Kanakata

Greetings adventurers!

The Hireka are absolutely fascinating people that I’ve had the good fortune of spending some decent amount of time with. They truly care for the places they protect and though they are fey in nature, there’s something inherently honest about them that you wouldn’t expect from those often known for trickery. It was during this time with them that we were beset by some foul vermin that was quickly dispatched with a few of my magical accoutrements that I then gifted to the dojo. In return, I received this most amazing robe. Pity I don’t look good in pink.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, Foundry VTT modules, a filterable catalogue of all of our items, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:

I have been wanting to make something that turns you amphibious for awhile, and no the frog cloak didn’t count! I had this picture in my mind of some type of rebreathing apparatus or something of that nature that could allow underwater species to breathe above water and vice versa, but in the end that just felt a little clinical and too on the nose so I shelved the idea until I had something better in mind. As it turns out, the creature we came up with for this month was perfect for the assignment.

You’ll see later today when the Hireka launches that they are a unique blend of graceful fish in the water as well as flying martial combatants on land which really makes for something interesting when you want to take that concept to give to the player. It was a fairly straightforward affair in both 5E and PF2E to say that you can now breathe on land and in water, though PF2E does make it a bit easier with the trait system in the end.

Finally to round out the piece, I wanted to give martials some of the grace they might come across were you to put the Hireka into your campaigns and the best way to do that was to just tap into something that was already there with the fly spell in both 5E and PF2E. It’s kind of nice how simple it all ended up being to put together and we get to do it in a fun kimono style robe instead of a boring rebreather!

We hope you’ll love the Hireka coming later today as it’s some of the most wonderful art that I think Fernando has produced so far. At least, I’m in love with it. This draws our July to a close and that means that our August round of creations is just around the corner with even more content for your games. Thanks so much for supporting us for another month!

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
