"Contact" started out as a proposal for a movie (in my memory - I could google it, but...). I was looking forward to that even before the novel. The ending of the novel was life-changing to me. And then it was years and years and years later before the movie came out (well after Carl had died) and I was so disappointed that they changed the ending to be 180 degrees different than the book! I still recommend the movie (although there are other things I dislike about it), but the book - way way better. And the book captures the cold war in a way that is, IMO, informative to people who didn't live through it. PS: Zelda is by far your coolest Patron.
Enemy Mine! Still a classic! I laughed at the Tentacle creature and the shell alien. I don't remember them looking so fake and horrible movements.
How large an array of corner retroreflectors aould you need to see a flash frtom a pulse laser? Assume that the laser beam has been expanded in a 20 inch reflector to minimise divergence.
Great show as always, Fraser. Thanks so much 👍
