S2E14.5: Robocop 2
It's girls night! That's right, Alice and Abi are flying solo and are excited to do their makeup, talk about boys (female) and watch a girly film... wait a minute, Devon swapped the DVD out for Robocop 2 before they left! That bastard.
In a futuristic 90s Detroit, the experimental "half man, half robot, all cop" Robocop has been incredibly effective. Desperate to recapture the success of Robocop, the OCP decide to create Robocop 2. But they fuck it up and it sucks. This is genuinely the plot of the movie.

The story of Robert “Rob” O’Cop
It's amazing how RoboCop 2 took the premise of RoboCop, which was a satire mocking criticizing our cultures obsession with violence and the weaponization of people to uphold this system, and instead did it completely straight and said that those things were good, actually. I hate Frank Miller so much.
You see using a baby as a human shield is usually for swordplay, as baby's make effective bucklers where a larger person would restrain movement too much. Deploying one against a gun is ineffective but if robocop had a falcon or arming sword this would have been the perfect choice
If this podcast is radicalizing toward lesbian separatism, do let us know.
Would loooove to see a bonus episode on Starship Troopers

Okay, so one thing stuck in my head is that I don't think the film says "violence against kids is bad" I believe there's a strong case that its "parental violence against kids is good." Cain is basically a father figure to Hobbs, and when Cain inflicts "parental" violence against Hobbs for going against his wishes, Hobbs is suddenly deemed worthy by the film, and Robocop [not gay] as worthy of empathy. Which is, supremely fucked up. But that's par for the course with ideology for most Frank Miller works.
Is "dome leave" a British thing?
Punning on ‘home leave’
Robocop [gay] is fucking hilarious
The stop motion was done by Phil Tippett, which apparently went better than his infamous stint supervising the dinosaurs at Jurassic Park
Cannot take 'nuke' seriously as a drug name partly because my dad told me that that's what they used to call Newcastle Brown Ale when he was a student in the 1960s (back when it was significantly stronger than other UK beers).
Fascinating to see a Reverse Watchmen in the wild, where a shot-for-shot, line-for-line remake could give the opposite message but be a positive thing
I don’t know if they noticed but assigned cop at birth = ACAB
