‧₊˚✧ Patch Day Survival Guide ✧˚₊‧
Hiii 𖹭,
Tomorrow 1/13, there will be a base game update for The Sims 4.
Please back up your Saves and Tray files, especially your Saves. This update is expected to address several long-standing save file issues, so protecting your data first is non-negotiable. If you want to know more essential fixes, check out my latest Simmer Talk: IYKYK.
Also, please refrain from downloading any of my content (or other creators’ work) tomorrow until the update dust settles. Your future game will thank you.
Here’s a little guide for you babes:
• Grab your favorite bev, because we’re staying hydrated while saving our games. 🍵ྀི ₊ ⊹
• Backup your saves + Tray files. Don’t risk your legacy family for the bit.
• Play offline if you’re not ready to update.
Here’s how:
❶ Open up your EA App.
❷ Click the hamburger lines (top-left corner).
❸ Go to Settings → Downloads.
❹ Toggle off “Update games automatically.”
For my visual learners, there’s a gif below showing exactly how it’s done.
• Check Scarlet’s Realm for mod updates before hopping back online.
ᯓᡣ𐭩 Lastly, please be patient with creators. This patch is a big one.
May the odds ever be in your favor,

I literally just fixed my game last weekend 💀
This is why I don’t even bother playing online anymore.
How do I open the game offline?
Heyy, not sure if you figured it out, but it's the same way as always. If that doesn't work, turn your Wi-Fi off for a second and open the game; either way will work fine.
Lol, I love the comedy. Thanks for this survival guide, we're going to need it. <3
Thanks for the friendly reminder and I agree... there is no book only a survival guide.. LOL
i might sound a little dumb but, do i launch it from ea instead of steam when i toggle it off..?
Heyy, not dumb at all! if you play through Steam, still open the EA App to toggle it off — that’s where the update settings actually live. even though you launch from Steam, EA’s the one doing the updating so once you turn that off, you’re good either way.
Thank you! Also love that you call them hamburger lines, I’ve always thought they looked like that but maybe I was crazy🤭
Yes, and the nine dots are a waffle! I work at an elementary school and sometimes the kids think I am crazy when I call either of them that.
