Zelda: Twilight Princess 4K Texture Pack 4.0 Update - The Faithful Update
========================================================================
Post Edits:
Xbox + Playstation 4K UI Addon Update v1.0b (2026-06-21): A small fix for the new Xbox + Playstation 4K UI Addon has been released to address an issue with some icons now displaying the correct icons, and an alternative layout "Reversed Square & Circle" layout for the Playstation layout has been added!
New Addon Release (2026-06-20): The long awaited update to the old Playstation & Xbox UI layout addons has been released, and is now fully combined into a single "Xbox + Playstation 4K UI Addon" (download link is at the bottom of this post). This addon has been completely remade from scratch to work with Dusklight, and is also much nicer looking than before. There is also an optional "glass" layout available for those who prefer the UI to be a bit more translucent than in the original.
Patch #4 (2026-06-19): Another patch for the TP 4K texture pack, v4.0d, has been released to fix several problems, including an issue where some HD textures for icons wouldn't load, a crash on Dusklight for Switch, a fix for some environment textures not loading in 4.0b and 4.0c, plus it adds improved environment textures in and around Kakariko Village & Death Mountain.
Patch #3 2026-06-18: Another small patch, v4.0c, has been released to address an issue with some item icons not displaying correctly in Dusklight.
Patch #2 2026-06-17: Another small patch, v4.0b, has been released and includes major improvements to the performance of the texture pack in Dusklight. Textures are now encoded in ASTC for Android, and includes merged mip-maps in BC7 format for all other platforms- which boosts load times, reduces stuttering, reduces jittering in distant textures, improves the frame rate and also reduces the pack's file size by a fair margin with no loss in quality. To update simply delete prior installed versions of the pack and install the new one (do not replace existing files, a clean installation is recommended!)
Patch #1 2026-06-05: A small patch, v4.0a, has been released to address some issues with the 4.0 release. This includes a fix for eyelids on characters not displaying correctly, tweaks to skin tones, color tweaks to the Hylian Shield and more. To update from 4.0 or earlier, just replace the whole GZ2 folder with the updated one from 4.0a.
========================================================================
Good evening! 🌒
I’m very excited to announce version 4.0 of my Zelda: Twilight Princess 4K texture pack!
This is, without question, the most faithful and polished update the project has received so far, introducing over 240 new faithful 4K textures across the game. In fact, this update is so faithful to the original artistic style of the original game, that I've decided to give this update a subtitle: "The Faithful Update"
This update includes a large number of new environment textures, a fully reworked UI, improvements to character textures, new and refined post-processing shaders, as well as many fixes, tweaks and general improvements, and of course full and greatly improved support for Dusklight and Courage Reborn (the PC ports projects). A significant amount of work has also gone into preparing the pack for future updates and new features made possible because of these ports.
There’s a lot to cover here, so here’s the more detailed changelog:
New environment textures!
Like in previous updates, a major focus of version 4.0 has been expanding and improving the game’s environment textures. Over 240 new 4K textures have been added in this update, making it a little bit smaller than 3.0 in the sheer amount of new textures changed. However, don't let this number fool you! This is not an incremental update, but a complete overhaul in most regards, which you will notice if you compare it to 3.0 and prior versions. The file layout has changed entirely this time around as well, with all textures now neatly sorted into areas and categories, making my textures much easier to merge with other texture projects if you so wish!
Most in-game areas have received extensive texture updates, and many regions that previously had partial coverage have now been improved to feel more cohesive and complete. The new textures cover (but are not limited to) the following areas:
Sacred Grove (Completely overhauled)
Lost Woods (Completely overhauled)
Hyrule Field (Multiple regions, Completely overhauled)
Ordon Village (Completely overhauled)
Ordon Ranch (Completely overhauled)
Ordon Spring (Completely overhauled)
Faron Woods (Completely overhauled)
Hyrule Castle Town and surrounding areas (Completely overhauled)
Lake Hylia (Completely overhauled)
Gerudo Province (Completely overhauled)
Snowpeak Province (Completely overhauled)
Kakariko Village
Zora River
Several additional dungeons and sub-areas
Unlike some earlier updates, this version doesn’t focus on just a few specific locations, and most areas of the game have been revisited in some way. Hyrule Field, the Faron region and Sacred Grove have seen especially significant improvements in this update. Visual effects have also been updated and now look substantially higher quality than before.
Completely reworked UI!
Version 3.0 included a fully reworked user interface, with most UI elements recreated at higher resolutions. Version 4.0 builds on this and includes a lot more!
New icon textures for the remaining missing icons.
More consistent presentation across menus, HUD elements and icons
Remade several icons to better match the original style.
Visual adjustments intended to stay faithful to the original design whilst still being high fidelity.
The updated UI is intended to better match the overall quality level of the texture pack and provide a more comfortable experience when playing at modern resolutions without style clashes or pixelation.
Improved character textures!
Character textures have received a broad quality pass in this update.
Many key characters, NPCs and enemies have been revisited to:
Improve overall texture quality
Increase quality consistency
Better align with the original game’s visual style
The intent here is refinement rather than redesign, focusing on subtle improvements that help the textures blend more naturally with the rest of the game.
Dusklight additions!
Since the last version, many major developments in the Twilight Princess-community has occured, including the release of Dusklight (previously called 'Dusk'), a PC port of the game! This version offers many substantial improvements over the emulated version in Dolphin, such as support for high frame rates (60 fps and beyond), easier modding, tons of quality of life improvements and improved quality in many ways. The last version of my texture pack partially supported Dusklight already, but it had major flaws and many textures were missing or didn't display correctly at all in Dusklight. This has now been fixed with version 4.0, and all missing textures from the 3.0 version now show in Dusklight correctly!
Also, there are major improvements coming to the pack in terms of efficiency and optimizations. The 'Mobile Edition' of the pack will be receiving an upgrade to it's file format for the textures, theoretically reducing the file size of the pack by over 150% and increasing load times and boosting performance even further. This upgrade is still in the works, but should become available as a small patch to 4.0 later!
Increased consistency and overall quality improvements!
A large portion of the work in this update has gone into revisiting older textures to improve consistency across the pack.
Older HD textures have been cleaned up or adjusted
Reduced visual inconsistencies between neighboring areas
More cohesive presentation throughout the game
The goal is to enhance visual clarity and consistency while respecting the original game’s art direction.
Fixes, tweaks and other improvements!
In addition to new textures, version 4.0 includes:
Numerous texture fixes and UV alignment fixes
Small visual tweaks across many areas
General cleanup and polish throughout the pack
These changes help improve overall quality and presentation, even if they’re not always immediately noticeable and only become apparent if you focus on the details.
What are the differences between the "Post-Processing Edition" and the "Standard Edition"?
There are two bundled pre-configured versions of Dolphin you can use included with the pack, if you choose to use the pack in Dolphin (not Dusklight or Courage Reborn). One is the "Post Processing Edition", which includes all the post processing effects showcased in the trailer like ambient occlusion, tone mapping, bloom and more. The other version is the "Standard Edition" which doesn't include these features but has some other benefits instead.
The Post Processing Edition utilizes Ishiiruka Dolphin to achieve these features, and has some graphical features implemented not available in regular Dolphin at all. It also requires Windows (not compatible with MacOS or Linux) and a dedicated graphics card. Both editions include a controller preset for common gamepads like Xbox One, PS4/PS5, GameCube etc. The standard edition version alleviates some bugs present in Ishiiruka Dolphin (increased stability, for example) and supports MacOS & Linux, too! But does not support any of the additional graphical features listed above, like material maps, custom tone mapping, HD bloom, depth of field or ambient occlusion. Both versions look stunning so if you're uncertain I recommend you play the standard version- or try out both and see which one you prefer! The screenshots above have been taken using the post-processing edition.
That's mostly it for this update. Enjoy!
There are two versions available for download: The 4K version and the 1080p version. Both are identical except for the textures resolution being halved in the 1080p version compared to 4K!
Note: The 4K version will look a bit better than the 1080p version, even if you don't have a 4K display. This is because the textures are physically larger and contain more detail in the 4K version, no matter what resolution display you're using!
(The texture pack does not work on real Gamecube/Wii/Wii U consoles).
Read more information about the texture pack on my website!
Updating from an older version is super simple:
For Dolphin users: Just copy & paste the "GC" and "Wii" folders inside the "User" folder in the texture pack directory over to the new version's User folder and it should work straight away!
For Dusklight / Courage Reborn users: Just delete (don't overwrite, delete!) the existing "GZ2" folder from a prior version's texture-replacements folder with the new one from this version and that should do the trick!
Note: Dusklight 1.4.1 or later is required to use the texture pack in Dusklight.
Download it from here!

Please, any texture pack for Pokemon Stadium
Is there a way to change the button layout so that for example on an xbox controller the B button on the Gamecube controller is X on the Xbox controller?
Is there a way to change the places where the buttons show on the controller addon? Like I fight with X on my Xbox controller for example so I want it to show that X is the sword button
which version should I download if I'm using Dolphin on my AYN Thor?
Your work is very nice, but the texture of the face of Link has nothing to do with the original. If you do a more faithfull version of the texture of his face, your texture pack will be perfect.
when i start the Ishiiruka Dolphin it says dx11: dxtexture failed
Not sure if it’s been noted or if it’s intentional, but all the beautiful dark colour and Sheikah shapes on Zelda’s cloak in the first cutscene with her are completely missing and it looks almost greyish brown. Edit to add: I’m playing on Dusklight
goat
for dolphin edition 1080p pc edition or 4k dolphin edition?
Hello, my fishing rod plus lure texture seems to not update with the pack. am i missing a file?
I am emulating the HD Wii U version with cemu on the AYN Thor. Can I use your texture pack and if yes, how is the workaround?
lost my zelda TP iso , having trouble getting my hands on the right one.
The Nintendo Switch version is now 100% functional: https://github.com/givethesourceplox/dusklight-NX/releases Enconter is working on the official port, check the Dusklight Discord: https://discord.gg/CGhngJhHSB But I would also like to see a texture option for Nintendo Switch controllers since it will now have official Dusklight support!
I am pretty sure it's a mistake but for the new Xbox Layout the buttons RB, LB, LT and RT are shown as the PS equivalent L1, L2 and so on.
On the Xbox layout RB is shown as R1
Thank you for the update for the UI layout!!! Love you’re work!! Maybe it’s just me but a PlayStation layout issue with X showing up twice, or I messed something up during the installation. Also Square is no show
It was an issue with file dimensions causing problems with the DDS conversion, try the new 1.0a version and it should fix it!
Looks like version 4.0d does not have a GZ2 folder I am wondering is it needed? or just the contents in the folder are what's needed?
The GZ2 naming is no longer needed in Dusklight, so the folder has been renamed to make organisation of multiple texture packs easier!
Any update on when the PlayStation buttons UI pack might be ready? I tried with the 2.0 pack and cannot get them to work even though I saw that they should somewhere? Thank you for the wonderful work Henriko.
Thank You So Much For All Of This.
Hello again! I already asked this same question in the Discord, but, is the texture pack not fully done yet? I'm seeing a lot of vanilla, blurry textures in the Forest Temple alongside the ones found in v4.0c. Outstanding work nonetheless, no need to feel pressured!
This is a bug in the pack due to some textures not being in power of 2 dimensions, which breaks merged mip maps used by the new 4.0b compression system. I'm working on a fix for this which I will upload here ASAP, sorry for this inconvenience!
so any new about the ps4 buttons on this update? am still using v3 waitting for the 4v to work with the ps4 buttons
There is a mod in Gamebanana for it
Does this new update fix the textures loading too late?(usually during cutscenes) Could just be dusk light but idk
I haven't encountered any issues like it with 4.0b on the latest version of Dusklight!
Hi! Dumb question, but, which version is more suitable for Dusklight on Steam Deck? 4K, or 1080p?
1080p should perform better and looks basically the same as the 4K version on Steamdeck!
Man you did a great job with this texture pack it really does work really well On dusk and loads very fast The beta one had issue with the cutscenes but I’m sure it’s fixed in this one
I'm getting artifacts around objects overlapping with water in the 4.0 version that I did not get with the 3.0 version. Any suggestions? These textures look fantastic btw!
Is this on Dolphin or in Dusklight?
Had to support my goat! Thank you for everything you do :D
I'm noticing a lot of characters have eyelids which are a completely different color than their skin tone. It's pretty easy to see at the start of the game with characters like Rusl during the intro, and Link when he's using hawk grass or horse grass. Later on, I did end up merging this with TPDE (where DE just fills out any textures untouched by this pack) and it became really distracting on a lot of characters, especially Mayor Bo and Ilia.
Fixed in version 4.0a!
I was confused when I couldn't find the download link on the website but this makes sense, excited to continue my dusk playthough with the new pack, you earned a couple bucks from me for sure lol
Any recommended settings for using this with dusk? Love the pack btw!
The default should be pretty good, just increase the internal resolution as far as you're able and maybe change filtering to "Area" for optimal visuals :)
so any chance to update playstation buttons as well so it can work with the v4.0? still using v3 cause it work with the buttons
Working on it!
Can I use the 4k pc edition pack with the android version of Dusk? or should I be using the mobile version?
If you're using Android then use the mobile edition.
this was worth way more than 5AUD haha. Love the pack!
It says data quota exceeded for 4k pc and wont let me download
Try one of the other two mirror links!
theres no dolphin version download in the mirror link. could you please add it?
This. I didn't fork out money to be denied.
Will the different controller buttons like playstation get updated too or are the 2.0 versions still good enough to match the new 4.0 textures?
came here to ask this same question +1
dolphin or pc version for dusklight?
PC version!
downloaded 4k dolphin version looks stunning
