I think it was sad to see how much hal was trying to hold on to that ring. Risking all these people's lives because he didn't know who he was without it and he had nothing else. Like in his house in ep 2 which was almost completely empty. All he had was being green lantern so he was never going to give it up without a fight. Some people were mad that John took the ring from Hal and didn't keep it but I saw it as John saw what hal did to keep the ring so he took it before hal did more damage and betrayed himself further because I think John still cared and respected him even then. And I don't think Hal was trying to kill him though some people do. The car didn't catch fire until after he left and he said he wasn't going to let him out yet. But he still risked his life and was careless. Still deserved that whoopin John gave him. Although something that bugs me that in 2026 when John find hal's body in ep 1 he looked at his finger for a ring. Why did he do that if he gave the ring back to the guardians? I think there will be more to hal's death that they will touch on in the next episodes.
I love Lanterns, but I definitely feel like I'm missing out on subtleties bc I am not super familiar with the universe. I'm struggling to understand everyone's role and motivations. But I'm captivated by Hal and John relationship, John's family background (I think there's something more going on there), and trying to figure out WTF the Guardians are doing. I don't trust them. But it's Hal & John that make the show for me. Incredible roles and actors. I also love the sheriff. I just watched the Amazon series "The Underground Railroad" based on Colson Whitehead's novel & Aaron Pierre is in several of the episodes. His presence is ethereal. Sheila Atim was in a minor role, too. BUT, it's a painful watch even though it, and the novel, are excellent.
I love it. Honestly, don't worry about the whole universe. It's not really that important to know all these things. Just keep trusting your feelings about all these characters and universal beings. I think the show was perfectly created to be accessible for people who have never even heard about the Green Lanterns. But you are slightly rewarded if u know the comics. No different than me with IWTV
Oh we are watching and loving it!! Aaron Pierre is simply awesome as the stoic, intelligent, grounded John Stewart foil to Kyle Chandler's grizzled, cynical veteran Green Lantern, Hal Jordan. Love the incredible bickering and reluctant buddy-cop chemistry between Hal and John. I told my husband I've fallen in love with Aaron Pierre and his response was...I thought you were still in love with Kyle Chandler from when we watched him in Mayor of Kingstown and Friday Night Lights!!! LOL!!
hahaha Your husband is a real one🤣❤️
He makes the show for me. He's INCREDIBLE.
Totally agree
Wow. You guys make me want to watch the show even though I have zero interest in the genre.
I've never been very interested in the hero genre but this has been pretty great in other aspects. Definitely worth checking out if you're not busy watching preferred stuff.
Show has been fire. I love the dynamic between Hal and John most, it's damn near as funny and sometimes funnier than Rust and Marty.
That's a fact🔥
YES! Love a competent, intelligent protagonist. This show is so good! Also this Green Lantern, with the current Superman? 🔥🔥🔥
Yes yes and Fucking yes. Can't wait to see them on screen together. And honestly, at this point, any other show or movie he shows up in- the story has to elevate because he's already such a great, emotionally intelligent character.
That was a great episode. Top notch show. Love the way they're running with it.
This show is fucking overdelivering💥💥
Just started episode 5
Fantastic. Let me edit the caption. It might be too spoilery
