The insta360 pole is real now, with tiny planet built in and works on any car
Sorry this one took so long. After a lot of development, I finally got where I wanted. The Insta360 was an idea I had way back at the start of the camera mods, and now, thanks to CSP, I can do it the best way possible.
The tiny planet up top was shot in Assetto Corsa, at Spa-Francorchamps.
The pole is real now
That was the hardest part, and the most fun.
Anywhere on the car: you can mount the pole wherever you want, and it adapts to the car's lines automatically. It's still being improved, but it already works really well. Encrypted cars still give it trouble. I'm working on that.
Physics: it works really well in real time. In replays it works well too, as long as the car is yours. On a second car (remote car) the physics doesn't behave the way it should. That's a CSP limitation for now.
Features from the real Insta360
Once all of that was working, I decided to go further and dig into the real Insta360. I don't own one, but I found some interesting features:
Tiny planet: you know the effect that turns the world into a ball? It's built into the app now.
FOV: also in the app. It's what distorts the camera and gives you that fun look.
Invisible pole: the pole sways exactly the way the camera does, so you can hide the pole and leave just the mount (the suction cups) on the car.
Coming soon
An app like PhoneGyro is on the way. You'll be able to record or move the camera in real time without having to keep jumping into the game.
Thanks
Thanks to mkelite and Dattrius for testing it, and to roadk1ll7, who made the 3D model of the camera. And thank you all for the support, as always.
Privacy: from version 1.4.2 the russozl Hub sends us a short report when one of our mods or the hub fails on your PC (the error, the lines before it, the versions, your Windows build and graphics driver), and our apps' logs when we ask for them. It never sends your files, saves, passwords, licence keys or your Windows user name. Error reports and logs are deleted from our server after 60 days. It is always on; uninstalling the hub stops it.
