Nah i wouldn’t have minded either way but I’ve been ready for them to go back to the present. I feel like it makes the stakes more understandable and doesnt leave them arguing about timelines like at the end of this ep. Did like this arc overall tho
Eh, the more interesting choice imo was not pressing the button. Ashara knows what happens in the "push the button" timeline which leaves them in a losing position. As well pressing the button just made them observers, the whole time travel arc couldve just been exposition in this case since they had no effect on the future, learned nothing of use for the battle, then returned to a losing fight with no new info or tools. Also Valethar sent them back as a last chance move so they could do something and they inevitably did nothing and then came back. You could literally remove the time travel plot since they've just returned in the exact same spot they were when they left.
Oh god the debate at the end is so lame 😆 we got ludwig basically saying "starting over from the beginning of the quest is smarter because we gained something" when they did not gain anything during the time travel lol they keep saying "more prepared" but they did nothing
Gives me flashbacks of slime making fun of kids that wanted the roan toy “no I fucked up the battle!!”
Thank God Stonebeard pressed the button. Anything other than the other 3 not existing if the button isn’t pressed doesn’t make sense so just makes a poor narrative, nevermind the plan of oh we can just go to this place and do something to destroy something we don’t understand all while trying to fight multiple people who we have no way of beating
Button truthers are foolish. Either you don't push it and have to fight a fuck ton of demons or you do push it, and get sent back to a time where you are about to be in the exact same situation, just with a handful more days. Yes, you can be a bit more prepared now, but the main thing is that even if you win now, Ashara is going to know everything you are going to do from now on. You only have a chance of stopping Ashara if you don't press the button.
I don't know what I would've chosen, but I wish Rone had told them "Ashera doesn't lie, but doesn't know anything about stuff that hasn't happened yet." That screams to me don't push the button, that everything Ashera implies about the other timeline is intentionally misleading or just simply untrue. Maybe it's just Stonebeard, but we can infer Rone is still around, and maybe they can pull Leonas and Georg from another timeline. But I can see why Stonebeard pushed the button, high risk high reward vs low risk, mid reward
You know, I always found it so weird how 3 out of the 4 brand new players decided to multiclass. How did that even come about? I’m so curious what the character creation process was like. Edit: I will say that end debate is like every DMs dream. After a session everyone is arguing about the decisions made in the fake story you came up with lol
Feels like Stonebeard as a character takes control with logic while Slime and Aiden think about how it would make the story more interesting. It’s weird to see the two different thought processes play into the story. Also it pisses me off a little bit that stonebeards decision had NOTHING to do with the fact that Dave told them there was an endless supply of demons coming out of the ocean that they couldn’t see, even when he hinted that the ethereal plane was under the water…
Leonas deals no dick and he expected himself to kill like a million demons?? That’s so crazy shit
From an interesting narrative perspective, they shouldn't have pushed the button, but logically, Lud is right
OK, so I think my reasoning for pressing the button is that the time loop is only up to the moment they went back, so everything that happens after that is fixable since they blew the demons up 100 years ago, when they were at their weakest
Instead of starting over (which also would have been interesting) they get to return to the present with all the knowledge and items that they acquired
Slime and Aiden are correct the more interesting call is to not push the button regardless of if it changes the future/present. This time travel storyline has been the most fun so far and seeing what happens if they don’t push it (assuming they stay alive) would have been premium content for sure. Stonebeard pushing the button was in character but extremely vexing from my point of view because this would have been a really interesting narrative arc for these guys. Regardless it will be fun to watch how the “present” plays out though.
Literally everything Leonas said was naive but it adds charm to his character that he would give up everything to fight this impossible battle. Pushing the button was the right call though for sure. Like nick said, they came back more equipped. Really fun episode, Dave is a master story maker.
I like how the entire yard cast joined forces to deeply pleasure Dave at the end of the episode
That’s how stone beard dies ?
wahoo!
Uh oh
