Hey there!

There's something about the winter season (and the upcoming release of this set 🥹) that makes me want to build a barn, so I've been feeling the equestrian itch lately. But, the thing is, I get hung up on how coat markings get absolutely CRUNCHED in TS4 after leaving the CAS paint mode. I don't want to have to go way out of my way to fix coats in Photoshop, export them as textures, reimport them as muzzle swatches...like, no. I had to do enough of that for Sims 3 that I never want to have to do it again–and I don't want you to have to do that, either!

I want making beautiful horses to be fun, and, most of all, easy.

This is the first step in my Master Plan™ to make making pretty horses simpler and more convenient for everyone: default coat overrides that do most of the work for you + two base templates for both adults and foals. Warmblood Edition, but I plan on making other breeds over time as I create them for my save files.

The horse template shown below is sporting only my replacement texture + WH's mesh overrides (linked below!). This new texture does a lot for the EA rig, too, but I highly recommend grabbing the overrides for the most realistic results.

• For TS4

• This is a default texture override*

• Overrides the base coat textures for both adults and foals

• Package format (Override) 👉 Mods folder

• Tray files (Templates) 👉 Tray folder

• Templates will show up in your Gallery as a family of one adult and one foal (be sure to turn the Contains Custom Content filter ON)

  • Creators: you're welcome to modify this texture to fit your favorite equine mesh overrides, but I ask that you please share it publicly for others to enjoy 🙏

⚠️ Requirements ⚠️

• This override was designed to work with Walnut Hill's V3 adult horse overrides, which can be downloaded here. I can't guarantee the same results on other overrides, but it does appear to work well with the EA model.

• The adult horse template will require all of WH's sliders and eyelashes which can be downloaded here. It also requires WH's V3 overrides listed above to look the same as shown.

• The foal template only requires the smaller eyes override for foals found here (OBJ_SmallerFoalEyes.package), but I recommend grabbing WH's foal manes & tails from here for a more realistic look

• Default hoof textures shown in preview images are from here (recommended but not required!)

💭 Creator Notes:

• This coat took over 40 iterations and equally as many trips into the game for testing 😵‍💫 I don't plan to update it again for the foreseeable future, but I do have a few other coat-related projects in the works that will work nicely with it! 🐴✨

• This is my first time sharing tray files ~ please let me know if you have any issues!

*This file will override the game's default textures. You can only have ONE default override in your game at a time.
