The future of Pure
This is an announcement! This is not a release!
After many attempts to transform Pure to support “Linear Color Space” (LCS), I came to the conclusion that Pure utilizes too many workaround strategies to look great in “Gamma Color Space” (Gamma). Unfortunately, those workarounds turned out to be incompatible with LCS shaders. So I had no choice but to take drastic measures in order to ensure long term compatibility with LCS.
Pure 0.271 is being renamed to “Pure Gamma” and is now considered version 1.0. Pure in its current state is a done deal for me. Its lighting calculations are, in my opinion, absolutely suitable and the optimum that can be achieved with Gamma shaders.
However, to achieve even better results with LCS, I decided to build the future Pure on an already existing and functional basis.
I use the “default” weather style from Ilja and will incorporate all the features that make Pure so special:
The skydomes, its realistic light levels in daylight condition, extended ambient lighting, the advanced exposure calculation, its scripting interface and therefore the interface for modders as well as the control via Pure Config are part of the new “Pure LCS”.
The initial release of Pure LCS at the beginning of July will contain all of Pure's basic elements. The follow up release in early September will add skydomes and Pure's shaders, such as sunblinding-, groundfog-, lightning- and the landscape shader. With this update the basic re-work will be completed and a new foundation for further development is created.
Currently all Pure LCS features are working so nothing stands in the way of an early July release.

Yes, but there are always new people and the video is the first thing that is linked in the update posts. I'd like to do it differently but if i remove a thing it instantly is asked again. But i understand your point! It is like organizing things in a chat. Maybe there will be an improvement.

Hi, ever since I installed CSP 0.2.5 the allocated wiper buttons no longer work, only when I have "Turn wipers on and off automatically" in weather effect can I have wipers. Although they do not work if it is not raining, but the track is still wet. I can't see where I am going :-(

What version of CSP fits with pure 0.271? I get errors with all of them.
You need CSP 0.2 at least like described in the Pure update post. I guess you did not install it right. What error do you get? Open CSP Lua Debug app in-game. If there is a red dot, switch to that tab, expand the error and make a screenshot.
Yes everything is installed properly to my knowledge I've not had any issues with it all but figured things were still under construction when I say the empty skybox. I have not been able to figure out how to properly set up pp filters there are so may to choose from that I've made a real mess with them that I'm working on getting figured out. Most all PP filters for me are way, way to dark way to dark. I'll get it figured I'm sure it's my fault somewhere.
Maybe better you come to Pure Discord server. There you can report it and post screenshots. It's much better to give help there. Link your Discord account in Patreon settings - more - connected apps and you will automatically connected and get a role to access the Pure channels.
Sorry its my first day, I forget that Enter is for posting and not breaking line! How do I know if im using or seeing LCS and is LCS a project sill in progress? Now when I use Gamma setting with LCS box ticked that is where I get confused with what is actually being displayed. Thank you for the input
There is no LCS skybox. If you select Pure Gamma, you use Gamma shaders automatically. If you use Pure LCS, you use LCS shaders automatically. For now Pure LCS has no Skydomes and shaders like lightnings or groundfog. This will come with the next version early September.
I am looking for some understanding in the way the new LCS sys, there are LCS specific PP Filters and there are Gamma filters. I the weather choices I can choose Gamma or LCS but what happens is I get a black or empty if you will, skybox.
Did you watch the install video? Install the newest Pure 1.45 like shown in the install video! If you use CSP 0.2.3p1 install the latest hotfix for Pure. Please just try with the Pure PPfilters, those are multi platform PPfilters for Pure LCS or Pure Gamma. Just try with the "pure" filter for now.

Hey folks. I've been away from AC for a while. My last pure was .252. I'm a little confused by the announcements. I was going to update. Please correct me if I am wrong.My upgrade path is currently .271. The future is Pure LCS.
Yes. There are 2 Pure versions now. Pure Gamma, which is the old Pure like you know and Pure LCS, which is a new weather style supporting LCS shaders. Pure LCS has not all the features of Pure Gamma for now, like Skydomes and shaders like sunblinding or lightnings. But with the next upcoming version of Pure LCS, it has Skydomes and it's shaders again and will be more efficient than Pure Gamma. But in the current Pure LCS version you can already use the basic features and you can se the much better color composition.

well the install video recently changed after being the same for ages with .bat files. that is why. people were used to updating with .bats files. recently Pure updates after the great Ilja updates have got worse.. its like Pure should just stick to 0.179.. as it seems Pure has gone backwards in the last year, while CSP has made Pure redundant, except for skydomes.

when i use gamma pure , in game low fps what happen ????? i think skydom. if i start game , always turn on the sky dome and happen error my pp filter ( my opinion ) my computer spec gtx 1060 .

Hello Peter, there is no "install.bat" just uninstall.bat. After Uninstall we just need to drag and drop those folders to the main AC root folder right?

I have followed every tutorial but when i launch the game theres nothing in my pure config and when im in content manager choosing the weather, it have any pure options.
Maybe please go to the Pure Discord Server. It seems you did not install it properly.
Which filter is the best to select for realism? i dont know different between PureHDR, purecandy, etc
"best" is always subjective. pureCandy is to have some more camera effects. pureHDR is for HDR monitors. Just try the "pure" PPfilter and open Pure Config app, switch to PP tab and then use the "photorealistic" slider. There you can adjust the level of "Photorealism" you need. It always depends on yourself what type of graphics you need for immersion. So there is no best PPfilter. You just try out some and decide what is the best for you. If you have an HDR monitor then you should definitely try pureHDR, but please read the HDR tutorial pdf in the pure archive before trying it.

I have both CSP 0.2.3. 2.11 and pure 0.272 however I can't use it! in game and the pure config app. it staals on the consent page, and no matter what i press, nothing happens. it just keeps blinking on that page... What i'm i doing wrong here? (yeah i know i need to accept the consent of rapid flickering lights....)

Thats not right! Pure can't ruin your game! Please follow the install video and do all the steps you see there! If you open the ingame CSP Lua Debug app and there is 1 or more red points, then you didn't install it right. If there is a red dot an error occurs and slows down the whole system and the graphics are broken. So please install it right!

Hi Peter, Id like to hear from you on how you plan your future work with the Upcoming Assetto Corsa EVO, will you continue your work on AC Only ?
There are no informations about AC EVO yet. So how do I know about, what is modable in it. Imo AC/CSP will still live further and there will be new features that will keep it relevant besides the new racing games. It's all about how easy it is creating a mod. If AC EVO has the ability to do mods on the graphics/weather side, sure I will have look on it and try something. But actually there are too less informations right now to even do speculation about it.
Looks great dude, the only issue I can see is the nightime photos- I wish the light was more evenly distributed rather then it just gets cut off. Almost like a dropoff in the ocean, None the less it looks very nice!!!
You can control this in the pure PPfilter script via the "photo realism" slider. The pictures are made with high value of photo realism. But if the slider is low, there is no cut anymore!
very excited for september's release, or whenever it gets to a suitable spot for you, but I'm definitely happy with the current pure as it stands. it never fails to impress how dedicated you are to this project.

LCS currently uses about 15% more memory than Gamma. Will it stay that way?
What memory do you mean? On my side VRAM usage is a little less in LCS mode. RAM usage is a little higher in LCS but like 3% or so. Maybe it depends if you use extraFX and such CSP features. But actually it should not be different in Gamma or LCS. It's just a different shader set and not any different textures.

Brilliant. A few questions. 1) Will Pure Gamma receive any updates in the future or is the codebase frozen? 2) Will Pure LCS also integrate Pure Planner, starting from the early July release? 3) Will Pure LCS's september release bring it to the "completion" level of the current Pure Gamma, only with LCS support, so any release past that will be ad advancement on what we currently have? I hope the questions are clear, if not please let me know. Thanks!
1) Just bugfixes 2) Pure Gamma + LCS is a complete package with all part like Pure Config and Pure planner + Pure controller. And Pure LCS will also support the direct override from Pure Planner. Otherwise weather style and weather controllers are separated things. Pure Planner and Pure controller is separated from the weather script, except the direct weather override for online session. But i try to build this in for the first release. 3) Yes, i try to get all parts in with this release. Maybe finetuning and optimizations will come in an additional release. And sure there will be new things after that. But then only for Pure LCS.

Is it a CSP bug that in the last screenshot all the cars are driving in their very own dry patch? It's like they have a forcefield that dries the track under them.. Anyway, this news sound good, really looking forward to it!

No, the first release does not have skydomes and the Pure shaders. This will need another big work on it, but it will be integrated with the second release.

The current Pure is Pure Gamma. But if you mean Pure LCS (the new Pure), idk. But i'm already at a very decent state. But small things and fine tuning needs time. But also, Pure LCS has new graphical possibilities. First i want to finish all the Pure features integration. But the first release of it in some weeks will show you that lighting is already better than Pure Gamma...
