Alexander just sounds like “What if Rip Torn was a supervillain?” I mean beyond his regular villainy.
So, in addition to Bond, was Austin Powers also mocking UNCLE? Between “Judo CHOP!” And “You know what’s remarkable? That England looks in no way like Southern California.”
1960s
Yvonne Craig=batgirl!!
The 6th commandment is "Honor thy mother and father" how the fuck was killing a president going to break that
I just want to quickly say how much I’m enjoying your Man From UNCLE eps. I’ve already listened to the previous ones several times.I might even need to watch the films now
A few episodes ago, I think it was Devon, said how enthusiastic that they were to be watching more 60's spy nonsense. How about a watch of the supposedly dark and grittier Harry Palmer series, based on the Len Deighton novels, The IPCRESS File, Funeral in Berlin and Billion Dollar Brain. Setting the scene also for a Michael Cain V's Sean Connery SCUM off.
Once again asking for the Hindi language movie Haider, Hamlet set in modern day Kashmir
Got my movie poster shirt today! I love you all, carry on.
Room B is for the boys
Rip Torn, the man who once got so drunk he broke into a bank because he thought it was his house.
When you announced the Man From Uncle series I was like, “hmm, sounds unpromising, hope they’re not running out of material”, but it’s turning into an absolutely epic run of episodes, utterly hilarious
Always trust the process
I went looking for cast photos, because I couldn't picture a young Rip Torn, and found out that Maude the mystery woman was played by Yvonne Craig, better known as Batgirl!
Me, breath still smelling of Greek sausage and potatoes, sitting down to listen to a podcast: damn, they're going to show me the heritage of the ancient cultures of the mediterranean
Re: Abigails comment that movie/tv lines are shorter than they used to be. This is almost definitely due to the common use of subtitles by a big swathe of the population. I write for narrative video games and we have the same sort of word limits placed on our spoken lines. If it’s too long the subtitles just become a huge chunk of ungainly text at the bottom of the screen.
'violence is the force that takes away agency' Didn't realise S in scum was going to be changed to structural violence
"He's been cancelled by time" is a Gen-Z Bond Villain-ass quote.
Hes experienced the final cancellation
(SPOILERS I GUESS) My guess on the titular One Spy would be Prof. Kavon, on account of how the villain would have won if not for his sudden, pointless, and self-defeating (self-exploding?) act of treachery.
