Simmer Talk: EA, AI & a Laundry Basket of Bug Fixes

"They said Challenge Everything… and we said bet."

Heyyy ᰔᩚ,

Welcome back to another Simmer Talk. It’s been a minute, and whew. Game Changers are dipping left and right, EA dropped a “we’re panicking but not panicking” PR letter, and somehow AI drama slid into the chat (which, let’s be real, I did call in our last Simmer Talk).

Oh, and shoutout to AMD CPUs for beefing with EA like it’s a reality show subplot.

Basically? Chaos. But hey, in the middle of all that, they’re blessing us with 150+ new free items (read: recolors) and a laundry basket’s worth of bug fixes. So let’s sip something hydrating, cozy up, and break it all down together.

ᝰ.ᐟ Backup your game before Nov 4th… unless you enjoy living dangerously.

Game Changers Calling It Quits

Several heavy-hitters in The Sims 4 creator scene have stepped away from the EA Creator Network — names like lilsimsie, James Turner, and Plumbella.

Their reasoning? The proposed $55 billion buy-out, backed by Saudi investment, doesn’t align with their values. Early access perks and creator codes aside, this was a bold statement that shook the community. ( ˶°ㅁ°) !!

And here’s the flip side: not everyone’s leaving. Some creators are staying in the program, maybe waiting to see how the deal plays out, or because it’s their main source of income. Totally fair. But let’s be real — EA has been showing us who they are for years. The stagnation around inclusivity in The Sims (specifically) didn’t start yesterday, and the rose-colored glasses have been on for a long time.

So honestly? Whether it’s creators leaving in protest or staying put, a lot of it feels more performative than revolutionary. The sale just forced everyone to finally say out loud what’s been obvious for a while.

EA’s Official Love Letter (aka “Don’t Leave Us”)

So, EA dropped this shiny blue slide with hearts and Plumbobs basically saying: “We love you, we hear you, stay with us.” Cute, right? They’re reminding us The Sims is still “about expressing your authentic self” while quietly sliding in that November 4 update (150+ fixes and freebies) and more updates rolling into 2026.

But let’s be real... this is EA damage control. It’s giving “please don’t all leave at once,” not “sudden burst of community passion.” They’ve seen creators walk, they’ve seen simmer trust dip, and now they’re trying to wrap it all up in gratitude bows and green hearts.

Is it nice? Sure. Is it convincing? Ehh… depends how rose-colored your Plumbob is.

AI & The Sims: ReefGPT Drama

And remember last Simmer Talk when I said AI was coming for The Sims? Yeah… I hate being right.

Here’s the tea: EA has officially jumped on the AI bandwagon with something called ReefGPT. Inside the company, devs say it’s supposed to be a “thought partner.” Cute, right? In reality, it’s been spitting out hallucinations — fake code that makes more work for the humans. Imagine trying to fix bugs and your AI coworker just drops gibberish in your lap. Love that for them.

But catch this: some employees say they’re being required to train ReefGPT on their own work. Translation? You fix the bugs, feed the bot, and then maybe watch it eye your job. Totally normal corporate vibes.

And then EA doubled down with a partnership with Stability AI (yep, the text-to-image folks). So if you were wondering whether more AI is creeping into dev workflows, the answer is a loud yes.

Here’s my take: AI isn’t the villain — the way it’s being used is. Remember, AI learned from artists, writers, and creators. That’s why lines blur, and that’s why people side-eye everything now. But forcing devs to “partner” with a bot that causes chaos? That’s corporate, not creative.

AMD CPUs & Electronic Arts: The Tech Drama

Alright babes, grab your tea (and maybe a fan for your rig) — because this one’s messy.

Players have been reporting stutters, lag spikes, and random slowdowns on AMD chips in The Sims 4 and other EA games. Some forum threads even call out AMD directly, saying performance lags behind Intel.

But here’s the kicker: EA games are CPU hogs in general. Whether you’re team AMD or Intel, they’ll push your processor hard — especially once you stack expansions, mods, and CC. So yeah, AMD users are feeling it, but even Intel rigs aren’t exactly chilling.

What this means for you:

  • AMD players: you’re not imagining the hiccups.

  • Always double-check your CPU against EA’s system requirements (quirky as they are).

  • Keep AMD drivers and EA patches updated — sometimes fixes sneak in quietly.

  • If you’re running heavy CC or mods? Lower a few settings and back up your saves.

So, is this “AMD vs EA” beef official? Not exactly. But the community receipts say the tension is real.

✦ The November 4 Patch: 150+ Fixes

。°⚠︎°。 Important: Save file corruption is still under investigation. It’s not being fixed this round, so if that’s been haunting your game… stay tuned for December or later.

Top Voted Fixes

  • Photos won’t randomly turn into cursed black squares in your inventory (new saves only).

  • Sabotage interaction locked behind the Deviance aspiration again — no more “chaotic neutral” toddlers sabotaging sinks.

  • Mixologists will now stop gossiping mid-chat to actually pour your drink. We love professionalism.

  • Children inherit features more clearly. Basically, the genetics lottery got a small patch.

  • Relationship decay after having a baby slowed down. Your marriage may now last longer than your toddler phase.

Base Game

  • Sims won’t text underwater or while jogging. (Mermaid iMessage privileges revoked.)

  • Random Sims can’t stroll into your house uninvited just because you have sliding doors.

  • Sims will stop wearing hats in their nude outfit. (Insert “no hats in the bedroom” joke here.)

  • Firefighters can actually squeeze into unroutable spaces to put out fires. (Heroic pathfinding DLC, free of charge.)

  • Woohoo only works in indoor steam rooms now. Outdoor sauna exhibitionists, it’s over for you.

Affecting Multiple Packs

  • Patients and Ranch Hands no longer show up in random hats. No more cowboy-hat surgeons.

  • Cafeteria workers finally stick around to serve food instead of rage-quitting on load.

  • Radios no longer have the footprint of a couch. (The Grimophone diet is working.)

  • Nannies, Gardeners, and Ranch Hands don’t immediately boomerang back after you fire them.

  • Added glass wall patterns for Greenhouse Haven & Life & Death roofs — dramatic plant parenting unlocked.

Expansion / Game / Stuff Packs

  • Adventure Awaits: Sims won’t teleport out of pools mid-Woohoo. (Teleportation kink disabled.)

  • Life & Death: Woohoo with Grim no longer cancels. Death got his stamina back.

  • High School Years: Immortal homeless teens now age up. Goodbye to your eternal prom classmates.

  • Werewolves: They can’t use their phone while rampaging. (No more “u up?” texts mid-frenzy.)

  • Spooky Stuff: Sims can resume pumpkin carving after interruptions. (Season saved, Martha Stewart approved.)

Real Talk: Ethics vs. Money ᯓᡣ𐭩

I know that was a lot to take in, but I hope y’all enjoyed the breakdown. Now, let’s talk about where I stand as a creator during this transitional time in The Sims.

Firstly as a Christian, my values haven’t aligned with The Sims 4 for a looonng time. And with this new buyout? It kinda solidified that. I don’t agree with what’s happening with Saudi Arabia or even with this current administration. I believe in diversity and equal rights. Because as a Christian I’m called to love. But also as someone who studied history and cultural studies, I’m called to look at facts and patterns in the world… And what’s happening right now is alarming. Funding violence, hatred, bigotry, racism? That’s not something I can stand with.

The bigger question for EA is this: where do we draw the line between ethics and money? Are we forgetting the plot — Which, by the way, used to be their old slogan: ‘Challenge Everything.’ Like… what are we really doing here? Or is ‘EA, it’s in the game’ the real slogan now.... Because at this point, it feels like it’s all a game to them.

So for me, my promise is this: I’ll always make content that reflects not just my relationship with Jesus, but also my relationship with y’all. That’s why I’ll never stop making Simmer Talk.

Now, I’ll still cover what’s coming to The Sims — that’s part of why we’re here.. But I won’t be buying anything from EA again for the foreseeable future. With that said, if you do keep buying from them? Whoop-de-doo, that’s your call. Your convictions aren’t always going to align with mine (or anyone else’s), and that’s okay. Honestly, I don’t buy most packs anyway because of my beliefs, sooo… it is what it is.

And let’s be real: if I did try to own every pack, my poor game would be in the corner screaming for help — probably filing an HR complaint at this point.

Until next time,
Stay hydrated & stay inspired — Ashley aka SimBeautyGuru ᰔ

Lol @ The Devil Wears Prada meme. And I cosign for not supporting Sims 4 anymore. It's been in my spirit for a while that this game is...evil, lol for lack of a better term. That may sound drastic, but all the worldly elements being added to this game via mods/cc or EA always had me feeling off. So I've been trying to wean myself off the game. Which is an emotional process bc I've loved this game for decades. But it's not healthy, honestly, and I need the break bc the addiction is real lol. The fact that all of this is happening, not only in the Sims, but in the world?Things are shifting. Seasons are changing. And we need to be in tune with God and ready if we aren't already. God bless & thank you for this 💞

You're 100% spot on. That's why we all need discernment when navigating any and all things, even gaming. We're supposed to be set apart in our behavior and our consumption of day-to-day things. May God bless you and continue to keep you! 🤍
