Patch Day is Coming, and the Laundry is Dirty

A Sims 4 News Drop from Your Favorite Newsletter

TL;DR:

EA just released a laundry list longer than a toddler's tantrum. Rain's still falling inside, Crumplebottoms are cloning, and console Simmers are fighting for their lives. A patch is dropping July 1, and yes — your Mods will break. Let's get into it.

The Bugs in Our Backyard (Base Game Edition)

Okay babes, here’s the rundown of what’s allegedly getting cleaned up in the Base Game:

  • Rain and snow still falling indoors. EA says they fixed it. Again. We’ll believe it when we see it.

  • Kids become demonic pretzels when using violins.

  • Eyedropper tool broke, clutter vanishing from catalogues.

  • Fear of the Dark? Still a lifelong curse.

  • Monkey Bars can’t be found, and plants are going transparent in Laptop Mode. Real casual.

  • CAS filters are forgetting how gender works — again.

Affecting Multiple Packs (Because Why Not)

These are the bugs that just refuse to be exclusive — they’re popping up across the board:

✦ Townie name diversity still in witness protection.
✦ Planters don’t work in Henford-on-Bagley, Moonwood Mill, or Chestnut Ridge.
✦ Swimsuit and tea tray objects are playing hide and seek in Build/Buy.

Why Every Pack Needs Therapy (Expansion Pack Chaos)

Let’s break this down by the packs, because EA sure didn’t:

For Rent

  • Tenants won’t pay rent — very on brand.

  • Business funds not transferable.

High School Years

  • Prom and Graduation events ghost your calendar.

  • Dates don’t trigger rides at the pier.

  • Social Bunny? Zero followers. Zero functionality.

Cottage Living

  • Animals aging and dying even with aging turned off.

  • Duplicate Crumplebottoms in your save file. Just what we needed.

Lovestruck

  • Romance Satisfaction bar disappeared — it’s not just you.

  • Cupid’s outfits don’t stick.

  • Degrees do nothing for the Romance Consultant Career.

Seasons

  • Indoor weather. Again. Just making sure you caught that.

Other Packs

  • Get to Work: Nanoo Nanoo bassinet missing.

  • Discover University: Sims won’t move out of dorms.

  • Snowy Escape: Shrub locked behind the wrong tab. Of course it is.

Game Pack Gremlins

Werewolves – CAS items showing up where they shouldn't. Styled looks broken.
Dream Home Decorator – Hot weather shorts… not hot. Not showing.
Vampires – Fangs disappear in Live Mode when you use Dark Form. Justice for vampires.

Kits Causing Chaos

Secret Sanctuary – Dress doesn’t work on plus-sized Sims. Boo.
Sweet Slumber Party – Shoes ignoring masculine filters.

Console Girls Deserve Rights (But Get Crashes)

Hey console babes — if your game’s crashing without warning, here’s what’s up:

This is mostly happening to:

  • Original PlayStation/Xbox consoles

  • Big, old save files

  • Heavily played households with lots of Sims

  • Builds using too many packs or big lots

Try this before you rage quit:

  • Place fewer objects per lot

  • Set Sim count to 80 in Gameplay settings

  • Empty every inventory, everywhere (yes, all of them)

  • Save often, cry less

  • Try starting a new save and moving your faves over

The Sims Direct Team is aware and investigating — stay strong out there.

🧼 Bug Hall of Shame (aka the Glitchiest Hits)

Let’s be real: we could list every bug like it’s a grocery list, but some just deserve their own little corner of the spotlight. The kind of bugs that make you close your game and whisper “not today.”

✦ Duplicate Crumplebottoms running wild — one was enough, EA.
✦ Vampires losing their fangs in Live Mode — rude.
✦ Rain still falling indoors — indoor plumbing, meet indoor weather.
✦ Kids transforming into violin demons — we did not ask for string section body horror.

Reminder: July 1 Patch Incoming

With this many bugs “fixed,” you know what that means:

  • Back up your Mods folder

  • Back up your Saves and Tray files

  • Don’t test it. Don’t risk it. It will break. I say this with love.

Happy glitching (until further notice),
Ashley aka Simbeautyguru ♡

Thank you for letting us know! Is there a way to play without updating the game? (sorry if that's a dumb question)

Yes, you just need to play offline and turn off your Wi-Fi. And that's not a dumb question at all. Most people prefer to play the Sims offline. 🤍

S
Simbeautyguru · June 26, 2025

Right!! Like it's the same fixes most of the time. And what I notice is they only fix big bugs, for example, weather/raining indoors, before they release a new expansion... crazy 😒😶
