Zelda: OoT 3D 4K Texture Pack 4.0 Update
Patch #1 2026-04-14: The instructions have been updated with a newly created cheat code, which can be added to turn Ganondorf's previously green blood, red again, just like in the N64 version! The code works on all region versions. Enjoy!
Good morning! 🔆
Disregard the date this was posted on, this isn't a joke post, even if it seems to good to be true ;)
I'm excited to finally announce the release of the next major version of the pack: version 4.0!
4.0 is the biggest update made to the pack since 2.0. In fact, this version includes over 350 new 4K textures, covering a plethora of parts of the game. And like last update, it's much more than just that! You will be seeing a major leap in quality between 3.0 and 4.0, just like you did between 2.0 and 3.0. Other improvements include fully Italian translated 4K textures (finally, after a long wait!) and plenty of miscellaneous improvements and changes across the board.
But I know you want to know more than just that, so here's some more details:
350+ New Textures!
This update includes over 350 new 4K textures which have been remade from the ground up for this version. This includes both environment textures such as the ground, walls, stone tiles and bricks, wooden panels etc. It also includes many new interior textures, completely overhauling several locations, particularly in and around Kakariko Village, Lost Woods, the Forest Temple, Inside the Great Deku Tree, Gerudo Valley, Death Mountain, Lon Lon Ranch, Castle Town, Temple of Time, Hyrule Castle and Hyrule Field. There are tons of miscellaneous textures as well that have been completely remade, such as different types of wood and bark, many NPC textures, Link's garb (again), grass and groundcover, clovers, flowers, tree trunks, ladders, clouds, caves, fairy fountains, the Mirror Shield and many more.
The pack also includes a beautiful Hylian Shield, which has been meticulously hand painted by fellow artist @SkilarBabcock, and it looks absolutely stunning. They previously contributed the gorgeous textures for Link in my Twilight Princess texture pack, and they're incredibly talented. Please check out their website and follow them on their socials, they 100% deserve it.
Like previous updates, it helps it all comes together really nicely and makes the whole pack feel a lot more polished and complete. The details all add up!
As part of my overarching goal to improve quality and consistency in all my texture packs, I took this update as an opportunity to remake many of the in-game textures to look cleaner and more consistent with the original art style. What's new with this version however, is that I've spent considerable time making sure every single texture added had a noticeable impact on the perceived quality of the area they belong to. Long term followers might know that I worked by a frequency priority system, where the most viewed textures received the highest priority to be remade. Starting with this version, I have moved over to a perceived-quality priority system. The difference is that with perceived-quality, I instead prioritize textures which I deem to have the biggest impact on the overhaul visual quality of an area, rather than how frequently that particular texture is displayed in-game. With the new system, textures which aren't necessarily common, but incredibly important to the overall visuals of an area (such as the Great Deku Tree for example) get prioritized over frequent but less noticeable textures (such as foliage). I have found this new approach to working highly effective, and I think you'll notice that the step-up in perceived quality in this version should be pretty drastic over previous versions!
No more green blood!
A cheat code has been created to turn the green blood back to red again (like in the N64 version!). This code is now included in the setup instructions guide on GitHub!
Also; Support for Italian language!
As stated in previous posts, I'm working to add support for all in-game languages to my packs, starting with English then working my way through other popular languages. Next in turn for this pack is Italian, which if you're a long-time follower you might remember I made a promise to add support for Italian almost 3 years ago (!). I'm sorry it took so long to get around to finally adding it, but now it's finally here. Everything in menus, in-game text, button prompts and location names have been translated, and should work without issues. However, if there are any mistakes or errors regarding the translation, please let me know! Grazie!
And many bugs fixes, optimizations and minor changes...
Minor issues from the previous version has been fixed. Of course, there's always a chance I might have missed some, so if you encounter and issues or oversights with the pack, please let me know over on Discord or send me a private message here!
That's mostly it for this update- Enjoy!
There is also a 4K version available! The 4K version includes higher quality textures than the 1080p version, and will work on all displays- even those that don't display in 4K resolution. It will still look better than the 1080p version, no matter the display!
Please feel free to try it out!
(The texture pack does not work on real 3DS hardware)
You can find more information about the texture pack here
Download it from my website here!
Optional Setup: Download the 4K UI Overlay Utility here (Version 3.0)
I am only able to make things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!
❤️

Hey Henriko. I know this post is old, but i was wondering if you give links to some of your older texture packs and shaders. I understand not adding emulators, but while it might be the minority, some of us liked some of your older packs. If you could set a link for your older ones for any game it would give us more options. We could choose from the newer and older ones. But if you don't I understand. Thanks for all your hard work.
trying to use this for the japanese version but it keeps breaking my game. when i checked the files, the 400 file is empty. only the 500 file has content inside it.
the text in the game strill appears blurry. Is there something that will fix that?
I wanted to start a different comment thread on this just because my previous one gained traction, and it's been a while. I just wanted to reiterate the possibility if there is any way that this texture pack can some way in the future be made compatible with a ship of harkinian, especially since I've seen now that you're Twilight Princess HD texture pack is compatible with the DuskLight recomp. I do know that this is a 3ds HD pack, but with Djipi's 3ds pack as already being an option with SOH in o2r format, I would really love to see your OOT 3ds 4K texture pack as a ship of harkanian o2r option as it definitely would be the best of both worlds mentioned in an earlier comment!
I don't mean to give you flack for this, but it is something that I ought to address. Your packs are among the best and this is by far the most beautiful OOT can look as of today, but I wish in the next update you'd work on the small, yet constantly present textures like the text and minimaps. I'm not sure how texture pack development works, but if you want to speed up the process a bit, I don't see why you can't use the textures for shared assets like bottles and text from your Majora's mask 4k pack.
I'm using the 4K UI Overlay Utility here (Version 3.0), and unless one has dual monitors, I'm not entirely sure how I'm supposed to continue controlling the game when OBS fullscreen preview is my primary active window, as Citra has to be my active window constantly for my controller input to work.
Other than that, everything looks great! Just can't control the game. lol
Great job ! I really love it. I'm playing the French version and I've noticed that the UI textures, especially the Attack button and the inventory text are pixelated compared to other languages. Are you planning to do an update? Thank you Henriko ;)
I'm waiting, hoping that one day you'll provide full support in Japanese.
Well done again, Henriko, people like you make gaming history better
hey there henriko! im using the 4K UI Overlay Utility here (Version 3.0) but the icons still have the magenta background to them! im using both the version you linked on this page, i think the keying might be weird
Probably because you have HDR enabled, check if it is and if so, try disabling it and that should fix the problem!
Thanks for the update!!! I really appreciate your work!!!
I'm playing OOT for the first time on Azahar so this is perfect timing for an update. I just finished Forest Temple
Thank you so much for the Italian update, I really appreciate it and hope to see it added to MM3D as well in the future
I had your older texture installed, how can i tell if this new pack is enabled? thanks
You have to replace the old files with the new ones. You'll probably have issues if you don't
I've been wondering since I go back and forth between the 3DS emulator and the Harkinian ports so I have to ask before I try, but do you know or possibly think that your 4K texture packs will work as mods for the Ship of Harkinian App for OOT or 2Ship2Harkinian for MM? Even maybe with just a lil bit of tweaking formats or anything? The only reason I ask is for one major reason: the best texture pack mods for these n64 versions through these apps of these 2 games are based off the 3DS ports of the games! From Djipi to be specific. And of course, they're nowhere near as good as yours, not knocking on their effort or contribution at all (or blowing smoke, just being honest). Should I do the ol' fashioned "just give it a whirl!", or could you offer further insight? Even google just gives me garbled answers of formats and hardware and blah blah blah, but I was hoping with how amazing your packs and content are that you might know. I know this is huge comment but Ship of Harkinian claims I can use, for example, your 3ds texture pack, but only Djipi's seems to work and I've noticed your file formats are different from his 3ds texture pack.
I second this! Ship of harkinian is easily the best way to play from a gameplay experience, but with henriko's textures and reshade, Citra is the prettiest. So to see these textures on SoH would be the best of both worlds
will you make another update for mario sunshine ?
Yep!
