S2E2: Breach (2007)

Further to the theme of last episode's taught depiction of actual spy work, today we're taking a look at the dramatisation of the true story of Robert Hanssen, an FBI agent who spent decades spying for the USSR, and later Russia.

This is a well-acted, high stakes retelling that somewhat unfortunately was unwatchable for Abi, due to the protagonist being the spitting image of her childhood friend 'Paedo John'.

I love the bit about how "mice" is going to be edited in.

I read the blurb and was really concerned about Paedo John but I was very relieved it turned out to be a funny story. It says something about these times that I am expecting trauma at every turn.

anyone deeply interested in FBI stuff from a communist perspective should read a couple of books by Aaron Leonard called "Heavy Radicals" and "The Folk Singers and the Bureau". they're relatively avcessible and awesome in how they analyse and demonstrate actual FBI documents and stuff due to these texts i would reject the framing of the FBI being inept that the KJB squad builds. they are not really inept in terms of just people being too stupid to see things clearly. it is hegemonic ideology diverting and obfuscating otherwise rather obvious things

Robert Hanssen is the Second most famous person who lived in my neighborhood where I grew up. The most famous was John Wayne Gacy.
