I love Ty Lees combat method. Chi blocking. Adds a unique element to the show and gives non benders a way to compete.
Azula is a play on Azul, the Spanish word for Blue. Blue flames come from extremely hot fire. It's showing she is a fire bending prodigy. She can also cast lightning fairly reliably, which is a technique few can do and is considered difficult and dangerous even by top tier firebenders. They really mean it in the show when they say she is a fire bending prodigy. There's definitely a lot of depth to the bending, which is explored both in this and the sequel series Legend of Korra.

Idk why so many people see the trade deal get forfeited and just assume that Mai intends on just not getting her brother. Don’t get me wrong - she doesn’t really care about him, but she still fully intends on bringing him back home to their parents. It’s just she’s not willing to trade Bumi for him, so she called off the deal. Trading Bumi was not her only option. That’s why they attacked.

Ya Azula shoots blue flame which is way hotter than Orange flame. Like the dragon that turned into a white walker in GOT. She also lightning bends. As to whether other nations have other techniques. You'll just have to wait and see 👀
