Ep. 263 - ranked food ordering [AUDIO]

This is among the best Patreon episodes OAT, such a funny premise
One of my favorite premium episodes
Nick seems like one of those players that acts like hes high elo but then you hear hes just slightly above average Elo. Kinda like a champ in rocket league talking like hes high GC
A high elo server preys on the low elo question of what would you order cause they are immediately selling you the most expensive item so you have to tip me more, free money for them
as someone who works in hospitality, asking what my favourite thing is is so low elo. it's one of my most hated questions, like bro just get what you like. what if I like the stewed cow testicles, now what?
Order everything at once and tell the waiter to bring everything out as we finish. Fried calamari (if we’re at a real italian restaurant this should feed 4), bottle of red, and bruschetta with burrata to start. Then, share size of rigatoni Ala vodka and one veal parm and two chicken parms. Big guy will probably take the veal since the other two will likely be skeeved out but too proud to admit it, or it gives big guy a classic “oh yea I’m big man eat meat” moment. All around good time. Chicken parms and the rigatoni get split. To finish, once we’ve cleaned up a bit and the waiter wants to know if we’ll get the check- I ask for espresso shots for me and big guy then ask the table if they want as well. I ask for a dessert menu, just to share- I know I want tiramisu. We get the tiramisu, obviously, then as the waiter drops it off I give a subtle “pen on palm signature” to let him know to bring the check. Tip 50%, then suggest a nightcap at the bar.
This is high ELO for sure
Oh god another episode where Nick refuses to stop doubling down and asking increasingly irrelevant clarifying questions
Im sorry, what is Italian-American fusion? Hahah
Marathon is awful good thing its dying to bad its going down with bungie
banger ep
I appreciate that Aiden became Sebulba through the ordering process
Finally a ten million dollar idea. Who is the best orderer.
Maybe the best episode of all time.
I think the boys are forgetting that people with food allergies typically do a lot of cooking on their own and have a better understanding of food and what's in each dish because they need to avoid the things they can't eat. We're not good orderers *in spite* of our handicap, we're good orderers *because* of our handicap
Not sure if I’d want the guy whose favorite nachos are from the movie theater to order for me tbh
Was expecting talk about cs, and got Nick ordering food for wario and 2 ladies for 40 minutes
I take 2-4 menu items that seem high reward and ask my server their preference. 95% I take the suggestion.
I’d just order like 50 arancini
My partner is allergic to garlic, onion, and all nuts. This episode is so triggering im supposed to be safe here.
doesn’t nick get a plain burger from in and out?
As someone who worked in a nicer restaurant for a time but more importantly my dad eats more then anyone I know ever… asking “what is fresh” is either you know ball and I respect that or I hate you and your line (depending on vibes and person) But more importantly… nick bro, peace and love lock in you a silver elo MAYBE
Aiden improving several different characters was so good
The odyssey also had to stay under 3 hours to fit on imax 70mm film reel, so many scenes feel heavily cut. They had to cut more than 30 minutes out. Same thing for Oppenheimer but wasn’t as egregious imo.
the real orderer convo got me wishing i was under the ground
Nick is 100% right on .5 and 5 star movies. At that point its personal emotion pushing it over the edge. Personal .5 is the dragon ball movie, 5 star has to be SummeeWars
Going to a new restaurant is playing ranked, and going to your go-to spot is unranked. I'm like Nick's girlfriend, I'm basically pressing the random hero select button every time. However, and I know from experience, randoming every game is how you lose MMR.
Marathon is not dead they added pve ts tuff
I would only ever swap plates if whatever she has is something i'd like, if she absolutely hated it i'd probably split my plate and eat some of hers
“The devil is a bad guy” -Aiden
I was about ready to get up out of my chair and start applauding Aiden‘s take on the recent Captain America. I also watched it on a plane and it was the worst shit I’ve ever seen. I would rather be sandwiched between two dudes ripping nasty farts on a 12 hour flight than watch that movie again.
As someone who watched the new Spider-man in a lounge type theater, I did consider taking my shoes off. However, I thought to myself how incredibly insane that would be, and I decided against it.
I've never heard of ordering for the table, is this some LA shit or am I the weird one fellas
it took me until Ludwig’s example to realize that they meant like family style I thought they were basically doing the “she’ll have the salad” for entire groups of people and was like “are they psychopaths?”
Asking the waiter for their best item is low ELO unless you have an established rapport. The server is going to interpret that as you not knowing what you want and will just give you the most popular/lowest common denominator item or the item they've been asked to push on that night. Now if you are deciding between two items and ask them what they would get between the two, and you don't hesitate to go with their suggestion -- that's high ELO. Now you've established trust.
Low key if someone doesn’t make 1 Big Eater a real game then I will
i’ve been a server in a popular italian restaurant for 4 years and this almost made me blow it smooth off. Nick is bronze 3 at best
Shout out to treythetrashman I once gave him $20 to do a 1gram dab on stream and by golly he did it
The ugly truth of the meta is that real top players value consistency and order the same things at every type of restaurant.
Waiter! Regal nachos for the table
Jesus you gotta distract Nick with crayons and the kids menu while the real orderers order
If there’s no crudo my crew gonna go.
I accepted that Ludwig was a great orderer when he said it. He spent the rest of the time convincing me he is not.
Here's the fucked thing: there is crazy lore for that rally car clip. The actual video is close to an hour long and the clip was condensed to the most unflattering/funniest clips possible. It kind of cost the driver and co-driver their career. They both were disgraced publicly because of it because it's embarrassing in their profession. Turns out, a competitor compiled the clip and was arrested under some Indian defamation law, but was not indicted. The driver was a veteran of 20 years, and the co-driver was no slouch either. Btw the car was a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X. No I didn't know that off top, I looked this up to get the facts straight. I did know the story of the clip was damaging.
As a real orderer, Nick is not.
I’d absolutely watch the restaurant thing with 4 tables
19 min in and aiden hit the nastiest qte
I heard what you heard. It was close though, he hovered the other dialogue option…
Appetizers: 2 Calamaris Bruschetta Spinach Artichoke Dip Mains: 2 Petit Filets 1 Tbone 1 New York Strip Sides: Lobster Mac Balsamic Brussel Sprouts Dessert: Bananas Foster
Ordering 4 steak mains is like bragging about your k/d but youre in silver
has kelby killed compiler on all shells
I may not be a real orderer but after listening to this conversation I know for sure that Nick isn't either.
Nick saying he’d be the best orderer and then asking the 40 y/o mom question is crazy. Every waiter and waitress alive is NOT flowing with you like water bro if that’s how you start also “is that a corolla?” Is fucking sending me🤣
wahoo!
