That seated officer talking with Shino and Ryonosuke about "both sides in a war being just" paradoxically mirrors what Shunsui said in an earlier arc about "both sides are unjust in war". Blut (the blue lines you see on quincies that Ron thought looked like diamonds) is essentially the quincies' version of armament haki in One Piece. The quincy invasion of Soul Society is serious stuff.

If the ending of the TYBW manga wasn't so bad then this would have been one of the best arcs, 2nd only to the end of One Piece amongst the Big 3 from the early 2000s The reason the manga landed flat was due to Kubo's declining health at the time. Luckily the anime is changing alot.

A good anime to add to you guys' list is scissor 7. It's a Chinese anime (yes purists, come at me! 😅 idk how you'd call them) which i think you will enjoy. Thusfar, for me, it's the obly Chinese show that i really enjoyed alot! It's so funny, and the animation style is unique IMO maybe watch the trailer in your own time and see how you like it?

Bleach was heavily censored before tybw, the manga was always way more gruesome it had way more blood and creepy things than the anime. But even then the TYBW is the bloodiest arc even in the manga so for anime only it seems like its a bigger jump

No fight will feel like anyone is stalling or just hanging around exlaining their abilities. This arc is not like your typical shonen anime. bleach is such a good representation of how far anime has come. It started in 4:3 standard definition, then it goes into 16:9 widescreen 720p, and during the arrancar arc it swtches to 1080p. now 10yrs later tybw is available in 1080p/4k. And the modern anime pacing, considering how slow fullbringer was tybw practically gives you whiplash. You think oh this is a nothing conversation, but then its just unfiltered lore drops. Mayuri just casually killed off 28k people from Rukon District. It further shows how messed up the Soul Society are. Bankais are spelt using the Manji symbol, which people often mistake for a Swastika. Manji have a very long history, yet the Nazis took it and made it into a Swastika, which is what is widely known nowadays. Similarly, we see how the Sternritters have taken Bankai from the Soul Reapers to showcase the same thing. In case you guys forgot, the reason Quilge Opie survived Urahara's blow is because of a technique called Ransotengai. Uryu used it against Mayuri in the Soul Society arc after Mayuri paralysed his limbs. This technique helps Quincies to forcibly move their body using Reishi to continue fighting. Also, the Quincy-Shinigami war took place 1000 years ago, but what took place 200 years ago is the genocide of the surviving Quincies.

Quick note for the question at the end "why are they so much stronger?" - Think back to when Ishida removed the glove to fight Captain Mayuri and basically made him pee his pants, and that's the "inferior" Quincy ability where Ishida had to lose his Quincy power as consequence!

Against Aizen, he never once lost his cool even when faced with death, but here he was fishing for someone to place blame against, he's acting on anger, whereas in the past his actions came from a place of Pride and Duty. - Quincy antagonism against Hollows is more than acts of righteous duty, it's in large part due to survival. Even if a one side could be considered morally wrong, they themselves view there position as Just. It is only when opposing forces who believe that they are right/allowed to do something that a war happens. - Sidenote 2: Quilge still moves after getting his neck snapped and there is actually an in lore answer. Quincy have an ability called Ransōtengai. We 1st saw this used when Mayuri paralyzed Uryu. Using Ransōtengai a Quincy can puppeteer and move their body parts using strings of Reiryoku(spiritual energy) even if they are immobilized or if limbs are broken/impaired. :Fun fact Quilge has the strongest Ransōtengai within the Quincy Army. Sidenote 3 (ep.4) - All of the Captains that got their Bankai stolen are the Younger Captains, as in they became Captain's post "Turn Back the Pendulum", The other Captains are the reinstated Vizords, Unohana, Ukitake, and Jushiro...Those Last 3 are Captains are the ones whose Bankai we've never seen at this point, Kubo intentionally only stole Bankai we've seen.

I’m with Ron deaths in a show makes a show better in a crazy way trying not to sound crazy lol. Game of thrones earlier days did a good job with killing of characters. Got viewership went through the roof after the red wedding the most traumatic episode of the entire show lol. I almost feel wierd/upset when characters don’t die in certain situation on shows.

I’m with Ron as crazy as it sounds death really do make a show hit. Damn I sound crazy sayin that why you think so many people actually watched game of thrones more after the red wedding and Ned stark Demise. The views of game of thrones sky rocketed after major deaths in the show.

Yeah Bleach and Naruto always been neck and neck to me but I lean more towards bleach so much. Kubo nearly died from his severe sickness and wasn’t able to really work with the anime. Him a full health and fully involved is what you get this is the bleach he always wanted not what the studio did to og bleach. Love og bleach but if kubo was never sick bleach would’ve been 30x times more popular than it is now.

The state before bankai is called shikai. If you see Aizens shikai release then you’re done for but now that he’s merged with his sword I’m not entirely sure how it works. But let’s be foreal Aizen takes orders from no one, he’d probably just wipe out both sides just for the hell of it imo.

Felt good to see my guy Byakuya again and his bankai was fire seeing it in this new animation. Remixed version of Precipice of defeat went so hard and it was so nostalgic hearing Soundscape to ardor. Also Never meant to belong was so beautiful. Bleach the type of anime where the osts are so goated you get distracted watching the show. Hell for me I get distracted by it even when watching in dub 😂

I want to tell you this, without spoiling but there is an in tybw that touched my heart and made me cry and i can’t wait till you see that episode

"Has the pacing ever been too fast" yes actually ron its a common criticism of tybw anime that it moves very fast and they adapt many chapters into each episode and cut out alot of dialouge and comedic scenes but overall its still a peak adaptation and better than the manga.

Bleach barely has any SLOW pacing when you compare it to other anime like ONE PIECE...what makes it seem super slow is the battles that felt pointless and kinda mediocre during the hueco mundo arc, which I agree with tbh. but other than that, the pacing overall is actually very very good.

Quincy abilities that have been confirmed in these episodes: * VOLLSTÄNDIG (Voll-Stern-Dich) An up graded version of letzs still that enhances their abilities. In short this is the Quincy version of Bankai BLUT (Bloot) An ability that allows Quincies to control Reishi through the blood veins to enhance offensive and defensive powers. (They cannot both use offense and defense at the same time) BANKAI PLUNDERING An ability used by the quincies that have the power to steal a soul reapers bankai and use it against them

Ron is spot on about that feeling of redemption it's going to be so satisfying when we finally win after all these losses let Kubo cook

This arc basically is the Marineford of Bleach. People downplayed it so much in the manga era, but with Kubo coming back for the return as a major contributor and overseer, we should all be hyped. Cours 1-3 proved themselves and 4 supposedly is going to be 50% new material. The new additions by Kubo so far have been incredible.

About how the stakes are high and it being super exciting, think about marineford and the great ninja war too. It had about the same type of vibe and is definitely a big reason why all of those are so beloved arcs. Shows always get turned up a notch when you feel like the stakes are very high

The OG anime was produced by a studio who wanted it to appeal to a younger audience, censoring much of the show. This same studio has now decided to be faithful to said manga and its very fucking appreciated

This is why pacing is so important, TYBW isn't like leg and feet better than the rest of Bleach in the manga it's just pacing and production are so important for an anime that it makes you feel that way when u watch the anime

Yes, old shonen pacing SUCKED, and bleach was hurt by it mid way through. OP was hurt by it too, I always felt like Naruto and Bleach weren't as bad most of the time but that's because they went the stupidly heavy filler route instead of ultra heavy padding in the episodes (most of the time, excluding the hueco Mundo arc and the orochimaru fight with the 3rd hokage). The only old shonen I remember from back then that had great pacing was Gintama. It's also got barely any filler in 300+ episodes, and the fight pacing is top tier, on the few random serious arcs interspersed between all the nonsense that makes up the majority of the show.

Yeah can’t blame you guys. The Hueco mundo arc really slowed down Bleach. A lot of OG Bleach fans didn’t notice the pace because that was the norm for 90’s -2000’s anime’s, but rewatching it with you guys i definitely felt it. Which is unfortunate because the manga is very fast paced and a totally different experience.
