifically about this sound transition.

H
HDP · June 25, 2026

I think he rapes him. Someone sees him with the water, he sets it down, shoves his crotch into his face, cut to a dry drain where you expect to see water going down - but there’s no water. These guys torture beyond waterboarding. Male on male rape to strip someone of their masculinity and dignity as torture isn’t exactly uncommon. Very well-directed and edited to where it’s not exactly clear, but to me that’s the thing the cinematic language is implying.

S
Shmomar · June 24, 2026

Why tf would anyone care if these boating dipshts are okay? ‘Sicario’ is in my top 5 for movies. Yay!

H

Villeneuve is my favorite director. Incendies is my favorite of his. Love the themes he works with. Master of tension.

Joe Dirté · June 24, 2026

If you haven’t seen Villeneuve’s French-Canadian work, check it out. Especially, Polytechnique (shot in English and in French but I recommend the French cause it’s the actors’ native language) which is about the 1989 school shooting in Montreal. Edit/ there’s a golfer named Jimmy Stanger who kind of looks like Rhino, any relation? I like seeing his name on the leaderboard.

In a slightly longer clip, the girl in purple has it shitty from the start. She wedges her hand in the seat cushion but damages her fingernail. You could see her checking her hand and wincing in pain.

E
Embarassimilitude · June 25, 2026

Not to nitpick, but that’s Dodgers’ blue, it’s pretty close to purple though. Easy mistake.

Secrets Revealed is really fun but the Dennis Quaid Religious mysteries one called Holy Marvels is an insane watch as well

Gabrus, your comment about the mathmetician in Disclosure Day not doing any actual math was the last straw to get me to comment this: you have to READ, not watch, The Expanse. It has everything going for it, but maybe most of all that almost every character that matters is a competent professional that uses their mastery of their field save the day, or alter the fate of humanity in some way. My favorite example is an engineer who spends most of the series as a ship's chief mechanic, before using her mastery of logistics to engineer a battle that cripples a far more advanced empire. It's written in the same perspective style as A Song of Ice & Fire, and it's a finished story, 9 novels and 8 novellas. The audiobooks are considered excellent and all read by the same narrator. The TV series is good, it's what hooked me, but the fifth and sixth seasons are a drastic drop in quality, and on top of that there's no guarantee the series will ever be finished in that format. Sorry if this comment is formatted insanely, it's my first rodeo.
