I Need Your Help
Hey everyone,
This is a hard post to write. I thought I could do it, but asking for help is hard, and awkward. But I do need it, and if you're reading this, then The Wandering Inn means a lot to you. Whether you've just arrived or if you were there from Volume 1, you've helped me get to where I am today. And today I'm both happy but also nervous to have a physical book coming out and get it into the world where so many people will see it for the first time.
I know the books haven't hit shelves yet, and it feels like August is a long ways away but this moment right now is super important in the business world. How many books are pre-ordered early tell bookstores and companies how many books to order and how big The Wandering Inn readers base is. It will enable more books to come to print, and projects that I think are impossible now to come to life. Dungeon Crawler Carl is becoming a TV show, and Cradle is becoming an animation. I have lots I'd love to do but big companies need to see numbers to be willing to work with web serials.

Brandon Sanderson kickstarted a hardcover edition series at least once. I wonder if that's an option for doing a hardcover version of book one.
i just happened to look up the line about cursive writing in this world cuz I nearly spat my drink out of my nose when I heard it in the audio book. i happened to click the view patreon link and this is the first I'm hearing this is coming out as a book!!! I've preordered right away with B&N. question, no hard cover? having a collectors edition hard cover on my hard cover only book shelf would be f'ing amazing. This series is some of the most incredible story telling. sometimes is slows a bit but then you write something that hits so hard that I know I just heard something incredibly wondrous. For instance I just finished this morning the chapters from Rhir and for a bit I just wanted to get back to Erin but holy cow. you so quickly developed characters that I grew excited to see recruited and then... dead gods, tears. good thing I listen to the books cuz I wouldn't have been able to read.

Just joined yesterday and saw this post. I was delighted to pre-order through our outstanding local bookstore, Village Books, here in Bellingham, WA. I was even more delighted to discover that others had already pre-ordered through VB before me! When the books ship, I may try to put together a “Guests of the Wandering Inn” get together here.

My friend runs a cat cafe book/manga shop. I called him up and he's putting some into stock. They have a white Pomeranian too called Mei Sha, which is chinese for plum blossom or something. Pure coincidence. He has no idea Wandering Inn exists. But its quite a funny and cool coincidence cuz the name is sorta similar to Mrsha.

In Australia. Amazon.com.au allows me to pre-order Feb 2027 arrival of Book 1 part 1 and book 2 part 1. Have ordered them. It says book 1 part 2 is already sold out ?? Hope that’s a good sign rather than a glitch. 😊

I pre-ordered book 1 p1 from my country's amazon (as I wouldn't get free shipping from another country's amazon), but p2 and book 2 p1 are double the price for some reason and book 2 p2 is not available. Is that something you can fix?

I've done my part from France - I can confirm the Waterstones website advised here was very easy to use!
Does this mean it's been professionally edited? :P I think I must, once I have the cash, just to see the differences. Also, I'm currently attempting to turn a twenty-year-old short story about what amounts to a Large Reasoning Model into a full novel before my science fiction becomes historical fiction. So this qualifies as research, if only because I'm trying to match standard paperback margins so it doesn't look odd typeset. And it's urgent research: My Google editor/protagonist projects the deadline as the middle of next year. "Fifty years away and always will be"; only I could find a way to make an empty promise itself an empty promise... . On the other hand, I'm unconvinced ITER will be running even by next year's end and knew twenty years ago that the first prototype test data would be largely from tokamaks, of limited value to stellarators. Knowing where instabilities are most likely to form in a completely different field isn't completely useless, but "the difference is negligible."

Another thing you can do is ask your local library to purchase a copy for their collection. While that won't add to the sales numbers that much, it will help get the book out to more people.

I think a bookstore of any kind works. Barnes and Nobles has some value but supporting a local bookstore or doing one that's convenient is still another book sold!

I pre-ordered all 4 when I first got the announcement. Since I had just finished a reread of TWI I was wondering how I could best add it to my bookshelf. I was considering just printing out some covers and wrapping other worse books with them but then the announcement came and the problem solved itself.
It will help a lot more if everything u do and try to sell is not "just for the USA ,Canada and/or UK" there are more people in the EU then in the other 3 together, just saying as a hint ;)

Hey everyone!!! ATTENTION If you can't afford to purchase it or just want another way to help TWI, then ordering it at your local libraries and book stores would be massively helpful. 99% of libraries take any requests, it is just the matter of funding and interest that officially decides it
THAT is very helpful and good advice, thanks. Putting TWI on library shelves might not be as lucrative, at least initially, but in terms of sharing the story and expanding the audience it's ideal. And there's SOOOOO much garbage YA and/or fantasy stuff out there, which this definitely is not. pirateaba entertains, but not solely for the sake of entertainment nor as pure didacticism either; it's just a story that says things that are meaningful along the way, but it's a field: The meaning couldn't be conveyed without the story to catch and hold our interest, but our time and interest would be wasted absent meaning to give it substantive value. Monetary and otherwise. So having it in bookstores would be great, but having it in school and other local libraries would be much better. Too bad it's written like a WoT book; 640 pages... maybe wait till middle school... .

I'm guessing for the US it's about getting physical copies stocked in stores. Since Amazon doesn't have a physical presence, it wouldn't directly "count" towards getting on a physical bookshelf at B&N stores. That said, I'm sure they're appreciative of *any* book pre-order as they will still count towards sales numbers for the publisher.
