๐Ÿšง CC CAS Override - The Big Day Collection by Caio x Serenity -- Remember I said I had my eye on something?

This set looks* quite pretty, but some of these PartFlags are just... "no."

I doubt I'll screenshot every item.

I will add screenshots later. I'm taking some "me" time - nomming and playing with dinosaurs. ๐Ÿฆ•

F.Y.I. Overrides don't work without the original items, so this isn't me re-hosting anything. Also, I'm not against "reaching out" and explaining what's wrong and why, I simply don't always have the time or patience to do so.

โ‹†โ‹… EXTRA BOOTY:

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ BUGFIX for Our Broken Bodies - Update 7/23/2024 broke everyone!

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ BAND-AID for Our Broken Underwear - Update 10/22/24 broke something.

โ‹†โ‹… ISSUES WITH BOTH CONTENT RELEASES:

  • Veils are improperly flagged as HAT TYPE "Brim". โŒ

    • "Brimless" is more appropriate.

    • This is minor but I like proper organization.

  • A custom DISPLAYINDEX across both releases. โ“

    • As long as this follows some logic, I'm fine with it, but I don't have anything else from these two creators yet to verify if this follows a pattern or if it's random - in the sense that they just used a random DisplayIndex for this specific release. I personally prefer a DisplayIndex specific to the creator, but I'm fine with incremental fine-tuning for content releases.

  • The use of EXCLUDEPARTFLAGS on dresses. โ“

    • I love ExcludePartFlags when they're used properly. I use them on my Wearablesโ„ข.

    • There are a bunch of ExcludePartFlags at play here - on Caio's side they hide Shoes and some accessories, and on Serenity's side they hide Shoes, Lower Body and some accessories. Hiding Shoes means that when you're walking, you won't see shoes. With long dresses this helps with some of the clipping that occurs. It just looks odd if you're paying attention to it.

    • One of Serenity's dresses - the Rosalind dress - is missing all ExcludePartFlags. I assume this was unintentional.

  • There's some mesh "tearing" around the bottom of a couple of the dresses when walking. I'm just pointing it out. It doesn't bother me that much.

โ‹†โ‹… ISSUES SPECIFIC TO CAIO'S RELEASE:

  • Improper RESTRICT OPPOSITE GENDER flags everywhere. ๐Ÿ’€

    • ROGender flags are a plague that !@#$s with transframe sims.

    • Male sims with Feminine Frames have no access to these items.

    • Female sims with Masculine Frames will experience horrible spine deformities due to EAxis' continued refusal to fix our broken bodies, all because they are locked into wearing items that don't match their Physical Frame.

โ‹†โ‹… ISSUES SPECIFIC TO SERENITY'S RELEASE:

  • Unnecessary RESTRICT OPPOSITE FRAME flags everywhere. โŒ

    • This is fine by EAxis' standards, but I don't follow EAxis' standards. I match Gender (Sex) flags with Fashion Choice flags and no ROGender or ROFrame flags (where applicable) so that everyone has the choice to wear whatever they please.

โ‹†โ‹… SEJIFICATION - A LIST OF FIXES:

Where ROFrame is concerned, there are some YA items where it should always be used, e.g. Hair, Necklaces, Fingernails, Toenails, Feet, etc. because those items are often Frame-specific and cause unnecessary frustration if not ROFramed. However, with Top, Bottom and Full Body clothing, you know what you're wearing, so it's unnecessary.

STUDIO - AGE AND GENDER:

  • No modifications needed.

  • All items properly flagged "Female" and "Adult", "Elder", "Teen" and "Young Adult".

STUDIO - AGE APPROPRIATE:

  • Added "Adult" to Caio's veils.

  • If an item isn't AFRandom enabled, I usually remove all randomization flags, but I fixed these instead.

STUDIO - FASHION CHOICE:

  • Removed unnecessary "Masculine" flag from Caio's veils.

  • As stated, I match Gender (Sex) flags with Fashion Choice flags. This is because the Gender (Sex) flag usually matches the Frame the item was made for. I don't care about "fashion stereotypes", I care that you know if what you're wearing was made for the Physical Frame you're using, because mismatched Frame and clothing leads to what? Severe spine deformities because EAxis refuses to fix our bodies.

STUDIO - OCCULT:

  • Removed all Mermaid flags.

  • These flags are the reason EAxis' Body Scars randomize onto Occult sims even though AFRandom is disabled on those items.

STUDIO - OUTFIT TYPE:

  • Standardized across all items.

    • Everyday

    • Formal

    • Party

    • Situation

STUDIO - COLOR PALETTE:

  • Removed from Caio's dresses.

  • One of these days I must dig around and find out if this is actually useful in any situation.

STUDIO - FABRIC:

  • Standardized across all items.

    • Synthetic

  • I don't see a reason for these flags.

STUDIO - ARCHETYPE:

  • No modifications needed.

  • Never really used for clothing. I must try it sometime and see what happens.

STUDIO - STYLE:

  • Standardized across all items

    • Festival - Romance

    • Romantic

STUDIO - VAMPIRE STYLE:

  • No modifications needed.

  • Usually only used for vampire-themed clothing.

STUDIO - COLORS:

  • INVESTIGATING...

STUDIO - HAT TYPE:

  • Replaced "Brim" with "Brimless" on all veils.

STUDIO - SUB PART TYPE (FULL BODY):

  • No modifications needed.

STUDIO - PART FLAG - ALLOW FOR RANDOM:

  • No modifications needed.

  • All items are AFRandom disabled.

STUDIO - PART FLAG - RESTRICT OPPOSITE GENDER:

  • Removed all ROGender flags from Caio's items.

STUDIO - PART FLAG - RESTRICT OPPOSITE FRAME:

  • Removed all ROFrame flags from Serenity's items.

WAREHOUSE - DISPLAY INDEX:

  • To be revisited at a later date, maybe.

WAREHOUSE - EXCLUDEPARTFLAGS:

  • INVESTIGATING...

WAREHOUSE - NAME:

  • None of these items are properly named but it's not important because the name does not affect the item.

โ‹†โ‹… THERE ARE REASONS FOR ME DOING THIS:

For starters, I like highlighting other creators' work. It's part of my "simmer first, creator second" mentality. I can't do that if the items are "a PartFlag disaster" and I don't just want to tell you "hey, you've gotta fix it yourself".

Not everyone wants to mod, y'know?

Secondly, I am trying to influence the community to have better PartFlags, even if it means irritating folks by overriding their !@#$. I'm already dealing with this nonsense from EAxis, I don't need it in the custom content too.

The problem is that this misinformed understanding of ROGender and ROFrame was widespread at one point. but there are numerous creators who don't use them because I assume they understand the issue.

Third, it irritates me that Sims4Studio continues to not include Batch Fixes for these things when the utility is... well, it- it's bloody obvious, innit?

I admit, there is some frustration behind me doing this, but a lot of my modding is in protest of something, so this fits right in.

Creators are within their right to flag their items however they feel, whether it's due to a misunderstanding of those flags or "some other totally valid reason", and I am within my right to override said items and fix their improper PartFlags.
