โข๏ธ Curseforge and Electronic Arts - A short rant and a note on UIC, BBB, XML INJECTOR, and ๐พ CurseFire!
THIS IS A RANT. YOU'RE WELCOME TO IGNORE IT. I DO THESE THINGS FOR PERPETUITY. THE NOTE ON THIRD-PARTY MODS AND CURSEFIRE IS AT THE END.
Do you know what our "Game Version" is right now?
It's PC: 1.111.102.1030 / Mac: 1.111.102.1230.
One of those two is what you'll see when you open "GameVersion.txt" in your TS4 USER FOLDER depending on what OS (Operating System) you're using, and it's what you'll see on the most recent Update Notes - https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/news/update-12-3-2024 - where EAxis talks about SDX, yet I have no SDX in my SDX folder, which means it was patched in with Update 12/3/2024, if it's there at all - I haven't checked.
Curseforge is not a Sims-focused website, nor it is maintained properly.
How can I say this?
Well, as a creator uploading to Curseforge, I have to tick some boxes - literally, I have to tick some boxes - to state which "Game Version" my mod is for and if it requires a specific "Content Pack".
Regularly I'll find - it has happened a few times now, including the first time IIRC - that neither the "Content Pack" list is updated if a new pack just released, nor is the "Game Version" list updated. It's the latter right now.
I have to tag all updates as "1.110.311" in order to get them through the gate, and in another few days I'll have to edit all of them to tag them for the correct "1.111.102".
Peas in a !@#$ing pod. That's what Electronic Arts and Curseforge are.
We have TWO (2) Sims-focused websites that have been around for almost half of my lifetime in the form of "Mod The Sims" and "The Sims Resource". They have each existed for at least TWENTY-SOMETHING (20+) YEARS!
Why wasn't one of them endorsed by Electronic Arts as the central modding hub for the Sims franchise? Sure, MTS could use an overhaul, but Electronic Arts could've financed that.
I assume it's money, and y'know... the other thing, 'cause if you haven't noticed, you ain't heard a peep from Electronic Arts about it, have ya? Unlike Overwolf*, Electronic Arts knows how to keep their mouth shut about certain things.
โโ CONCERNING THE THIRD-PARTY MODS:
The Neurodiversity Patch for "UI Cheats Extension" v1.45 is complete, and I'm splitting the "Neurodiversity Patches" post.
"Better BuildBuy" itself might be outdated but it appears TwistedMexi is inactive at the moment. So, if you're encountering errors, you'll have to live without it for a while.
XML Injector has been updated for Update 12/3/2024 - https://scumbumbomods.com/xml-injector
โโ CONCERNING CURSEFIRE:
I did a thing, so if I vanish abruptly in the dead of night, you know why! ๐น
And in case you're wondering, Curseforge doesn't jive fully with these types of SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES - no one does - but awareness is important.
