I started calling it "Gucki" ironically years ago and now it's just how I say it
The “House of Gukki” part at the end reminded me of the best counterfeit/knockoff luxury product I have ever encountered which was a phone case with the word “GUGGI” written on it encasing a phone that a random woman in China was using to photograph me.
I don't know why November thinks lawyer hate is not universal because it is.
Chumbawamba predicted this episode in 2000: "All dressed up in drag / inside a gucci bodybag"
woAOw
bogh…
Ok so like The degree to which the mispronounced Line "Father, Son, House of Gucci" at the end has become such a Vocal Stim for me the last few weeks, it's embarrasing
I was excited when I heard of this movie and then immediately disappointed when I learned it wasn’t about a New York Ballroom House.
I wish I'd guested on this just to cry about Lady Gaga's accent being a hate crime against me, an actual Italian
Hang on... Wouldn't Jared Leto be saying "basta" or "passa"?
I LOVE that Alice had her "egg cracked" by Adele Bloch-Bauer and Lady Agnew! I definitely had a bit of a bi awakening from Girl with a Pearl Earring (the actual painting, not the movie), so I wish I could visit a museum with her and shoot the shit on art history crushes.
Signed up to be a patron based on the incredible promo. I have no interest in watching this movie, but every interest in listening to the KJB gang talk about it for the better part of 2hrs
watched like half this movie on a plane over someones shoulder with no subtitles. fascinating experience
What is Gucci...compared to SPECRE?
So with the whole crew on the thirties look. IMO There are two decades whose fashion is timeless, the thirties, cos generally so elegant and clean line'd, and the eighties, because so freaking awful.
Depending on the country "cREEEminAhl tax EHvashIOn" can get you decades. I'm German and the second thing about Steffi Graf I learned after her profession was that her dad was a long time in jail for tax fraud.
My headphones failed while listening to this and the audio switched to my laptop speakers just in time for everyone in the office to hear "the pussy that kills you instantly", and I thought you'd like to know
Can you pls post the "criiiiminAHL tax eevajun" drop? I want to play it to clients and immediately be fired
i happened to see this movie after listening to the audiobook of deborah ball's "house of versace", which was FASCINATING, but specifically there were MULTIPLE places that the same themes as house of gucci showed up, including but not limited to: the competition between these multiple italian fashion houses, the mafia influence or lack there of, international finance shenanigans, and tom ford being a genius. strong rec to that book, particularly next to house of gucci. i loved the movie house of gucci, but i think that's mostly because i am deeply horny for lady gaga.
I hope you expand on this theme of luxury fashion into a trilogy by reviewing the 2 movies about the Versaces. 1st, 2013s "House of Versace," made for tv & 2nd, 2016s "American Crime Story: The Killing of Gianni Versace!"
As an American listener, it took me a moment to realize, when you were talking about Lady Gaga's character wearing "bridal suspenders", that you meant a garter belt, rather than lumberjack-style braces.
the game they are watching is Calcio Storico where a bunch of tattooed men put on 16th century pants and beat the fuck out of each other https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_bMrTysuJs
Getting that pussy that lets others navigate the Warp
Why?
Alice and Abigail going into detail about the characterization of Adam drivers character and the complexities of portraying abuse 🤌🤌🤌🤌
Man, John Singer Sargent. He could paint beautiful women like a sonofabitch.
Alice would be right about that first ski scene where Maurizio stands up to Patrizia in front of his friends IF Patrizia wasn't continuing on from prior abusive behaviour, but she is so Abi is probably closer to the truth of the moment, thought that kind of behaviour is very well observed from Alice
As Italian, this movie made me laugh so much. I also feel attacked by your attempts at Italian eng accent - and lady Gaga's - let's not comment on whatever what Jared Leto doing
cooka da pasta
Don’t wanna be that girl but could you maybe add a trigger warning about domestic abuse/controlling relationships? Didn’t expect it and I’m now stuck in an anxiety attack remembering my ex wife. It’s all pretty raw
that sucks, they should definitely include a trigger warning for that to let people know what they're in for
Since Alice already made everyone read Notes On Camp, time to watch some John Waters!
Italian speaker here, they aren't saying Pasta (sadly) they're saying "Basta Basta" which means 'c'mon' or ' That's Enough'
Dude is named like a jojo character
Puccio Pucci
Nothing but bangers as always
Mentally I spell that as "Gucky O'Gucky," and that's a hell of a type of guy
As part of a white elephant gift exchange a friend of mine did actually contribute a signed 8x10 glossy headshot of himself and it was the funniest shit.
I hope it was autographed. One of the managers at my old job did an autographed picture of himself
I'm sensing anti-Italian discrimination
oh shit yes here we go
