[Public] June Update: Human Infrastructure Maintenance Month

In June, I kept looking at thermometers.

When I woke up, before bed, even when I woke up in the middle of the night…

All I want is to sleep normally.

The temperature around my bed hasn’t been very stable, and more and more, I can’t tell from my own body alone whether I’m too hot or too cold.

So I’ve had to rely on numbers.

What I really want is to live without having to look at thermometers at all.

I want a bed where I can think, “I’ll probably sleep fine tonight,” and a home where I can live with a sense of safety.

To get there, I’m trying to untangle several things I’ve been putting off for years.

Bedding, housing, belongings, health, creative work—

I pull on one string, and another tangled string comes out from somewhere deeper.

What is this? Earphones?

But if I put it off again here, it’ll probably only become even more of a mess later.

So I’m dealing with it now.

“Today is the youngest I’ll ever be.”

A spell that works, apparently.

So, hello. This is Aimaitei Umami.

Over this past month, I’ve been trying to rebuild my health after crashing in May, while also getting the foundation of my life back into shape so I can return to creating.

Basically, I’ve been doing the groundwork that comes before the actual creative work.

My human infrastructure is aging too, you know… so I’m trying to maintain it one part at a time.

Extremely plain.

But probably extremely important.

🛌 About my bedding

My bedding situation has now fully entered the stage of, “Ah, this isn’t a hobby. This is infrastructure.”

If it were a hobby, it would be fun.

But when infrastructure breaks, that’s just a problem.

Bed, you were infrastructure all along?

I’ve been saying for a while that I need to do something about my sleep environment, and this month I finally started seriously reconsidering my mattress.

The conditions are:

no lower back pain,

no upper back getting too cold,

no situation where only my butt gets too hot,

being able to turn over naturally,

and waking up feeling like I have successfully rebooted as a human being.

All I want is to sleep normally.

Why are there so many requirements?

After a lot of thinking, I’ve more or less settled on the direction for my new sleep setup.

It’s going to be a fairly big purchase, but continuing this nightly “bed gacha” for the long term seems more painful, so I think this is something worth properly investing in.

Just sleeping should be enough to recover.

I feel like that should be normal.

Maybe things have been a little too much like a strategy game up until now.

That said, I still can’t escape the final gacha of “whether it actually suits my body once I sleep on it.”

Still, even reaching the point where I can take that gamble feels like a pretty big step for me.

🏡 About where I live

I live in this house, and yet it drains my HP.

That may sound philosophical, but in practice it is simply inconvenient.

There are things I like about my current place. I especially love how much light comes in. There are also parts of it that genuinely help me.

But when I think about the burden in winter, the difficulty of managing temperature, and how hard it is to get around, it feels a bit too difficult as a long-term base for continuing creative work.

And those issues are only going to get harder year by year.

Home, please be on my side~~~~~~~~~~~.

So I’ve been talking to a real estate agent and looking at possible areas to move to.

I’m not at the stage where I’m deciding immediately, and finding a place that meets my conditions is not easy. Reality is harsh.

Even so, my mindset has changed from,

“I’d like to move before winter if I can,”

to,

“Oh. I really am going to move.”

Reality really does arrive quite suddenly.

📦 Lightening my belongings and daily life

I’ve also been reducing my belongings little by little in preparation for moving.

I’ve been sending off things I no longer need, reorganizing equipment, and moving forward with getting my duvet remade.

I had a lot of storage cases, but once the things inside them are gone, it turns out the cases themselves become unnecessary too.

Obvious, apparently.

A small recent achievement was reusing some parts from a pallet bed I no longer use as a stand for my UPS and router.

The pallet didn’t suit me as a bed, but now it has started its second life as an equipment stand.

Wood also has many paths.

These small improvements to daily life really do make me feel lighter when they add up.

Life has too many minigames.

I would like to progress the main story soon.

🍏 About my health

My health is still coming in waves.

Or rather, it has just been waves for a while now.

Is this the ocean? Maybe the Sea of Japan.

My tolerance for food and going out is slowly coming back, but that also comes in waves.

There are still plenty of days when my condition is simply not good.

I’ve been carefully rebuilding my meals around things like mixed-grain rice, potage, eggs, yogurt, and amazake.

Curry, which I love, and gyoza, which I also love, still seem out of reach for now…

But I live my life imagining how good they’ll taste when I can finally eat them again.

I look forward to the eventual return of my favorite foods.

I still have issues with my upper abdomen, my back, and my sleep, but I’m slowly becoming able to sort things into categories like:

“This tends to make things worse.”

“This can help me recover a little.”

“This doesn’t need to be done right now.”

That said, honestly, debugging the human body is such a pain~~~~.

This was never a genre I was good at, but I suppose when something has been in use for long enough, maintenance becomes important, whether it’s a tool or a person.

If I can’t replace it, I guess I have to work with it.

So I’ll try to handle this body slowly and carefully, according to its condition.

🎨 About creating

As for actual creative work, honestly, I haven’t been able to make much progress this month.

Recovering from the health crash in May, and doing all this groundwork around bedding, housing, and decluttering, has taken up most of my capacity.

It feels like I’m making a place to return to.

For now, I’m starting with creating the conditions where I can draw again.

📝 Summary

So my June was basically a month where I:

seriously reconsidered my bedding,

started thinking about moving in a more realistic way,

lightened my belongings and equipment little by little,

and, while still being pushed around by my health, worked on building the foundation I need in order to return to creating.

It’s not a flashy update, but I think this is a groundwork period.

For now, I’ll keep getting my life, my health, and my creative environment into a more sustainable shape.

I’ll keep working on the foundation a little longer, aiming for the day when I can finally remove thermometers from my equipment loadout.

I want to unequip them so badly.

Thank you so much, as always, for watching over me.

Your comments, reactions, and support through this site really do encourage me day by day.

Please take care of yourselves too.

Let’s each keep going at our own pace, in our own places, while resting when we need to.

Time is finite, so let’s try to savor it as much as we can.

I’ll post again when I have something I can write about or some progress to share.

See you next time! ノシ
