General Update #37
Hey there, here's the latest general update.
Last month was mostly about fixing bugs and cleaning up the tutorial, missing animations, and enemy behavior. In terms of game-breaking bugs the game's in a much better spot now, so I can start focusing more on creating new content. As always there's a lot of choice on what to do next, but I believe I'd like to focus more on adding dialogue and NPC interactions, along with some polish and disclaimers for the main menu and the like, it's about time I added those.
The main reason for this is that I often get comments from people being lost or unsure on what to do or where to go next, so I think adding more NPC interactions will help guide the player through what is currently available. This will also give me a chance to refine the dialogue system a little more, for example; one thing I'd like to figure out how to do is have some sections of dialogue be more cinematic - that meaning to play some animations during the dialogue rather than just having the player run up to an NPC and stand still while dialogue progresses.
After working on the dialogue system some more I imagine I'll go back to creating the new area, which will of course include more enemies and H-Scenes. I still want to do H-Scenes that involve more than one enemy but I'm always getting sidetracked with things that seem more important to do now rather than later, but it's definitely still near the top of the priority list.
As an aside from the project I thought it'd be fair to raise some concerns before they potentially come about. My computer is getting fairly old now, it runs on a 1080 and has a CPU from 2016, I've noticed lately that it's been having more hiccups in general, fans running quicker, loading things slower, and sometimes straight up freezing without notice or seemingly reason. I take good care of my computers but I think age is finally getting to this one.
That being said; the game files are usually backed up quite frequently both on an external hard drive and also on github, so if the worst comes and my computer finally dies, the project isn't lost, it just might take me a while to be able to continue working on it.
So if I do disappear suddenly don't worry, the project is safe and can continue as soon as I have the means to do so. I'm not sure how much longer this rig will last but I thought it only fair to raise the warning now so people don't think I've randomly disappeared.
As always a big thank you to the supporters keeping this project alive!
