Updates about YouTube: Here's how you can help us.
Margaret Mead once said that "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has."
We believe that we and you our subscribers, belong to this group of people. We could have closed the channel and give up. But we will never give up to YouTube and we firmly and strongly believe that you will help us. It's impossible for us not to fight against discrimination, censorship and free speech.
Social media companies have engineered a generation of self-obsessed narcissists. All social media platforms are comprised of a mass of individuals competing against each other for followers, likes, retweets, favorites, shares and whichever other show of approval exists out there rather than any sort of collective goal. It's a driven, calculated attempt by big tech to make us all stupid and divided and watch superficial content while avoiding the truth. Our goal is to bring people closer together, and keep creating inspiring stories about women who give plenty of hope, knowledge, education, resilience and strength. And most importantly, movies about women who say what the fuck they want to say!
Apparently, it's not good enough for YouTube and our videos are being consistently demonetized because they are labeled "sensitive". Few days ago, while uploading a movie about Eva Schloss, an Auschwitz survivor and Anne Frank's stepsister, is has been immediately demonetized. It happens EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.
So yesterday, we decided to make a short investigation and while searching certain words on YouTube we found abuse, exploitation, and much more. But what we also found, are Nazi salutes. These videos are all monetized. Scary shit isn't it? Hard to believe, right? Is anyone from YouTube wants to financially disincentive us from reporting on things which some don't want reported, we asked ourselves? See our tweet from yestersay (https://twitter.com/PROJECT_RWRS/status/1357725261731688450?s=20) which includes some startling examples of extreme videos with ads on. Ladies and gentlemen, dear subscribers, something is wrong in our world to say the least. We have to fix this!
Our pleas seem to have fallen on deaf ears. Mrs. Susan Wojcicki, YouTube's CEO and a vocal proponent of diversity, gender equality and women's empowerment, ignores our letters, phone calls. She talks about the very things we talk about-gender equality, discrimination and violence, she calls to "open internet where anyone can create and share"-yet we are punished, selectively. To this day, our project is hardly and barely progressing because our revenues have become very low, and since we are not compromised by corporate money or access to the powerful-as we do not want to sanitize our content-we had to open our Patreon page and hope for a miracle to come. We invite you again to help us in our fight. This is a reasonable fight, the right fight.
Our victory will be more donors, our victory is more content. No one will tell us what we should talk about. No one. Never ever. Our mission statement will remain the same because we are committed to you our subscribers, we are committed to the truth and we will prevail. Please invite your family and friends to support us. We can't continue making movies but we need you.
THANK YOU. #WEAREONE
