Arbor
Greetings adventurers!
The forests of our natural world are a miraculous place worth exploring and enjoying as often as you can. The problem is that they’re also filled with wood which people seem to be in a great desire for. I won’t pretend to understand the overwhelming need for it, but what I do understand is that there are times that our natural world needs help. For just such an occasion, I’ve taken to working with a druid friend of mine on some more, shall we say, active measures in protecting trees from those who would fell them without care. This shining stave is just one of the many ways you can aid in the effort.
Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, Foundry VTT modules, a filterable catalogue of all of our items, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:
I’ve mentioned this before, but I always treat each item in each system as a completely unique design exercise. They will often share the flavor text that comes on the item providing a description, but outside of that the mechanics are handled and balanced totally separately. This is because I want to create a good item for each system rather than simply translating one way or the other. Which system I write in first is often determined by which one I have a clearer idea of whenever I get started. In this case, I had a much clearer path for the PF2E version, so I started there.
In the PF2E version, staves are very specific in how they function. That means that I need to adhere to sticking to those rules while also providing something thematic and fun. Most of the time was spent browsing through primal spell lists and picking the most flavor rich spells I could to really make this shine in its intended role. Additionally, I knew I wanted to tie in with a Druidic feat and the Plant Empathy feat was just absolutely perfect for this. My recommendation is that if you’re looking to tie an item to a class in PF2E, really look at tying it to their feats. It can make a player feel very special if they have something written for one of their character choices.
For the 5E version, I wanted to give this item a much more simplistic spell list. The reason being, I knew I wanted to give it something slightly different in terms of a more powerful secondary power. This meant keeping the spell list short and concise based on only the most flavorful spells that really fit the niche, then writing an entirely new mechanic for the other part. I really love the idea of a higher level Druid plopping down a fantastical treehouse for their party at the end of the day and I hope it’s something you would consider fun to see in your campaigns as well.
I’m excited to say that we have this whole month of content planned out and there are so many cool things that I’m excited to share with you. It’s a bit of a shorter month, but nothing wrong with that. We’re still fitting in four releases as well as our One More Thing that’s sure to have something you need, if you can pay the cost.
We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
