Season 7 was fucking brutal and heartbreaking, but it had a few great moments. I was hanging on by a god damn string through season 8. BUT Season 9 has been PEAK! (so far). I am 5 episodes in, and I am genuinely surprised by how they steered that Garbage Truck Juice back into form! I'm having a great time. All my commentary now is actually about the philosophical discussions, great acting, and storylines (you know, like it used to be), not just criticizing fucked up writing choices like in Season 8.
Not that you need it, but if you were looking for permission or another opinion to come back. Here it is. Just skip seasons 7 and 8 and start season 9. I think it will be worth it.

Totally agree! When Angela Kang took over as showrunner there is a definite improvement with focus back to strong character arcs. In some ways it feels like a new show, with more grounded survival drama rather than endless war. Sorry to read a spoiler landed.

That's so funny because life just got busy and I didn't feel like revisiting my least favorite seasons so my husband and I just stopped tuning in. Last night I saw your upload and said we should get back to frank's walking dead reactions! I'll consider this a sign that its time to join in again ☺️

slowly catching up and just got to season 7 which is where i stopped watching when it was originally airing. gonna power through the next couple seasons this time but thank u for giving me hope that it gets good again!!!!
