[public] August Notes: I’m Finally Moving

Hi! I’m Umami Aimitei.

It’s only the middle of August, but I thought I’d post this month’s update a little early.

That’s because the actual move is finally happening in just a few days. And the fiber internet at my new place is not scheduled to be connected until around the middle of September.

I’m going to be……without internet……for a while!!!!

Well, not completely. I’ll still have mobile data, but updating things from my PC as usual or sending large files around will probably be difficult for a while.

So I’m writing this while I still have a proper connection.

Apparently I’m Really Moving

Lately, I’ve mostly been packing and clearing things out.

I thought I had already gotten rid of a lot, but more stuff keeps appearing. Where is it coming from? The void?

Well, I have lived in this house for around twenty years, so I suppose that explains it...

I also said goodbye to my car. I was never very good at driving right up to the end, but I really did like its shape and color.

I’ve also given away or disposed of various pieces of furniture and household stuff, so it feels like my current life is slowly being dismantled piece by piece.

Over the past few months, I have taken more bullet trains than at any other point in my life. I tried online apartment viewings, traveled to see places myself whenever my health was good enough, and generally did a ridiculous number of things I had never done before.

And apparently, in just a few days, I am actually moving.

Really?

It still does not feel real at all.

Sometimes I go outside to take out the trash, see the summer sky and all the greenery looking exactly the way I love, and think, “The sky is this blue, so why am I moving right now????”

I mean, I know why. Winter is coming.

I’m not leaving because I started to dislike this place, so I think the whole thing may continue to feel a little strange right up until the end.

Health-wise, No Major Crash So Far

For about the past week, my health has been relatively stable without any major crashes.

My sleep and the discomfort around my upper abdomen still fluctuate, as usual, but if possible... I would really like to stay at about this level until the move is over...!

Please cooperate, body.

Also, a bodywork practitioner I’ve trusted for a long time introduced me to another practitioner near where I’m moving.

Of course, whether someone is personally a good fit is something you only find out after meeting them, but getting a “this person really knows what they’re doing” recommendation from someone I already trust is unbelievably valuable.

That kind of information is surprisingly hard to find on your own, so it has been a major source of reassurance.

I hope I can gradually build up a few places and people I can turn to when I need help in my new area too.

Games and Other Things

It is far too hot outside, so I have mostly given up on going for walks.

Impossible. Too hot.

Instead, I’ve been playing Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade while walking on my WalkingPad. It is extremely fun.

I’m playing video games while exercising, so I’m not sure whether this is healthy behavior or advanced gamer behavior.

I also signed up for Futaket 37.

A new book……does not exist!

I should have a few older books, and there may be some original drawings. Something like that.

I just really wanted to absorb the power of Futaket... It is a uniquely wonderful space that I love very much.

After the move, I’ll also get to figure out the route from my new home to the event venue, which I’m looking forward to a little. I think the feeling of “oh, so this is how I go to events now” will be strangely new.

Anyway

For now, my highest priority is simply making sure both my belongings and I successfully arrive at the new place.

After that I still have to set up my living space, put the bed in place, unpack everything, build my workspace...

Am I actually capable of doing all of this properly? No idea.

But I have made it this far, so I’ll just deal with things one at a time.

Will the next update come from my new home? After the fiber connection finally arrives? Or will I end up writing something over mobile data? Who knows.

For now, this is what pre-move Aimitei looks like!
