Where do we go from here

Hey folks.

I tried my best to ignore the staggering amount of hate that the Internet vomited at me during the last few weeks.

I've been called retarded, a fag.ot, a disgrace to all, a greedy sh.t, a fu.king greedy loser, an entitled idiot, delusional, a pretentious fu.kin asswipe, an awful money hungry demon, one of the dumbest people alive, an absolute scumbag, a lazy corrupt ignorant POS, human garbage, moron, imbecile, clown, stupid ass n.gga, greedy c.nt. [Edit: apparently it’s perfectly fine if those words are hurled at me and nobody cares, but if I republish them people get upset. So spelling altered.]

The list just goes on forever. If you can think of an insult, no matter how far-fetched, it was there. In all its possible variations.

They say that my work is a cancer to the gaming industry. That I deserve one of two things, be sued into oblivion, or have my work implemented into games by the devs, without giving me any credit, under the threat of retaliatory litigation.

And so on.

Not only that, but disinformation piled up exponentially. With the sole exception of IGN, whose Director of News Wesley Yin-Poole was very professional and actually behaved like a journalist, corresponding with me to hear out my side of things, EVERY other news outlet just posted and reposted what read more and more like AI slop, hallucinations that grew further away from reality as each day went by.

Can I have a side of facts to go with those hallucinations, please?

So, even though haters are not going to bother reading through this, and journalists are now an endangered species which is fast disappearing from the planet, I'm going to post here my full conversation with CD PROJEKT as it actually unfolded. Due to privacy law restrictions I will only publish my own side of the exchange verbatim, and sum up the other side (although I'm fine making the entire thread public if CDPR gives me explicit permission to do so).

When the DMCA notice arrived on Jan 9, 2026, my R.E.A.L. VR framework (a flat-to-VR conversion software that analyzes and interfaces with games to provide immersive VR output) had been supporting Cyberpunk 2077 for almost 4 years; since Feb 26, 2022, to be precise.

During that 4-year period, there had been only one official contact between me/my business associates and CDPR. The text of our email to them, dated Sep 14, 2022, follows (some names have been redacted for privacy):

Dear Business Team,

Thank you for your exceptional games and services. [Redacted] commented that I should drop your team a note about a potential joint marketing opportunity around Cyberpunk 2077.

My colleagues and I are VR enthusiasts, seeking to expand the experience of games with exceptional art for re-discovery in the use of HDMI connected VR headsets. Cyberpunk 2077 plays very well when ported to support stereoscopic view in VR Head Mounted Displays.

We would like to explore the opportunity to package the VR porting framework of Luke Ross for a distributed DLC (via Gog and Steam) which would unlock a new level of experience for your customers who have already purchased the game and which would likely generate extensive new interest in new customer purchases among first-time VR players who tether to a PC.

Could you put us in touch with the appropriate person to discuss a branded DLC file that we could jointly promote/distribute?

Warm Regards,

[Redacted]

Some examples of the gameplay rendered: Cyberpunk 2077 R.E.A.L. VR Teaser

This disclosure and business enquiry email got a reply from CDPR's Business Development & Legal on Oct 12, 2022, stating that they were not looking for VR porting opportunities for Cyberpunk 2077 at the moment, but that if things should change on their end in the future they would make sure to contact us directly.

Please note that even in case they had been living under a rock, ignoring all the Internet talk and YouTube videos about how good Cyberpunk 2077 looked in VR, the previous exchange is unequivocal proof that BizDev and Legal knew about my conversion framework and decided they were fine with it existing.

Then out of the blue, more than three years later, CDPR issued a DMCA notice demanding the immediate takedown of two of my posts including the latest R.E.A.L. VR version compatible with CP2077, with the motivation "The infringer is uploading a VR mod for Cyberpunk 2077. Because access to the mod is paid, it does not comply with our rules regarding fan content. Therefore, this mod constitutes an infringement of our rights".

Please note that the fantasy scenario where CDPR contacted me asking that I make the mod free, and I stubbornly refused (some even said twice), and it was only after my denials that they issued the DMCA... that scenario is just a hallucination dreamed up either by sloppy journalism, or by AI and botnets, or by the careless echo chamber of social media hate. The DMCA arrived after years of absolute silence, and Patreon immediately removed the posts before I was even informed of the notice. Again, this is not Patreon's fault, as the law basically compels them to do that.

There was no warning, discussion or anything of the sort. CD PROJEKT S.A. knew about the VR conversion for years, they enjoyed the additional sales and game appreciation it brought to them, then one day woke up on the wrong side of the bed and decided to push a button and nuke it from orbit. Other versions you read on the Internet are either made up through disinformation or deliberately distorted.

When the DMCA hit, I wanted to be positive and to ascribe the notice to a clerical error (how could CDPR suddenly want to prevent so many of their fans from playing the game in the fully immersive way they loved, after years of tacit approval), so I decided NOT to act publicly until I found out more from them. Some of my Patrons noticed the disappearance of my two posts, but I didn't comment on it.

On Jan 10, the day after being notified of the DMCA strike, I wrote the following email to legal@cdprojektred.com:

Hello.

I am the creator of the R.E.A.L. VR framework, a software that allows high quality fruition in Virtual Reality of 40+ AAA games, including Cyberpunk 2077.

I received through Patreon a DMCA notice related to your game, in particular for "infringement of [your] rights" as pertains to your "rules regarding fan content" and "also trademark infringement".

The notice arrives after almost 4 years during which gamers have enjoyed playing Cyberpunk 2077 in VR immensely, often calling it the best VR experience they ever had, on par with Half Life: Alyx. For reference, Half-Life: Alyx is universally considered the most defining title for Virtual Reality.

While I'm more than willing to comply with the takedown request, and immediately cancel Cyberpunk 2077 from the growing list of titles that I support, doing so would harm a sizable proportion of your player base, who have grown used to playing CP2077 in VR as the most immersive and emotionally involving way of experiencing the gameplay and world design. Many of those users have actually bought the game with the sole purpose of playing it in VR. I do not have hard data on this, but the additional sales that the game got as a result of my enabling VR fruition range from several thousands to possibly hundreds of thousands of copies.

Here are a few examples of highly viewed YouTube videos that you can reference to verify my claims:

"Cyberpunk 2077 in VR is UNBELIEVABLE": https://youtu.be/YQ_qsSLk54s

"The Correct Way To Play Cyberpunk 2077": https://youtu.be/NJa2YBxqu5g

"The BEST VR game…that isn’t a VR game": https://youtu.be/q02UCNXLJY8

"CYBERPUNK 2077 VR on a 4090 is MINDBLOWING": https://youtu.be/dYHhVfcaXFA

I can provide other links on request.

I would like to discuss this alleged infringement of your rights with you, and if possible to find a mutually beneficial solution that is not harmful to both your and my user bases, so as to avoid any backlash.

Here are for your consideration a few key points that I would like to stress:

1. all my conversions require users to own an original (not pirated) copy of the game before installing my software, therefore they can only increase sales and never harm them;

2. I always make it abundantly clear in all my posts that all the trademarks and copyrights are the property of the original owners, and I in no way claim that they belong to me or that I have any affiliation with the developers or publishers of the games;

3. I provide no "fan content". My software offers no additional or replacement content of any kind; it simply enables a different kind of visualization. As a matter of fact, all my VR conversions always aim to maintain exactly the same gameplay experience as the original flat (2D) games in all practical aspects and whenever possible, except for the added immersion;

4. I do not have a paywall. While I certainly need the support of my user base in order to provide this extremely high level of quality and fidelity, my software can be used indefinitely and without restrictions even after the user has canceled their subscription or even closed their Patreon account.

I am positive that we can find a way to understand each other's positions and allow users to keep enjoying this very unique experience. Please write back and let us establish a communication channel.

Best regards,

Luke Ross

Legal did not reply or even acknowledge receiving my letter. So on Jan 13 I tried contacting the CDPR representative who had interacted with us back in 2022, sending them the following message:

Dear [Redacted],

We never met directly but I'm forwarding this message to you because in 2022 you were the one to reply to our enquiries regarding a VR conversion for Cyberpunk 2077.

I don't know if you are still working on the game or with CD Projekt at all, but if you are I would urge you to read the forwarded message. Following the takedown of a couple of recent posts of mine, in compliance with your DMCA notice, some of my Patreon supporters are getting antsy and I will need to make some public comments one way or the other before the matter gets picked up by YouTubers and/or the press.

Please let me know what you think.

With warm regards,

Luke

The email bounced back, leading me to think that specific person was no longer working with CDPR, so I forwarded the message to Jan Rosner, VP of Business Development:

Dear Jan,

We never met directly but I'm forwarding this message to you because my contact from a few years ago ([Redacted]) no longer seems to be reachable at her email address, so I guess she is not on your team anymore.

I would appreciate it if you could read the forwarded message and let me know what you think. Hopefully we can start a conversation. Following the takedown of a couple of recent posts of mine, in compliance with your DMCA notice, some of my Patreon supporters are getting antsy and I will need to make some public comments one way or the other before the matter gets picked up by YouTubers and/or the press.

With my best regards,

Luke

Jan Rosner replied just one hour later. He did not enter into any details, and did not seem willing to discuss my points in order to reach a business understanding so that users would not be impacted. He just politely stated that Legal would get back to me in due course, 1-2 biz days, and that they had issues with my content being monetized (as opposed to being available completely free of charge).

I replied as follows:

Dear Jan,

the pleasure is mine.

I understand the reasoning of course. However I don't think that it should apply to this case, because of several factors:

1. the software I write enables VR viewing for many games (40+ and counting), not just CP2077;

2. while I do need the support of my patrons in order to write this kind of highly complex software, the mod is not "for sale" (for example there are no restrictions in using it while not being my subscriber, or even not having an active Patreon account);

3. we did reach out to your team back in 2022, and your reply was "we are not looking for VR porting opportunities for Cyberpunk 2077 at the moment. If this should change on our end in the future, we will make sure to contact you directly."

Apart from the upcoming legal answer, which I look forward to, what I'm trying to achieve here is a solution that is beneficial to all parties involved: you, your fans and customers, and the small but not negligible user base that just loves playing your game in VR.

While it's somehow understandable that you would like all mods to be free of charge, the reality of the matter is that we are not talking about a simple tweaking of parameters or upscaling of textures that can be done in one's spare time. My framework takes a huge effort and time investment to develop and maintain. Actually, if you'll allow me a little tongue-in-cheek, keeping your game playable in VR during these years required more effort than most, because of your constant updates that kept breaking all mods :-)

So, jokes aside, I cannot afford to keep the VR conversion working without the support of my patrons. And I really don't want to have this end up in a lose-lose scenario where I need to drop CP2077 (and possibly additional future conversions of games from your company, like the Witcher 3 which everybody has been asking me to make playable in VR) from the ever growing list of titles I support, with our mutual user bases being forcibly kicked out from one of the top experiences available in VR today.

What do you say? Can we find a collaborative solution? I sincerely don't believe anybody is harming anyone here.

No reply. There was no further contact for three days. Since it was becoming hard for me to keep this matter strictly hush-hush (a full week had gone by, and many Patron were wondering why the software was no longer available under their monthly subscription) I prompted CDPR again on Jan 16, and got dismissed by Jan Rosner who just said that Legal would follow up with me. Zero comments about what would happen to users.

Legal of course simply restated what they have in their Fan Content Guidelines.

On Jan 17 I could no longer hide the matter from subscribers, so I published the post "Another one bites the dust". On Jan 19 Jan Rosner put up a brief post of his own on X (https://x.com/jan_rosner/status/2013219892405604457), and my reply to it got half a million views and all the hate you can think of, and then some.

I'm making this public because many people have been asking to hear my side of the story. I'm also leaving the comment section open. All kinds of constructive discussions and opinions are welcome, but refrain from personal attacks, name calling, profanity and insults or your comment will be deleted.

Don't listen to the negative comments. I just joined and now I'm playing doom and dead space in VR and getting ready to get Crimson desert set up also thanks to you I can play games that I've only dreamed about playing in VR thank you so much for everything you do and if it wasn't for you and pray dog, I would have no reason to play VR because native VR games suck

New sub here, so I dont even have access to the CP2077 part of R.E.A.L. VR. I just wanted to say I really appreciate the work and passion you put into this project. As someone who has also (though on a MUCH smaller scale) been on the receiving end of uncalled for internet vitriol, do your best to ignore the haters and know that your supporters and fans greatly appreciate you. (I had to bring it up in therapy, maybe try that? It was helpful).

Hi Luke, thank you for all your work over the years. I would probably have stopped investing in VR years ago if we're not for modders and you on particular. You got me playing titles I would never have even looked at twice (Final fantasy and Far Cry for instance never interested me but now I'm sold). Try to ignore the knuckle dragging trolls (not easy I'm sure). These idiots will complain cos they heard someone else did and not do any more research themselves. Sadly this is the standard of internet discussion these days. Good luck to you, stay safe and I'll (and many many others) will be supporting you.

Luke, all I can say is: your work has provided me so much value that I would and will continue to support you financially regardless of what direction you end up taking and what we might lose in the process. Your framework has made VR a worthwhile experience in a way not a single “real” VR game has. Not only did I buy Cyberpunk 2077 on PC solely to experience it in VR, I upgraded my PC solely for better performance when using your framework. Zero regrets btw. I know how hard it is, bc our brains are just wired to focus on the hate and criticism more than the praise, but I rly hope you can find a way to shut out the noise, as hard and unfair as it is, from the trolls and idiots who have probably never even touched a HMD. Read the comments under this post. REALLY read them, and take them in. The impact you've had on people's enjoyment of this hobby is real, and huge, and the level of support from those who actually use your product and have supported you on this journey is OVERWHELMING. I know I wouldn't find it either in your position either - jfc for something so awesome the internet fkn sucks - but I wish you every chance to focus and embrace the outpouring of positivity from those who matter - your actual customers. The idea that this level of work should be provided for free is a level of entitlement that deeply disgusts me, and people’s justification of that being “right” just because “CDPR said so” deeply saddens me. It’s a level of corporate bootlicking that you would hope anyone who has actually played CP77 would not stoop to, and it’s the kind of “reasoning” that suggests people’s moral development or ability to judge the morality of their own and others’ actions stopped in primary school. Based on my understanding of the situation (not being a lawyer myself, but having discussed it with a few friends in the field), it does not strike me that CDPR's position is particularly strong. The problem of course - which is what makes this corpo behaviour so disgusting - is that it doesn't really matter if you would ultimately win or lose if you sued them or they sued you. For you, it would be a massive emotional and financial burden regardless of outcome, while for the decision makers at CDPR, neither the emotional nor financial burden will register at all, because (comparatively) they have neither. And that's what it basically boils down to. It doesn't actually matter "who's right." It doesn't actually matter who would succeed in a legal dispute. It doesn't actually matter what is moral or right. The only thing that matters is they can make your life a living hell with zero effort or consequence. Which is fucked up - especially because you would hope a publicly traded company would actually follow their legally required mandate to maximise returns for shareholders, which destroying your livelihood (that only ever increased sales of their game) and sending an internet hate mob your way definitely does not. Unfortunately, so little of what we learn about markets, corporate governance, etc. in economics actually holds up in the real world - bc almost all of it depends on people being rational actors. But out in the real world, for whatever reason, there are plenty of business leaders who will do something "just because they can" - because they like how powerful it makes them feel, or because they just woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. And we have to live with the consequences. Whatever comes next - I hope you prioritise YOU, your health, your future, your financial wellbeing, over everything else. You owe this community, and the wider gaming community, NOTHING. Those of us who paid for your product got our money's worth many times over - and those that haven't given you a cent don't really deserve an opinion on the matter tbh. I would love to see any of the hate mob commenters' reactions if they walked into work Monday morning and their boss told them they should happily work for free from now on - because their work should be about PASSION, and the gratitude of their community should be payment enough. I'm sure those peeps would be real excited to try to pay for their family's needs with gratitude and passion, not dollars, when the monthly bills come due. Keep your head held high mate.

Luke, there are a lot of us. I have never had any interest in playing on of the 2D games regardless of their popularity. But from the day I saw the first YouTube describing what you were making possible, those games (in 2D) that I was ignoring were suddenly on my "must have" list. CP was the first I purchased simply on the hope your software was half as good as what I was hearing. It turned out to be twice as good! I have spent countless hours in CP and later Avatar just to name two, totally immersed in game play in a way that is just not possible without 3D. It's clear CD Projekt could care less about a small segment of their most enthusiastic fans. Too bad Reeves doesn't know what pricks they are being. He's the one part of that franchise I know actually cares about the fans and fair play in general. Luke, like many other supporters, I would happily follow you to any other platform and wish CD Projekt good ridding's if that's the way they want to play lt.

Such a shame that you need to justify your position but haters will be haters. Just want to say Luke that you can add me to the list of folk who would never have sunk the hours into CP w/o your mod. I have a total of over 1500 hrs in the game, and only 60-odd hours of that was my initial pancake play through. Not only did your VR framework make me keep playing the game for (literally!) years, but it was the sole reason I bought Phantom Liberty. And still to this day (as a gamer with almost 50 years of experience since the Atari/C64/ZX81/Spectrum days) when I’m asked what are my favourite games, CP (with the emphasised “IN VR”) is always near the top of my list. Keep on Keeping on, my friend, the service you (and Brandon etc!) provide to the gaming community is peerless, and very much appreciated.Take care of yourself, Bill

Make games whose publishers ask for the removal of the mod free and leave Patreon. Make your own server, put it on a public network (even if you put it in your basement at home) and then DMCA requests will come to you directly. No one will automatically block the operation of the site that you operate and run on your own hardware. If a DMCA comes, you will remove that game and make its further maintenance a secondary priority. After all, this server can accommodate free and paid content. You can continue to develop the free content in your free time, and this will solve the problem. No one can say a bad word about if a mod comes for such a game and the change is not made until a month later, since it was free, and you should draw attention to this there. This will always be the case, but there is not much you can do about it. If they don't want a VR port for it, it won't be, and that's it. This of course requires some development, but I don't think anyone who can handle a cp2077 vr mod would need months to set up a site that offers access to the paid and free versions via a PayPal payment option. (Let's say I personally would have done so much as to separate the paid and non-paid content in the bat, then if the people who downloaded it hack it back, it's their responsibility). This can be done in a few hours, and you still have to maintain one version.

Literally half of my game purchases in recent years have been because your mod made them VRable. Games like Avatar and the Farcry games were of no interest to me until you modded them. I argued on X against the haters, and it became evident that many of those offering "opinions" were not even invested in VR at all and were just championing free labor for some inexplicable reason. Anyone who knows the abject dismissal and even contempt AAA gaming companies have shown to the VR community in recent years loves and appreciates your commitment to the platform. I just picked up a very cheap PSVR2 and walked through the moonlit jungles of Pandora in glowing OLED VR and was so grateful that such a thing exists. Stay strong.

You should make the cyberpunk 2077 vr mod free. And then when they release the next patch or update which you know they will do inside of a few months at most it’ll break the mod and they can be the ones that are blamed lmao. Corporate assholes. Funny how the game is legit all against corpo ect and the company does this. I’m all for your mod and what you’re doing. Some people are just jealous or upset cuz you are doing something they can’t even understand how to create or make. So glad I got to play through the game before this happened. Hi Luke, I've been with you early on and still am. I feel for you as you are in a rock and and a hard place right now. Lots of people are suggesting the vorpx route or something similar and I think thats a decent idea, but unfortunately, now that you are on the radar, not sure if some companies legal teams will care if you claim to make the "game profiles" free while putting the actual injector behind a paywall. For sure at this point it seems like you need to say goodbye to Patreon as one more incident and you are banned. So hopefully you can establish your own independent site and I'm thinking just keep doing what you are doing (maybe use the vorpx idea or don't) but any games that a company complains about, take them out of the paywall and put them in their own FREE category, injector and all. (you would make it so the free injector only works with the free games) For the FREE games, you could still have a "donate" button. Then keep pumping out a game a month under a paywall and hopefully your library will outpace take downs and you can still keep making a living.

The VR community canabilizes itself since they cannot accept, that this amount of work is more than hobby modding. It is a job. But i am sure the same people are already complaining again, that VR is dying because there is not enough content. You cannot make this up... I really hope, you find a way to go on with your tremendous work.

My hearth stopped for a moment when I saw Witcher 3 being mentioned as a possible future conversion. Please Luke, make this happen. Only you can do it. Even if you would release it for free (to please CDPR), I would still pay/donate for it. It's one of the most sough after title waiting to be VR-ified.

The entirety of attacks predicate on a few simple falsehoods: (1) that Luke supposedly uses trademarked or copyrighted material which (2) he then charges for, and that (3) the mod should be made available for free on GitHub or some other platform. Neither of these are either true or feasible. To make these points abundantly clear to anyone else reading this - Luke's mod doesn't contain any code created by game devs. It's a product that is written in its entirety from scratch. Yes, it serves to work *with* a paid product, but as an accessory, and accessories can (and do) be sold. This is akin to BoboVR head strap which isn't free, and works with a paid product like Quest 3. Certainly one doesn't expect BoboVR strap to be distributed for free? And with regards to trademarks, when Luke posts a picture or a video of VR gameplay of a specific game on Patreon, that's clearly fair use. Again, similar to BoboVR that has a photo of the product attached to a Meta Quest 3 headset (on the box that you can get only if you pay for), said photo can also be found online, much like Ross posts his previews on YT and other social media. That's fair use no matter how you slice it. And lastly (and perhaps most importantly), there already is a legal precedent: see Galoob v. Nintendo (9th cir. 1992). This was about a product that modified gameplay in real time, did not create any durable copies, did not incorporate any of the game’s original source code or assets, and worked with multiple games rather than being built on the foundation of a single title. And to those who use UEVR as an example of "how VR mods could be distributed for free" this assertion is just an opinion, and one most frequently made by those who never get to put in the amount of work needed to develop something of this magnitude. Luke made this project a full-time endeavor, and it's only fair if he decides to make it accessible though Patreon. Yes, he could put the DMCA-stricken mods as a stand-alone free product on Git and continue his work on Patreon for other titles. But that would very likely open up path for a barrage of fake DMCA notices against Patreon in an effort to make other games similarly released for free. And even if that weren't the case, again, it's his product about which to weigh the pros and cons of those judgements, not anyone else's. As someone who has experienced similar hate, I can tell you that it feels very lonely and demoralizing. Only those who come to one's defense make it all worth it in the end. So, if you're reading this, you, the reader, can now set the record straight when you come across shitty comments and attacks of that sort online. Now you have the ammo to do so.

T
TJ · February 22, 2026

Probably the most analogous product is VorpX, which is paid. I genuinely wonder if Luke would have been left alone if he simply didn't use the word "mod" in the name.

G
Goooost · February 22, 2026

In case it isn't obvious, I will tell you *exactly* why CDPR made this decision NOW, after 4 years of having seemingly no problem with your software. It is because of the officially licensed VITURE x Cyberpunk 2077 Luma Cyber XR Glasses. Because they come with 3D-CONVERSION SOFTWARE. Do you hear that? CDPR licensed another developer to make a paid 3d mod, and that means that yours, which does it better, is now competition against the sales of this specific device collab. They sold you out so that they could inflict a janky, headache-inducing 3d experience on their player base, and then they paid VR influencers to promote it and pretend it was the first time Cyberpunk has ever had 3d.

Incredibly sad turn of events of course. I fully support your view on this and the sense of legally killing something that leads more money to you is beyond my non-lawyer mindset. The internet is vile. Any person becoming public beyond regular limited circle of enthusiasts is doomed to get all the hate people can generate. Doesn't help much when you're on receiving end of it, I know. What I am trying to say I guess is that it all doesn't matter, it's just noise. Harmful and hurtful, but having no real meaning behind it. Keep on mate. You're making great stuff and people who really use it do value it.

F
FlyingWaffle · February 22, 2026

the REAL VR platform should just be offered not as a game “mod” (it doesn’t change gameplay or game assets), but just as an alternative generic alternative display stack, without saying anything about any particular game/app support, just ‘display your favorite windows applications on your VR headset!” , with a disclaimer “not guaranteed to work for every executable! it’s totally a matter of luck, you’ll have to try” and then REAL vr customers would just write in “unofficial” forums posts their own personal experience: “hey, I tried game xyz, and it works, you just have to tweak things this way:…”

A
Award · February 22, 2026

Regarding the hate, I've noticed upon reading those hate comments attached to media articles, most follow a similar formula of generic paid mod hate, and posts that indicate they don't even know what this mod is, what it does, or how it works. many even referenced, generically, the wrongness of using the ip of others for profit and that you should create your own ip instead of profiting from others etc. I. E.. They don't know what the product is and are posting against it as though it's a completely different product. Much of that reads to me as corporate bot nets astroturfing, and then the internet bottom feeders repeat it to get likes. And yes most of the media, not just gaming, but also series media, politics, things that get people killed or economically ruined, appears to be just ai slop scraping the internet and slightly rewording the same piece. That's much bigger than gaming. That's our entire reality now. We don't need vr to live inside cyberpunk. We live inside it 24 hours a day now. But most of it is simply fake. You just have to figure out how to block out the ai that are programmed to hate you probably by 3rd party data companies hired by corps. Your business isn't with them, it's with us, your actual market. The challenge remains how to make an income from us without ruining afoul of publishers. As cdpr demonstrates, the idea of working WITH publishers can't exist. They just stonewall behind tos rules without conversation because they can and it's cheap. They have no reason to care. So figuring out how to work a round them remains the way. It'll need lawyers, yes. But if you're running a business, it needs lawyers sadly... I hope one way or another you can find a way to make it a viable commercial product, or just a charity driven hobby project. Or open the existing content for others to carry the torch as open source, but we still lose without your valuable talent pushing vr content forward.

I had JUST gotten my RTX 5080 and was about to sign up to get the CP2077 mod when this shit went down. I've been nothing but furious about the parasites on Reddit and Youtube whining how you won't work for them for free and CDPR for this fake DMCA takedown. I was glad to hear that GOG is no longer owned by them because I don't plan on ever buying another of their games.

It is sad you’ve had to put up with childish insults from people who likely have no idea what it takes to accomplish what you have and will likely never contribute something of real value to society. At any rate, I’m with you and will support your work whether it’s presented as a donation or a subscription. What you provide is of great value to me. When I go to decide what to play next, the first thing I do (or have done when it was available) is bring up your list of supported games, find something that sounds good and buy it, which is usually a game I would never ever consider apart from your mod. I hope you find a way forward, even if it’s just dropping the ones like CP77. Give just that one away or drop it altogether if it’s not worth the hassle. I know there is a danger of losing your Patreon account if other publishers follow suit and complain to them. Maybe you could discuss this with them, but I have no idea how flexible they are. If not, find another platform to continue on where there is not the risk of getting booted. I certainly hope you find a way to make this work going forward. I for one will be very disappointed. But if you do decide to shut down, I will lock down the last mod I have from you and backup the versions of the games so I don’t lose the ability to play them in the future. I will do whatever it takes to preserve your awesome legacy of mods so I can keep playing them. All the best and hope you can keep going.

I don't know what your finances look like, and I'm sure optional donations would result in a large income hit, but maybe worth it to try for a while and see if remains financially viable for you? I know a lot of people including myself would continue to support you. That said, you do probably also have some legal pathways that I am sure many would support as well to fight back against legal overreach and corporate stupidity. I continue to believe that if you mounted a legal fight, it would get the actual attention of the lawyers and management and could probably rapidly reach some kind of settlement/agreement like you attempted 4 years ago. It seems to me that it is murky legal waters as to whether the patreon donations represents an actual infringment. Also whether the VR port is an infrigement given the modification is largely external to the game. If I paid for your help to get cyberpunk to be played on a giant projector screen, would that constitute an infringement? Lastly, you have not caused the company any harm. Quite the opposite. This doesn't matter so much in terms of DMCA violations vs traditional lawsuits, but it does speak to the reality of very reasonable compromise pathways existing that all parties could consider once adequately motivated by mutual risk of harm (as opposed to just yours presently).

I'm sorry you are going through this, Luke. Unfortunately, I am not surprised. The online gaming community is beyond toxic, and when the sharks smell blood in the water, a feeding frenzy ensues. As to CDPR, they are a corporation, and I learned a long time ago that they don't subscribe to logic, and not even to the profit-first mentality. There is a particular egotistical mindset that comprises corporate behavior, emphasizing control and power first, with profit as a strong secondary. Ironically, this has been the demise of many powerful and influential companies, and NVIDIA and Nintendo are two companies that fit this model well. I guess I'm saying, don't look for the logic, because you have to be a narcissist to understand what drives these people, both corporate and the gamers/media attacking you. I never found your pay structure unfair, and the value provided is well in excess of what you charge. I stand behind you, and I'm sure most, if not the overwhelming majority, of your customers and user base do as well. You rock, and we'll be there on the other side once you clear this mess.

Luke please don't listen to all the hate!!! You are a legend in this community and anyone who understands is not saying nor thinking those things!!! I personally bought the game a second time as I owned it on ps5 already just to play VR so i am also one of those people that cdpr got an extra full price sale of their game. I payed full price for game and DLC twice. I love your mods so much they are almost always easier on my computer over uevr and you do games outside of UE4 and UE5. I really hope you can continue your work and devs start supporting it. I only play seated with gamepad and headtracking. So my VR gameing is through You, UEVR and racing sims ect. Ive not been here since day one but since the day ive gotten an PC ive be subbed and played many of your conversions. My favourite being CP2077 but also many more. I was upset when it was taken down and I never got a chance to get the latest file for baulders gate. I will continue to support you even if its not required if you continue pushing out high quality VR for AAA games im into. I know alot of people would also. I would hate to see these mods stop alltogether over this and hope you can find a solution that supports yourself financially and continues to let us enjoy games the way we want too. I belive in your fight as I paid for cp2077 on pc ONLY for VR and will not play it again flat. For that matter, I just dont play flat games anymore its too underwhelming. So im really hoping you can make this work because I love your mods, cp2077, Indiana jones, kcd2, both dooms, the last of us 1 & 2 all so much better in VR and I got ALL of them on steam only because of your mods.!!! Im so sorry all the hate you have gotten. You deserve praise not hate as these mods are truly amazing and make playing games a true escape from reality for a while LOL. Please push through and keep supporting the work you do on flat2Vr conversions. You have a community that supports you and understands. I even was frustrated and said you should relase for free and take donations like preydog for UEVR and I woulr still rather that and financially support you. If its take them down all together and get nothing vs taking a cut to what ur used to but still having your loyal users support you i think its a better option but I see your side of it also as I think with this level of quality in the work you do you deserve payment and thats why i will support either way whatever you choose. Please keep us in mind when making your final decision as alot of us will still support and would be devastated if ur framework stops working on current games and doesn't support any new ones. I got a new PC and Headset for your mods and UEVR but like I said your mods have more options to run better on lower end heck even higher end pcs that cant run UEVR well. The mono option I like to use for your mods as for me its doesnt take away too much immersion from loosing full stereoscopic 3d in trade for it running smooth as butter and still fell like full VR to me! We love you luke keep up the hard work please!!!!🙏 most people here do not think any of those negative things about you, even voicing frustration I still support you and would never insult you as a person for accepting payment for hard work that people love. That being said try not to focus on all the people yhat dont understand. This community does and will support you please dont give up on us. You are a stable in PCVR gaming, a legend imo. Idk if you will read all this as its a rant but I really care about the work you do and appreciate it so much. Thank you for everything and I hope we can keep this going. Like others have said 2026 got some good games coming that would look great in your framework! Devs will loose out on my sale if they dont let you mod them cus fuck flatscreen gaming at this point! Take care Luke, we appreciate the work you have done for us and I hope this isnt the end ❤️

I would have never played these games, simply cauze they are flat. ...and moreover your work encouraged me to play titles i would have never played, simply because those weren't "on my radar", BUT are worth every gameplay minute and do exceptionally well in VR (Uncharted 4 and TLL; RDR2 etc.) - Hate for your work is meaningless by definition in my understanding.

D-Rey · February 22, 2026

While I don't think you deserve all the hate you get, the part where your mod isn't behind a paywall is factually incorrect. Even if you have to pay once, that's considered behind a paywall. And since you have to pay for further updates, it is most definitely behind a paywall. So that's one thing you do need to stop denying. With that said, I'm sure it is a lot of work. And I'd much rather have to pay a small amount for your content then not have your content at all. Your mods have brought some of the most fun I've had in VR

So sorry for the unjustified abuse from people clueless about the complexities of interfaces like the REAL framework, especially when done well - like yours! Have you consulted an Intellectual Property (DRM) attorney or two about the notifications? How has vorpX escaped this scrutiny (their product/approach is not so dissimilar)? Is this selective enforcement? It is clear that your prior well-reasoned discussions were ignored by the developers (and most of the press). I believe that some variation of your basic business model IS viable - that a number of us are willing to pay to support you and your incredible work. Ironically, new VR hardware (like Dream Air and MeganeX) is approaching visual acuity limits, offering unrivaled VR experiences. Without suitable content, especially with the recent reductions at Meta VR studios, VR could languish like 3D did, however.

I hope you know that the extreme hate is just from trolls who don't like AER and/or the lack of motion controls in your mod, and are mad that they paid to find out. They've always been around and this whole fiasco has just given them an excuse to act self-righteous over it and pretend to care about the ethics of modding. Please do not let it get to you and know that plenty of us support the work you do.

J

The whole motion control debate blows my mind. Sure its fun sometimes, but I often find it distracting. It often limits VR uptake both from a creative game design standpoint as well as playability standpoint. Most of the time I don't want to be standing and punching the air awkwardly or whatever. Sometimes it decreases my level of immersion, and many gamers don't even have room for that at home.

F
FlyingWaffle · February 22, 2026

One can argue that your mod (even though it reaches into game runtimes) isn’t a “game mod” but a platform that just renders to an alternative type of display. You don’t touch gameplay, game art, you don’t even offer motion control, and game logic runs unaltered on top of it. And it’s all packaged as a single generic/game agnostic platform, supporting all VR headsets, with sometimes tweaks for certain games, just like the nvidia stack lets the user tweak stuff for specific games (one set of parameters per game), and nvidia also internally optimizes their driver for certain high profile games. Do game devs consider the entire 2D render stack (windows os, gpu driver api, monitor driver) a “mod” too? Do they expect every single microsoft/nvidia engineers involved in that stack to work for free?!? Then imagine if, in a few years, someone writes code to use an AI to take any game 2D output image and turn it real time into a stereo/VR version… would that be considered a “mod”? Obviously, no, since it would be game agnostic, just like your platform aspires to be.

I am one of those people who now 99% of the time makes a purchasing decision about games depending on the level of VR modding support they have, so that means UE titles + Luke Ross titles. Theme, gameplay, level of detail in the world... just about everything regarding 2077 is perfect for a VR game. I bought the game because there was a VR mod for it. But the reality is that this behavior isn't 1% and more like .001% or less. AAA dev studios (and their lawyers) do not and will not care about this scenario at this scale. The only response possible is one that moves to protect the brand and IP on their terms and no one else's. We're just all 5-10 years early here, guilty of dreaming about what could be. I think we just have to be prepared for a long road full of open hostility after Sony failing to make good on supporting the promise of their platform and Meta poisoning the well for AAA at large with their very public financial flops. Modders are basically the light we have in this tunnel and I wish people would be kinder to each other on all sides.

However, I managed to experience the product through other means, and I must say—it’s a unique experience. Cyberpunk 2077 feels like it was built for VR; no other game fits the medium so perfectly. It’s a real shame the licensing issues couldn’t be resolved. Personally, I think $10 is a fair price for this mod—it's worth every penny, especially considering the constant updates. At this point, all that’s left is to wish you patience and strength. Those who truly want to find a way, will. As for the haters—well, I wish I had your PR! Haters are the best engine for a product and personal brand, so it’s best to turn that heat into a promotional tool. To the author: don't lose heart. Keep creating unique content. Ahoy Luke o7 It's so weird knowing that despite being able to play 2077 in VR still, that it's days are more or less numbered. I've played through in VR so many times...probably closer to 30 these days, but I've honestly lost track. While there wasn't all that much left in terms of discovery for me in the game, it certainly did start feeling like a home...an escape even. Needless to say, my world was a bit rocked at the news of all this. Fast forward a bit. I've completed 1 last playthrough of Phantom Liberty and have essentially decided to ice the playthrough until further news. Luckily, Star Citizen has started official VR development with their new experimental mode. This has given me something of a new Frontier to explore while I reflect on my entirety of experience with your Mod. Maybe the reason I was first drawn to the project is because it essentially had to be pushed out by a single dev working in his spare time. A lot like another VR developer I know. I don't know where your REAL VR Project will go now. I do hope it's not all for naught. I do hope there's a viable route forward for you, but I'll accept it if that's that. Regardless, thank you again for the Mod, the Years of and enjoyment, and the memories I made in Night City.

Eugene · February 22, 2026

Luke, I think your work is great. I will tell anyone that I bought 2077 because of your mod. I bought Frontiers of Pandora a second time on PC because of your mod. Your work does sell games. Full stop. That said, within the legal framework, you’re off-base. Now, are the laws that allow this and that require people to protect their IP shit? You tell me. If someone downloads your mod and then distributes it for free, you yourself call it piracy. Your idea that it isn’t paywalled is the same idea as saying Game Pass games aren’t paywalled. If the things you want to assert about what you provide are true, y ou need to make all downloads and updates freely available and operate solely on a donation basis. The fact that you did not immediately do this at the first sign of trouble, and that you established that getting the mod without paying is tantamount to piracy, shows that you value the direct line between what you create and your income. Well, so do the people making these games. Whatever you do (I won’t pretend to understand) uses game-specific coding to change the experience of the game, as evidenced by games needing to be added to support and that they be removed from support. If you were operating a level above the proprietary game code, like say UEVR, the mod would work agnostic of game. But you aren’t. Because of this, you are setting a legal precedent. If you are directly accessing anything about the game’s coding and charging for it, if they don’t defend their game from you, they lose legal ground to prosecute anyone - cheats and trainers, someone acting as a game “distributor” and selling middle-man access to games, etc. Feeling entitled to ANY other behavior from ANY dev’s legal team besides a takedown is believing that they should be subsidizing your pay-to-play mod with their own legal risk because you bring them some extra sales. Your messaging on what you’re making seems to change depending on which direction benefits you. And that is what is tanking your perception in the public eye. Be honest about what you do and navigate the existing legal framework to try to keep getting your bag, or make it completely free for all time and get your probably-reduced-but-far-from-nonexistent bag without the legal troubles. Just stop being disingenuous about what you sell. YEAH I know GTAV and RDR2 were free and that was still a problem. I know. That’s a different arena. That should have been a great moment of support for what you do, and weaponizing the public opinion on them. But you have come out several times in defense of your income, which meant you’re on the same frequency as them, fighting the same battle. Big greed vs small greed. It left and continues to leave a bad taste for a lot of people. You have a path forward, and, unfortunately for you, it involves a lot of humility and eating shit for the opinions you’ve dropped in your history doing this. Listen to the voices of the critics and work with that. Not the haters, not the glazers. Neither of those voices are going to change your circumstances. I’m sorry that some of the critics’ voices will align with the haters. You gotta compartmentalize that. Critics want to see you succeed, haters want to see you fail. Learn to tell the difference. I love the mod and I hope good things for its future.

I’m sorry the Internet has been shitting on you. There’s a part of it that just seems to be looking for people to shit on. I’m happy to keep subscribing to the Patreon and support development even if the mod becomes free, or whatever other combination that works for you. There are enough other games supported that it retains value even if multiple publishers force you to pull their game — I’d rather give my money to your project than their next game.

Hello The whole thing is ridiculous. It was great when you increased sales with the VR mod, because they were too stupid to develop VR or buy your mod and sell it as DLC, from which you would also profit. It wasn't profitable for them because people bought the game without VR. Although it would have been a better business move, they waited four years and sold a lot more copies, so now they don't like it. I don't think they should be harping on about this after four years, it's a done deal now. Anyway, it's usually non-VR fans who talk like this and get upset. I would definitely have paid for a VR DLC, a small amount, and they're wrong if they think so many people would have bought their game if it hadn't been for the VR mod. Speaking for myself, I was really looking forward to StarFildet, but I haven't bought it yet because I'm waiting for the VR mod. If it doesn't happen, I won't spend more than $10 on it. I hope the developers realize sooner or later that the future is VR and that it's worth developing, as it generates more money and can make a game more successful. In my opinion, it should slowly become a basic feature, as we are not living in the Stone Age. Of course, only a VR enthusiast will appreciate these arguments, not someone who bases their opinion solely on financial statistics or who only cares about having a two-meter monitor with 8k resolution because it looks so nice. It's the 3D experience and the tangible things that matter in VR, as if you were inside the game. The graphics will obviously improve over time. I wanted to download the KDC II mod, but unfortunately I couldn't. I hope you come back soon and find a solution to the current situation. Best Regards, Vertigo

Hey Luke, Gameranx also gave you love when covering this, fyi. A lot of us have been fighting this in the comment section. You know the uphill battle though. I’m of the mind people like piling on without any research or nuance. They also want your hard work for free. I invested 7k in building a VR rig last year JUST for your Cyberpunk mod. Little did I know you were also the supported Hogwarts, many Far Cry’s, a majority of the Souls series. You have made my investment incredible than I could ever dream of. I will like many continue to support you. Where all of these casual internet trolls will throw hate freely around, your supporters put money into you because we believe in your work. Thank you for everything no matter what comes. I hope to have the opportunity to support you in the future no matter what that looks like.

man i love the work you have done , you cant change peoples mind you are just wasting your time engaging with them , all the while bringing more attention form less forgiving companies on you and other modders like you in this scene, at this point you should straight up rebrand or start with another name and site , many have already suggested going the vorpx injector approach with your own site and store , off site game profiles , it would protect you from legal troubles , also no need to be vulgar

I think Cdprojekt is trying to squeeze every penny out of you. You are the best VR modder in the world and they know that. Looks for Dying Light VR ofiicial support or Terminator Resistance - it's like a joke and they never finished it.

ButtUglyJoe · February 22, 2026

I upgraded my Gaming PC set up just for your MOD just a month or two before it's banning, experiencing CP77 in its ultimate form was amazing. Thank you for that Luke Ross. I never was upset w the subscription, matter of fact I'd still pay it if it was completely free. I wish you the best brother 🙏 ❤️

Hey Luke, You built something technically impressive and supported it for years — that fact doesn’t change because angry people shout. Abuse is not evidence. Noise is not truth. The best response is exactly what you’re doing: document the timeline, state the facts, and let serious people judge from reality. People who create will always be criticized by people who only react. Keep building.

Bart Grudzien · February 22, 2026

The best response is not acknowledging the hate. Focus on the positive comments. And rework your business. Miv

Hello Luke, your VR mods are truly exceptional. I have been happy to support you financially on a monthly basis, and I will continue to do so in the future. The game developers themselves could do this, but they choose not to. Everyone who tries to discredit you should first try developing something themselves and then speak up once they realize how difficult and time-consuming this kind of work really is. I wish you all the best and hope that you will be able to continue developing for the community in the future.

Dear Luke, I think you are the best "VR" modder in the world. I gladly subscribe and pay for your awesome mods. It's a shame CDPR don't realise how good your mods are and what it brings to their sales. Keep up the awesome work and stand tall legend ! Warm regards from the Netherlands Oliver

The abuse is ridiculous. Sorry you had so much of it. You'd think that the subset of computer geeks (of which I am a proud member) who want a VR mod for a game like this would just be pleased to have somebody working on it. Entitlement and anger management issues everywhere, it seems.

From the companies you get only Bureaucracy. And from the envious people you get hate. There is nothing we can do about it, you have to learn to live with it, or stop and let them win.

Getting to play games like RDR2, Cyberpunk 2077 and Marvel’s Spiderman in VR thanks to your brilliant work has been the best gaming experience possible. Please find a way to package your software like VorpX do it and perhaps separate your mods and release those for free and the sell the software like a VR graphics driver or something similar that will protetc you legally.

N
Nir A · February 22, 2026

Hi Luke, did you ever get to anyone significant other than that idiot Jan Rosner and the braindead legal team? Did you try contacting someone like Michał Nowakowski? What do you have to lose? I found his email in some online legal document. It is michal.nowakowski@cdprojekt.com

J
John Zigmont · February 22, 2026

Luke is possible to make a front end like VorpX has? This way it's no longer a mod it's a problem.

B
Bart Grudzien · February 22, 2026

Luke. U are just feeding the trolls at this point. Please for your own sanity. GET off Reddit and X. Stop focusing on the negative. U have tons of support if u look around. I really hope your follow up post has some good news at this point or you’ll lose most of your support.

I’m totally with you on this, Luke. You are a diamond for the VR community, regardless of whether community accepts that. Not a good sign when a company puts Legal staff of BD. I've bought Cyberpunk twice - once on GOG and once on Steam when they released it there, and I have paid to be your Patron for years, just to support your industry leading efforts. Thanks for staying rational and fighting the good fight. The silent majority support you. Keep in mind the haters gonna hate. Be like water.

Mark Holley · February 22, 2026

Hi Luke. I'm 50 and have been gaming for 45 years. Within the past year, I've gotten a VR headset, and now that makes up about 70% of my gaming time. I just wanted to say that I've been proud to subscribe to your Patreon. Your mod makes not only Cyberpunk, but a whole host of other games that I own even better, and I've been happy to pay you that little bit each month for your hard work in maintaining the mod. Don't get me wrong, I like free mods or mods that ask for a donation, but your mod covers games that mods like UEVR don't, and it's well worth the price. I even bought a 5090 so that I could get better performance out of games using RealVR. While they're well within their rights, I don't think you're hurting CDPR, and I think that this is one of those cases where it might be okay for them to either give their blessing or remain silent and let you cook. Well, other than that I don't have much to say about the whole thing. I'm no lawyer, and I also don't really socialize with people who feel strongly one way or another about the issue at hand. Just wanted to offer thanks from an old gamer.

Stephen Gallagher · February 22, 2026

I bought all 40+ titles on your mod list to safe guard them from future updates. These companies are being tone deaf to a zero sum game. Luke, just remember in all this negativity you have a fan base that supports your goodwill. Keep up the good work, and don’t lose sight in this clown show. Best regards.

TJ · February 22, 2026

From my very limited understanding, the reason your porting framework is subject to their TOS in a way that Vorpx, Crossover, emulators, etc. are not is that in addition to adding comparability with new hardware, you also package in minor adjustments to the game to improve the experience in VR, making it "technically" a mod subject to their TOS. I wonder, could you simply separate out the "mods" and release them on github or wherever with separate instructions? If you did, there would be no legal basis for why your porting framework should have to obey anyone's TOS. There's probably a reason this doesn't work, but just a thought I had.

G
Gramsci · February 22, 2026

I have defended you to no end on social media and burned a few bridges in the process but I honestly think trying to explain anything isn't the right approach, you wont change anyone's mind who already hates paid mods and I fear you will just incur further hate and you are creating a kind of Streisand effect with this approach, I am also not sure putting all the slurs you have been called in your post is such a good idea and will likely result in further criticism, I am sure you are very angry about the situation but I think just moving forward and considering changing the structure of your payments is the best solution? could you do something similar to team beef where you pay for early access to the mod but once its finished you then make it free?

G
Gibbzee · February 22, 2026

Can I ask why you keep insisting that the framework isn’t paywalled in these emails? You still have to pay for the software to use it, even if it’s a one time payment.

G
Goooost · February 22, 2026

I have to pay a bridge toll or the ferry to get to San Francisco, but that doesn't mean the sea lions at Pier 39 are paid DLC.

Darren Garkut · February 22, 2026

I said it before and I'll say it again; I would not have bought these games if not for your mod! You've made VR gaming worth it for me. I can only thank you for the countless hours of fun I've had in my favourite games for the past few months. It just makes no sense to me when companies shoot themselves in the feet like this. I know I personally won't be buying another CDPR title again. I can literally only see a loss for them with this. Not that we should be surprised that they're turning into a messy AAA studio after the awful state Cyberpunk 2077 was released in.

P
PQHack · February 22, 2026

M
Maximilian Pütz · February 22, 2026

Dear Luke, I've been a patron of you for, I think, over two years, supporting your work because I love VR. But still, I think this thing doesn't put the best light on you. I don't like people calling you names and being overly harsh, but I can also see their point, and I'm a little disappointed that you didn't just go with giving the mod away for free and then keep working on it as a work of art, or even not. I don't think anybody would have to be pissed if the mod had been broken and you said, "Sorry, I have no time now working on it. I need to support the other mods my patrons pay for." But instead, the mod is just gone and we have to rely on some piracy sites to get it. There's a lot of modders who solely rely on voluntary support. I think this is the way to go forward for you. And the best for VR. Look what became to flat2vr.. they get respected, loved, hired for conversions and still get donations. Will you lose some patrons? For sure. Will the others even be more loyal? I think that will be the case too. All that CD PROJEKT is asking for is, don't sell it. And you can argue against it, but it is behind a paywall, and your fourth point is not correct. Yes, you can use the mod after you have unsubscribed from your Patreon, but as soon as it's broken, you need to resubscribe to get the latest version. You wouldn't support this mod any further for this person. I hope you can see my point, and I hope you find a reasonable compromise for all of us. I lean on canceling my support. If you stand your ground and just continue like before. You had a good run. Now it's time to adapt. All the best, Maximilian

D
Darren Stoller · February 22, 2026

To be fair to Luke he didn't even have time to make the cyberpunk mod free. Within minutes of the withdrawal announcement of cyberpunk, Luke's mod was being given away by loads of people on the internet, discord, Reddit etc. So he probably thought why bother as his hard work was being given away freely anyway, unfairly in my view.

Yeah, the hate was ridiculous. Immediately jumping to side with a mega-corp is wild. I still fully support your right to make a living while working on something for the community. Personally I see Luke like a golden goose that people keep overlooking. He has a niche that people want, and even big companies are too stupid to realize that if they hire him in or at least collaborate, he could change VR in a big way. We don’t got good vr games, at least not many.

B
BigRed · February 22, 2026

Your work has been one of the bright points for VR players over the last few years, and you are appreciated. There are a number of games that I bought primarily because of high quality vr mods like yours and UEVR, it's a shame that some developers can't appreciate the fact that your success does not detract from their own.

D
