Second Chances

Sheila slapped Robert across the face. "I hate you, and I don't ever want to see you again."

Robert looked at her, stunned. Shook his head and left.

He shouldn't have cheated on her. He knew it was wrong and that she would leave him. And that's why he had done it. He was too much of a coward to take the first steps to end the relationship.

Sheila's tears dropped into a bowl; all the candles were lit. She spoke the words and hoped this time would be different.

Time twisted, turned, and slipped back to a week ago.
