Your DMM Library now knows which movie you have
Your Library now recognizes your movies. Once all your debrid services finish loading, DMM checks every movie in it, and when it's sure, the title parsed from the filename is replaced with the real one from IMDb plus a blue verified check. Click the row and the info popup shows the movie poster. The Search again button becomes Go to movie page and takes you straight there.
Release names are messy. The title can be in another language, the year can be glued to a dash, a site tag can sit in front, Cyrillic can arrive mangled into strings like Áóíò íà êîðàáëå, and a sequel can look almost exactly like the original. My first try was AI embedding models that compare the meaning of two pieces of text. They did fine, but a much simpler approach beat them by a wide margin.
So this is a new service that reads a release name the way a scene parser does, pulls out the title and year, and repairs broken text encoding. Then it searches every movie title together with its alternate titles in other languages, about 2.7 million names, by matching three letter fragments of words. That's why typos, joined words like riobravo and a Russian title for The Place Beyond the Pines all still find the right film. The top candidates then go to a small ranking model that weighs how close each title is, whether the year matches and how popular the movie is, and picks one.
The model learned from the files DMM users actually streamed, and I tested it on movies it never saw while training. It picks the right movie about 9 times out of 10. The verified check only appears when the winner is far ahead of the runner up, and those answers were right about 98% of the time. When it isn't sure, the row stays exactly as before, and a name like 00000 never gets a check. Every answer is remembered, so the next time anyone loads the same release it comes back instantly.
It only does movies for now. TV shows are next.
