I have first hand experience of being worked out by old dudes. Specifically 60 year old Vatos from Michoacán in pearl snaps and jeans whooping my ass at chores in blazing summer heat. It's humbling to say the least.
Tbf I would never wipe dog shit off my arm only using a wet wipe either.. That’s a soap and water situation
Rogers..correction...you need to be in the corner to get the spotlight....you go automatic spotlight and you're talking to Keaton and Ruffalo for something you didn't do or witness. Just looking out for you. Tell Gabrus and Stanger I said waht up...aloha
Just like my abuelita used to say..que ti postes personas ahh se como ahhhh recomendir para esta ahh ahh show?
The guys didn’t talk about this—which surprised me—but Walter Huston breaks the fourth wall in the film. Was that the first example of a character breaking the fourth wall in cinema history? https://youtu.be/zQVyuSdIkhU?is=ss7UpN2669nnIdCJ
I thiught I discoverd a Beach Raven, but it was just a Seagull" (paraphrased) from Stanger got me good 😄 May have to steal that
I love that you guys are doing older movies!
Nice to see The Boyz cover classic black and white movies. There are so many future possibilities. Stuff like The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon and The Third Man would be great Action Boyz fair.
I would definitely shell out more gold for Noir Boyz
Any Les Claypool fans here? Just saw him a few nights ago. They show clips of this movie during set break. I’m know Stanger’s kid is a fan. Curious if he went to this tour.
Stanger, your dad’s a good man for taking care of his mother. My dad did the same with his. My uncle never visited, but demanded his share of the will. After years of warning, Grandma took a cab to lawyer and videotaped herself writing him out of will.
I know we're complete strangers, but I did a little fist bump on behalf of your Grandma.
Love this movie. Glad the boyz stretched their era mandate to cover it.
Really sorry to hear about horny grandma.
Shoutout to Rodgers’ fantastic curation. Always unexpected, rarely sets up big expectations, always takes a left turn before things get repetitive. Just very well done 🥂
Gila, monster, WOO!
That's So Beach Raven
Music video directed by James Cameron for Bill Paxton’s band: https://x.com/ghoulbasement/status/2069237350111060135?s=46&t=VplHPFcPhlepL_n5OCGXWw
A Classic movie, And the Action Audio Pros F**king Killed it. Fantastic ep ///Iction Boys
Bogey’s been one of my top celeb crushes since high school, how dare you question whether he is attractive
Fantastic episode. I would love it if the guys did more classic films now and again. I'd flip if they did Errol Flynn's Adventures of Robin Hood. And I was a chucker who scored most of the time.
Anybody else wanna hear the boyz cover a movie from the 30’s? Little Caesar? Original Scarface? Angels with Dirty Faces?
Or the 20s! Has there ever been a greater action star than Keaton?
I know it’s parasocial but I was worried about you guys. Anyways, I’ll release the hostages now
There’s an old Looney Tunes cartoon called “8 Ball Bunny” where a Bogart-esque character keeps saying to Bugs Bunny “Pardon me, but could you help a fellow American who's down on his luck?" Funny to think about it after all these years, but I finally know what it was referencing.
Another reference to this movie in Weird Al’s UHF. The Mexican dude who has a brief scene with a bunch of animals says “Badgers?? Badgers? We don’t need no stinkin’ Badgers!” Had no idea what the fuck that was supposed to mean when I was a kid.
The fight was realistic except they went for the legs grab like 4 times haha
Goddamn yeah I definitely noticed that too but it made it feel more realistic for me.
¡Los Niños de Acción!
Does anyone remember the animated short that Showtime used to run that uses this movie as audio? It was wild. It had a dentist blasting gold fillings out of a patients mouth. Crazy ending too.
God//Dog. I love you Christine
ACTIVATION PHRASE ACCEPTED.
Anyone else get Gabrus vibes from Tim Holt? The smile and eyes definitely made me think Gabrus a few times.
A nice follow up would be the Eastwood movie "White Hunter, Black Heart" where Eastwood basically plays John Huston
Also recommend Walter Huston’s final role, “The Furies.” He basically plays an evil version of Howard that somehow you still root for.
She treasured my balls until I sierraed her madre
Recommendation for a future ep: The Asphalt Jungle, another great Huston film that is the midpoint between this and Kubrick's The Killing. Rivals this in terms of great performances in one film.
The Action Boyz are the real treasure.
2:15? I feel ripped off getting these sub 3 hour episodes. Kevin, edit that back in.
Still longer than the movie at least
Crazy to hear the Boyz talk about me!
I thought it was Beat Raven
Is this where I tell The Boyz that in 2005 I was involved in the full gut remodel of the OG Gold’s Gym on Pacific Ave in Venice? One of my many fun duties was to scrape off the stucco someone had put over the logo/sign that was painted on the building. Arnold stopped by and took a tour. I got to talk to him about how I met him in 1992. IDK. Just glad this episode posted. https://architizer.com/projects/1006-pacific-ave/
This HAS to be the earliest use of “what’s up?”in a movie Right?
End the goon sesh!
It's fascinating watching three men set out on a venture, slowly driving themselves insane through mistrust and mutual incomprehension, only to end in disaster. Also this week's movie is pretty good too.
Wait
I was gonna send Truck Turner out to find y’all. Better show up on time if you know what’s good.
Going from the banger that is The Hidden to legit one of greatest films ever made. What an absolutely outstanding month it's been for the Boyz!
I was bizarrely getting *actually* kinda worried lol. After years of ridiculing dorks, I promised myself I'd never reach this type of parasocial relationship. But, well, here we are
Lmao don't they record them well in advance anyways
Thank goodness I was getting worried
*Walter Houston Dance*
Dude could hambone with the best of em
