Gavin & Stacey - S2E4 - House Hunting

My then girlfriend, now wife and I, were shown around a bad house once. No upstairs toilet or bathroom. Downstairs toilet, really tiny room without a sink. Shower hose under the kitchen sink. The estate agent said, don't worry, you just have a toilet and then wash your hands in the kitchen sink. No thanks.
Who eats corn on the cob long ways! Brilliant!
You do have a look of Jeremy Renner about you Mike
Lovely , tears of laughter and joy . Thank you ❤️
I know this is old and you've seen this a long time.Ago , but rob brydon is genuinely funny comedian , and a really good actor is part of the reason he got the part as host of what I like to yoy
Just for a fun fact...Smithy's sister in this when she is arguing with Smithy does the accent and uses the same characteristics as a character called Lauren in a comedy sketch from the Catherine Tate Show....The actor that plays Gavin "Mathew Horne" is part of that sketch and works with Catherine Tate on her show as the Grandson of the rude Nan. Catherine Tate is one you could react to later on. She also done the offensive translator, i'm sure you reacted to that lol
The Hawkeye reference had me crying with laughter i’d never seen it until now but all i see now when i look at mike is jeremy renner 😂
Nice shirt Mike 😉🫵
pls watch the christmas specials!!
I’ve been waiting for this episode it’s one of the best 😂😂😂 when Jess loses it, I lose it 😂
Who eats corn on the cob long ways?? You 2 crack me up 😂😂
The Estate agent is Mr poppy 😂, from one of my kids favourite xmas films, Nativity
I think it might be my favourite too. Especially love wee Bob’s breakdancing 😂
o man, i had the same little car Gav drives but in red as my first car ! ah good old memories
Can't beat a bit of R Kelly...... Bump n grind lol :-)
Track shuffle timing 👌
Just realised smithy had sawdust all around his eyes meaning he was never actually wearing the goggles whilst working 😂😂
The next episode is my favourite. I can't wait until next week 😁
Loving the couch
Mike clearly never used a planer without a vacuum.
LOVING your reactions to Gavin and Stacey.
pam's reaction to mick's segment on the news is used fairly frequently as a meme lol
One of my favourite parts of starting this is seeing all the memes I had no context for before lol
My favourite episode is coming next week :)
Day 1 of asking for People Just Do Nothing
The amount of times my husband says in response to many situations “it’s just not what you expect to see when you get to to work” bc of this episode 🤣
Just remembered that people was using the clip of Pam saying "is that it?" after the eclipse the other week 😂
🤣the other funny one was Kurtan from this country “what a waste of time so f-king boring”
As a Welsh person I can confirm. "Filth!" The lot of us.
It was when Pete brings up the subject of oven gloves with the other men that got me interested in the show. I hadn't watched it before and thought it was such an unexpected scene that I was hooked! 😄
lol I know someone who got into the show because of the exact same scene! That scene borders on absurd. And that's why it's so brilliant. Why on earth would they write a scene about oven gloves? And the longer it goes, the more absurd it feels. Absolutely hilarious.
The ending of this episode is one of my favourite scenes 😂 so glad you’ve got to it
Marc Wootten, who plays the estate agent, is a comedic genius btw. He did a show called My New Best Friend that I'm pretty sure I'm the only person that watched. It was a reality/gameshow where he played a character pretending to be someone's new friend and the aim of the show was the person had to pass them off as that friend to win money at the end. Genius. He does a lot of work with Julia Davis (Dawn) as well which is nice.
I always thought they cast stacey perfect if you're supposed to hate her, shes such a brat.
Yes, she is being a mardy bugger and annoying but she is in turmoil emotionally and Gav is not picking up on the extent of her confusion . She's experiencing Hiraeth.
You both probably saw James Corden and Rob Brydon first as hosts of talk/game shows, but nowadays that's usually something you get to do after a few years of acting or stand-up. At one time, it was a separate strand of work and the two didn't really mix (like the scenes with Keith Chegwin trying to act in Extras).
That's Matthew baynton who you don't like, character that is. He's superb in horrible histories. You might bump into him again at some stage.
He's in the new Wonka as is Johnson, Big Suze, Dobby, Olivia Coleman and Phil Wang. Also your name sake, Johnny English himself.
You say about rob brydon being a host but James Corden a pretty big host in US, his car pool karaoke is brilliant and worth a watch even if not for Reacting to.
Genuinely loving these reactions every week, cannot wait for you to hopefully start Car Share and Outnumbered too! Car share is one of Peter Kay’s best work in my opinion
14:00 AYOO??? 😂
My mate bought the actual car. This is him on the Sun website, trying to sell it haha https://www.thesun.co.uk/motors/5034412/iconic-blue-citroen-from-gavin-stacey-is-up-for-sale-and-it-could-be-yours-for-just-6500/
Nice.
Still don't get why people say Bryn is gay "Iv been watching, brokeback mountain" Yeh....... its a good film......
He's not gay the joke is that he comes across a bit funny
Men behaving badly for me. Haven't seen for years.
Not the first serious though, or they won’t watch the second.
I'm not surprised that flat is all they can afford, Essex is expensive 🫰
Out numbered and fresh meat should be your next tv series
That's the Welsh for ya. Filth, the lot of them
As Jay Cartwright also says in the inbertweeners 😂
There’s a great bit behind the scenes when they filmed the bowling scene and Ruth Jones (Nessa) was struggling to hit a strike. At one point after she bowled, the ball swerves off to the side so she turns her back in frustration, only for the ball to curl back into the centre and hit a great strike. It was a wonderful shot that the film crew couldn’t use as she had broken character, assuming she had bowled another poor roll.
There’s this thing called editing.
I dislike Dawn a little more every time I watch this. She's genuinely so fricken abusive
They both give as good as each other imo
I had 3 watching cash in the attic 🤣🤣 great episode , quality reaction again. As has been mentioned already, I'm expecting matching robes next Wednesday guys
Wish I had someone to eat corn on the cob with 😂😆😐😑😞
Now we know why KFC’s motto is “Finger lickin’ Good!”
I've been in Mick's situation finding a body at work and being on local tv news. I said pretty much what Mick said, you can't help it
Wow. Really. Had they been murdered then or just someone randomly die there
And then there was a greasy bucket with a bone in it.
Filth 🙂
Absolute genius... "My minds telling me no" 🤣🤣🤣 🌽
That scene at the end is one of my favourites. The fact that I’m physically repulsed by corn makes it even funnier.
I can remember once when I was on the news. Well that day, I was about 13 and as I was on my way to school, a mate of mine said. Do ya want to bunk off and go in the city instead. Must of had sh1ty lessons that day coz I said yes. Anyway when I got home after. My mother said how was my day at school. Said was ok. She was acting a bit funny and randomly cooked my favourite meal ( a roast ) then she keep saying there's something really good on the six o'clock news. We all sat down. Having the roast around that time then the news came on. The story my mum told to watch carefully was about Herbie Hide, the ex world heavyweight boxer from Norwich. He was in norwich crown court and the all the press was out side and low and behold, you see me walking past in the background. I recently had a buzz cut, so stood out like a sore thumb 🤦♂️ my mother obviously see the 12:30 news and spotted me 😬 as soon as you see me in the background. My mother, you little C word. You are grounded 😂🤦♂️
Wait until you see Rob Brydon acting in The Trip (4 series) with Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge)
I'm Michael Caine
Julia Davis, who plays Dawn, is a highly talented writer in her own right. Nighty Night is a terrific, off the wall, comedy series. If was her birthday yesterday too!
I wish they didn't have Gavin being so uppity and dismissive of her home town. I couldn't be with someone that looked down on where I am from, then smiled as they met everyone there.
To be fair my partner is originally from a small town in Northern Ireland and it’s an absolute sh*thole and she knows it. Houses and the cost of living there are dirt cheap, but theres a reason for that.
I’m a single oven glove kinda guy. I’ve never cooked anything big enough for two gloves.
Big enough for two gloves... is that a euphonism ? :L
Hope you guys enjoyed your corn on the cob 👍😂
Food makes a good euphemism and they take it to another level xx 🤣
That "crazy" isn't a Nessa thing that's rubbed off on Stacey. It's a Welsh thing. That's the premise of the whole show. The Welsh are fucking mad, and the juxtaposition of what happens when 'mad' meets 'sane'... Not that you could call Smithy or Pam sane 🤣
Kfc used to be great in the uk back then, idk how it got to be so mid now
Mike and Jess matching robes next episode?
You look good as Bryn, Mike. The last 5 minutes of this was the first I ever saw of this show.
You two wearing those robes for the next episode then?
I will pay a double subscription charge if they do 😂
I never saw this when it was on, I was at an age when I was out all the time. Y had no idea that it was as good as this , now I look forward to Wednesdays to watch it with you.
My first job at 15 was a painter decorator and after a week my overalls looked like a Jackson Pollock painting.
Ooh sofa, lovely ☺️
Nice Chesterfield sofa 😊
Bryn sitting gutted after Mick’s 3 seconds of fame kills me😂 that last scene is cinema😭
Gavin is a proper mummy's boy. It really annoys me when he says to Stacey she can't spend 5 minutes away from her family. When he is living at home with his parents like a child
He's actively trying to move out though.
I know it was in the Poll, but I really hope outnumbered wins next. It’s one of the most feel good, relatable comedy shows ever. It’s similar to how Gavin and Stacey is very much a realistic feeling show. And especially being parents, it’ll be so relatable and more enjoyable
Does anyone when the next poll Is 🤔🤔🤔
Mick’s gonna be on the tele!
So early!!
Well you don't expect this when you come into work in the morning.
No more chairs on to the couch 😎
Where's the box of tissues going to go
Grab a Toffee or a Cea and settle in for some Gavin and Stacey.
Fairplay
there is a lot of cum in that flat!!!.
