Vicki has returned from her whirlwind tour of Europe and Goes Off for 45 minutes, because she tasted the fruit of the fae of functional transit systems and walkable cities. She got Reverse Paris Syndrome (Stendhal Syndrome???), and now America tastes as ash in her mouth, and she has some thoughts. Sorry you gotta deal with it y'all

Having lived in Europe growing up, in many ways the US feels like a bunch of people squabbling over whether heavier than air flight could ever be possible, or whether only balloons could possibly be viable... While the rest of the world is in the current year. And any attempt to build so much as a glider is widely considered to cause the collapse of society and is met with popular and state violence.
I want you to know I *do* really enjoy listening, in part because it's such a relief to hear someone actually acknowledge how bleak things are, when I'm surrounded by nothing but people going "nah, it's fine, line go up forever"
