mizi… what a raw and human character she is. man, i feel like every time we’re given a new piece of alnst lore i’m always left unable to verbalise just how excellent and world-shifting it feels to me. y’know, these characters can only be what this world they’ve grown up in has allowed them to, which in theory should be very little, and yet each one of them—each in such distinctive ways—strikes me as so very human in all the messy and real ways that only we can be. rn i’m just sat here thinking abt mizi and sua, seeking each other always, hearts full of the love they’ve been allowed to learn in a world where such a thing carries little to no weight, hiding the “worst” parts of themselves from each other while simultaneously coveting everything about each other, not knowing that “everything” is missing something on both ends—and then mizi, left alone with nothing but her hatred and frustration and guilt and rage, that has festered and now has no vessel to pour into other than right back into her, manifesting as a self-blaming and truth-twisting apparition of herself ready to offer her a sardonic congratulations for a job well done, ready to morph her hard-earned survival into a malicious and self-serving act that cost her everyone she claimed to care for… the mizi crash-out + unreliable narrator + loss of self-identity + internalisation of others’ projections of it all, it’s just so excellent omg also, if i had a nickel for everytime a fictional lesbian who lived by the phrase “ignorance is bliss” was brutally awoken from this coping mechanism by witnessing the death of someone they love… quanxi from csm meet my beloved mizi from alnst

"must be nice, huh?" is what shes now telling herself. shes breaking down and her realizations and experiences from anakt are what are coming back to haunt her. the boy, sua, and till are all in love with her. and probably a lot more. she carries the responsibility of so many people being in love with her when it is NOT her responsibility. shes carrying this burden. she doesnt owe anyone any reciprocating feelings, but shes so nice that shes still kind to them, even if they punch her like the anakt boy. shes just too kind. now after everyones dead, after everyone who loved her died, shes now convincing herself its because she used their love for her to her own gain. its irrational because shes extremely traumatized.

COMING BACK AGAIN. I’m going out on a limb here and assuming they don’t have great sex and gender education at Anakt Garden. It seems to be very binary and heteronormative, especially given the mole dude’s belief that his friendship with Mizi entitled him to copulate with her. Mizi probably doesn’t understand what being a lesbian even is. She loves Sua the most and would never back down from that, of course, but then, maybe the fact that so many men like her when she doesn’t reciprocate means something’s wrong with her. From her perspective, this means that she must be manipulating these people and stringing them along. And then Sua dies. Even after everything. And now Mizi thinks that everyone’s love was wasted on her. Sua sacrificed herself, Till jumped off the stage before his song was over to reach her, Hyuna gave her a new life only to be slain in a botched hostage situation. That’s so hurtful because the only thing Mizi was guilty of was having too much love. Her all-encompassing reverence for Sua, the tears she shed for Till as all the life in him petered out. She was even gracious with the dude who walloped her for the crime of not wanting to be his broodmare 💀💀💀. And in the end everyone she gave her love to dies. She is the common denominator. So therefore she is the wicked one. Because that is far easier to believe than the idea that she was loved enough to die for. And that she was worthy of that love in the end.

I don’t think this is about Mizi being really manipulative… At least not 100%. I honestly think it’s more about her feeling guilty. For one, being guilty about being a lesbian. “What a waste” is something every gay, “good match” gay person will hear from a non-queer person. I think this is a bit about Mizi’s struggles with her sexuality. Feeling like she is manipulating people (mostly men) by being aware of their feelings but being unable to do anything about them because she likes Sua (a girl).
