Episode 23: Casino Royale (1967)
Some background here for if you're listening to this post-release:
At the time of release we implied heavily that this would be the Daniel Craig Casino Royale episode then as a fun prank pulled the rug and actually discussed the David Niven 1967 Casino Royale.

As someone from Florida, I immediately got and loved the tannerite dog joke
I feel like the Unprovoked Violence score should be high because the batshit script and nonexistent editing means that absolutely everything in the film is unprovoked.
Random aside, during the sexy cosplay hitler scene the depiction of a rabbi is probably the French painter Toulouse-Lautrec
Orson wells being omnicron owned so hard. And all of the interviews with him where he's just talking about transformers are hilarious.
This episode is probably the best to start this podcast, the weird boring start (not the editing Devon of course), the lull trying to resist laughter immediately followed by the surprise drop "de bussy" absolutely destroyed me. 10/10 would be fooled again
That gallowglass line fucking slew me.
"I have a Kaufman Star, Mr. Sellers. Believe me, I could shoot you fron Stuttgart and still create the proper effect..."
Love you lot! Shout out to the Christ Massive ❤️
I’m not disappointed by the choice to review this film. I am disappointed that we didn’t get a Bussy Clock joke out of it.
Wait, no GIRTH this time?!
Got em!
hahahah classic KJB
i JUST watched the modern Casino Royale in preparation for this episode. fuck y’all. lmao
thank you all for this; I'm getting booted out of my job 3 days before Christmas and things have, consequently, been a bit shit, but hearing you talk about ✨Debussy✨ has made me smile for the first time all month. I hope your holidays are good ones, and I'm so excited to hear the next bonus episode
as soon as you introduced all of you as james bond i knew what was happening, well done...fuck you...but very good
Can't believe that we in the stammering community get a stammering bond, something I (haven't) wanted been wanting since *checks notes* it was mentioned on this episode
i expect an enamel pin that in flagrant disobeyance of dress code i shall wear like a god damned sherrifs badge
Sir Billi when
I knew it!
I am absolutely giddy about the eventual Dante's Peak bonus episode
It is 6am and i was literally in tears laughing at this episode. Ya'll are good folk. As always thanks for these.
Unsubscribed, not the season to troll folks. Sorry for being a snowflake, this really ruined my night.
Bye
for more stories about Peter Sellers unpleasantness the movie Hoffman is a real goldmine. the director brought him in for the film adaptation (it was originally a stage play, then a tv adaptation with Donald Pleasance) because the producers wanted a big name, so of course Sellers immediately tried to fire him, realised what that would cost, then decided to let him direct it anyway supposedly the director Alvin Rakoff and Sellers became good friends over the course of the production until Sellers got more and more uncomfortable with how much the obsessive creep he was playing resembled his own personality at which point he tried to buy up the rights so he could have the negative destroyed. Rakoff is still alive and did some new interviews for the Blu-Ray release that's coming out next month so i bet he's got some juicy stories to tell
yesssss YESSSSSSSSSSS you 100% got me and i couldn't be happier to be made a fool of and when it comes to stupid jokes and references i bet Deborah Kerr's character running off to become a nun is just a Black Narcissus reference. literally just "oh remember how she's famous for being a nun in that one movie?"
I was young enough the first time I saw this that a lot of the sexy jokes went over my head, but I found the "wacky" bits hilarious. Also wow, fuck Peter Sellers.
BASTARDS! You GOT me! I was googling ‘deleted Casino Royale recruitment scene’ and everything, wondering how I could possibly have forgotten it and whether it had been added to the Blu-ray release or something…
Yesssssss I'm smiling so big right now.
Pain
At least the listeners get the chance to clip their own drop of: "What I would definitely make clear here is that they're trying to do jokes throughout: but none of them are landing."
All I can say is, double O fuck you. I subscribed to get my name read out on your casino royals podcast. Then you tell me that won’t happen which is specifically why I subscribed. Then you pull this shit. Well done, but fuck you.
Are you the Phil West Music from Brisbane, QLD or the one from Atlanta, GA or the one from Nottingham?
I don't know what it says about me that I saw the Patreon post and IMMEDIATELY knew what was up, but it certainly says something.
Heads up to listeners: In this one, they review Casino Royale.
Casino royale, the one with James Bond
:(
Haha, okay, you got me again. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a third time and I'm unsubscribing from your patreon.
"This means nothing for you" - Wrong, Devon, you mean everything to us 🥺
I've been wiggled!
Wait what movie are they reviewing?
25 minutes in and I have a feeling that this isn't Casino Royale.
I love brackets parasocially you guys so much
I'm so mad
I'm livid, expect to be wiggled
Which Bond is the biggest nonce, and why is the answer nobody else but [REDACTED]?
Was literally looking forward to the CR episode as a Christmas gift for myself and wow this is suddenly not a safe space.
Hooting and Hollering
ITS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!
YOU COWARDS
Wow okay egg on my face
One time when I was in 4th grade my mom allowed me to rent this movie. I have been mentally scarred by that one scene. But also I think I was confused by the brutality of it. Anyway so hype for the episode 🏄
Now Pay Attention 007, this is an ordinary Wicker Chair. But if you remove the seat it serves a secondary function.
Oh, I've made a fool of myself haven't I.
huh, my comment disappeared, in many ways this is 1984
oh i know why now lol
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO
