This one fought me hard! [Settling] It didn’t take very long for Hirari to find an enemy nin. They seemed to infest the forest just outside of the wall, dozens of bodies full of chakra, charging single-mindedly towards the opening they had made like ants who had caught a sniff of a fresh meal. They

Jun dragged the whetstone across the length of her sword, sending sparks skittering across the ground in front of her. In the darkness away from the campfire, they were as bright as the stars beaming through the canopy above. She gave her weapon a few more careful strokes, before bringing the edge u

Binged Cyberpunk Edgerunners recently, and that stared a whole stream of ideas. This is the first time I've tried something like this, and it's mostly a concept piece but if y'all enjoy it, who knows? In other news, A Devil In The Dungeon has been mostly outlined and should return shortly so stay tu

[Konoha Crush] Hiruzen felt his heart drop into his stomach as a scream resounded through the stadium. He stood from his chair only a moment before an explosion rocked the ground underneath his feet, blooming from the stands where the civilians were seated. Another followed, shattering the glass of

Fair weather carried my ship across the sea. A short journey later—at least by nautical standards—my ship was docked before evening on the second day. I found port in the same city which I had just recently visited, though the procession welcoming me was much more tame. "Welcome back, Princess Tanya

And it's back! Sorry about that! [Sciamachy] Hirari stared tensly at the swordsman above her, wondering how he had made it past village security, all the way to the top of the Hokage Monument. If someone of his status had managed to penetrate this deeply into the village without being stopped or see

Recently posted a chapter of A Shard Among Leaves and immediataly took it down because I realized that I left a small chunk of it unfinished. It should be back up in an hour or less in a much more complete state. Sorry about that

Azula stormed through the palace halls like a dragon on a warpath. Servants turned away from her stormy gaze and royal guards stiffened as she passed them by. Fury seemed to radiate from every one of the young princess’s pores. At a passing glance, most were sure she’d be puffing smoke from her nost

[Blunder] Hayate woke with a start. Now, that was strange on two fronts. One, given what he last remembered, he never expected to open his eyes again outside of the Pure Lands, and this definitely wasn’t that. Which brought him to point two. Everything hurt like hell and he was nursing a headache wo

[An Omen Of Import] Though it may have come as some surprise to a few of the other factions and those not in the know, Devilkind did not hold complete dominion over the Underworld. They were the most populous among those who called it home, true, but they did not have it to themselves. Several races

Sweat rolled down the back of Piccolo’s head as he lifted himself above the edge of the rock face. The weighted clothes he was draped in tried to drag him back down to earth. With a growl, he pulled himself the rest of the way up, collapsing on the edge of the rocky cliff. His muscles burned, but h

Currently working on the outline for the final arc of A Devil In The Dungeon which is why there's been no updates. I should be done relatively soon and we'll be back to your regularly scheduled programming! In the meantime, please enjoy! To my pleasant surprise, Zuko managed to play the part of a pe

[Security Concerns] “You are unhappy.” Her father’s tone was curious and tinged with a slight amount of concern. From her position across the table, Hirari could see his brows furrow just slightly behind his shaded glasses. His worry was palpable. Hirari chewed her rice as she worked out her response

There wasn't a damn thing that could make guard duty actually exciting. Private Juzo cracked a heavy yawn, leaning on the edge of his spear as he stared out over the vast waters of the Mia Ting sea, keeping vigilant for Earth Kingdom ships that were surely just over the horizon. “Any day now, right?

[Snakes And Ants] The husk of the Kiri girl sloughed off like a shed skin, collapsing to the forest floor in a wet heap of flesh as a figure emerged from her mouth, climbing onto shaky hands and knees. Hirari stared as slime dripped from jet black hair and skin far paler than the girl’s original had

[Equal and Opposite] Hospitals had always felt weirdly cold for me. Temperature-wise, I mean. The chill in the air raised perpetual goosebumps across my arms and legs and brought back bad memories that I had to force down like bile in the back of my throat. It couldn’t feel any better for the man in

[An Invitation To Court] Tanya was no stranger to accidental incineration. Say what you will about just how ludicrous such a term was—even moreso when applied in context, but the fact of the matter was that she’d had access to her family’s bloodline magic since she was an infant, and didn’t always k

Since the day he was born, Fire Lord Azulon had known nothing but war. In the wake of his death, Sozin left a world ablaze with the fires of his ambition. The four nations, once harmonious, were fractured, and the banner of the Fire Nation was to blame. Azulon carried his forefather’s torch with a h

Very sorry for the lack of updates! I was almost completely through a chapter of Burn The Ashes when I realized I wanted to take the story in a different direction and knocked this out instead! Please Enjoy! [Intrusion] One day into the exam, Team Eight was doing better than most. “You bastard, I'll

The muse hit me hard on this one. Please Enjoy! General Hao ran a hand through his greying beard with a heavy sigh. Spread across the table in front of him, the yellowed lines of a well-used war map stared back, confounding his senses in such a way that even his warm tea could not calm his aching he

[Into The Forest] Ibiki Morino maintained that he had better things to do with his time than babysit a bunch of brats. Half of the kids who showed up to this year’s exams had no business even looking at a flak jacket, much less wearing one. Unfortunately, Lord Third seemed to disagree so he was stuc

[Weathering Malice] “On your left!” Rann turned just in time to watch as a thick, meaty fist barreled towards his skull like a swinging hammer. He threw himself sideways and rolled, coming up with his bow at his chest and an arrow already nocked. He took just a moment to aim before letting it loose.

A rewrite of an old story I didn't really care for. This will be updated as I finish working on the chapters between other stuff! [Falling] I wasn't sure when it started, but for a long time, I could only ever see things ending one way for me. Ever since I lost sight of that wide-eyed girl with drea

We trained in the gravity chamber pretty much every day after that. The first days were hard on both of us, but me especially. My body wasn't used to the intense training and the first few mornings after training I woke up feeling like someone had beaten me with a bat while I slept. Goku was mostly

[Preparing The Stage] “So this is Konoha huh?” Kankuro stared up at the massive walls of the hidden village as he and his team approached. The walls loomed over them, high and imposing, but they had nothing on the natural canyon that hid his own village. He scoffed. “Doesn't look like much.” Beside

[Old Ties, New Assignment] “—And with so many villages deciding to send teams, we need to be careful about where we place them. Remember, Konoha’s security comes above all else, Hiruzen.” Hiruzen heaved the sigh of the endlessly weary, watching from under the brim of his hat as his teammate droned

[New Normal] “Come on, kitty cat! You won’t catch anything moving like that!” There was a rush of air, and then a giggle. “Aww, what’s wrong? I thought you wanted to play with me—put in a little more effort, why don’t you?” Kuroka swerved in the air, glaring at Bambietta who stared back with a wide

The dominant species of the planet that I had found myself stranded on was... interesting. And stupid. Mostly stupid. Though, given the smaller-than-average size of their skulls and the lack of any and all external data storage, it was somewhat expected that these sentients would fall behind most of

And we're back! [Rally Under Siege] Eventually, the shaking ground to a halt, leaving the entire group unbalanced and more than a little concerned. Licia and Rann looked around, as if trying to parse what had caused such an intense disturbance, while Tanya’s eyes raised towards the false sky above t

Sorry for the lack of updates, y'all, I'm on a family vacation and I haven't had nearly as much free time to write as I thought I would! We'll be back to your regularly scheduled program shortly!

[Deposition Made Simple] As a rule, ninja tended to be more stealthy and aware than their non-chakra-using counterparts. Even so, Hirari found it quite intriguing that she could simply walk past a pair of possible enemy combatants with nothing more than a friendly nod and showing of half-bared tee

[A Lesson In The Proper Use of Available Resources] Naruto stretched his arms high above his head. “Man, I’m beat! I could really go for something to eat right now, right, you guys?” He was answered by a hand coming across the back of his head and flinched, turning a pout on Sakura who glared at him

Just something fun I cooked up! Hope you enjoy! Sentient creatures have always had an annoying habit of overestimating their own significance. When all of your species’ achievements are confined to one tiny pebble floating in the endless dark, it seems that you are the only thing that matters. Well

[Calm Under Crisis] “This is an outrage!” As cliché as the shouted words were, Tanya had to agree that “outraged” pretty much summed up the current state of the congregation before her. The grand hall was packed wall-to-wall with faces of the current nobility. Some faces were known to Tanya; many

Light streamed through the trees, casting gentle rays all across the floor of the forest spreading across Mt. Paozu. I stood high above that same floor, skulking across a branch that was just big enough to carry my weight, watching and waiting. Five or so meters below me, a single deer grazed silent

[End Of Respite] There was a small procession held for Artus that night. Food was made and drinks were toasted in the name of the warrior gone too soon. Tanya quickly gathered that the Loki Familia were the type to celebrate their dead, rather than openly mourn them. Stories were spread across the c

[A Mission] Hirari rubbed a piece of bark between her fingers, watching as the dead carcasses of several dozen of her minuscule Kikaichu came off on her skin. She frowned, glancing up the blackened bark of the tree that served as her first colony's home. Several subjects display a mineral deficiency

[Gone] Though Tanya had completed her mission, she made no move to gather her comrades and return to the surface. With Artus on death's door and her comrades out of sorts emotionally, it was best to stay put for a day or two. Even though she wasn't a member of their familia, the Loki Familia were mo

[Snakes and Swarms] “I’m just saying,” Anko waved her dango through the air, ignoring the way Kurenai leaned away from the saucy treat, “it’s been pretty boring around here. Even T&I has been empty. I’ve been torturing the same schmuck for the last three weeks! His fingernails stopped regrowing alre

[Ends Justified] Guilt was not a feeling that Kuroka was very familiar with. There simply wasn’t any room for it among the hurt, anger, and fear that always lingered in the back of her mind and knotted itself tightly in her chest. And yet, as she raced through the deep forests of the Underworld, gui

Was working on the Sakura SI and got hit with inspirational for this! Hiruzen Sarutobi had spent the majority of his life embroiled in stress. Ruling over an entire village for decades had taken more years from him than the wars ever had, and he was sure that by the end of his life, they’d bury him

[Small Mercies] Mary Tanis was a simple woman with simple tastes. She liked money, a good drink paired with a better meal, nice clothes, normal things like that. She was normal, at least compared to some of the other whack-jobs who decided the Dungeon as the best way to make a bit of coin. So how t

There was a lot of preparation to take care of before Raditz arrived, and that wasn’t just limited to training. The universe was a big and horrifically scary place; Raditz was small potatoes compared to what was out there. It was our duty to be as prepared as possible for it all. That was why I fo

[Grit Your Teeth And Crash] Cody didn’t live that far from my place. It was maybe a thirty minute walk on a good day, though it was a little closer to the bad part of town so we normally didn’t risk it, or at least I didn’t. Cody often did and showed up randomly to my doorstep at least once a month.

[No Rest For The Wicked] Chernabog's defeat saw the end of his little insurrection. The Black City seemed to be linked to his power and with it gone, it crumbled away. Though the battle was rather quick, all things considered, the aftermath was a bit trickier. Though the skirmish lasted less than a

Got hit with writer's block so I wrote this; please enjoy! Burn The Ashes updates later tonight or tomorrow! ~~~ [Woke Up Tired] “It's kind of crazy that a school like this lets us just climb up here whenever.” Wind whistled across the rooftop of Winslow High School, punctuating the statement. Leane

[Coming Clean] The walk to the gate was short but the silence seemed to stretch forever. Tanya could feel Licia's worry for Artus, her anxiety for the life of her dear friend. And beneath that, she could feel the girl's silent question toward Tanya herself. The gate was manned by a pair of bored-lo

Replayed AC6 recently and remembered why I loved that game. Enjoy this little snippet set in a universe inspired by the genre! It's not very long, but I had fun writing it. If someone had asked Skylar Cazda a few years ago how she thought her life would end, she would have told them the same thing s

[Taking Action, Part 3] Lightning screamed past Liltotto's face as she dove through the air, passing close enough to make her skin tingle. Her wings flared and she turned to find Candice already winding up for another shot, her arms raised above her head as holy lightning crackled across her skin.

[A Step In The Right Direction] “What are you doing, Sakura-chan?” Pink hair drifted across my vision as I leaned back to look at Naruto over the rim of my book. The boy's upside-down face held a quizzical expression as he stared up at me with wide blue eyes. I grinned at him as best as I could with
