Spell Illustration | Burning Hands
Illustrated by Chui Wizard.
Hey all!
We have a great new entry into our Spell Illustration collection, a wonderful rendition of a wizards delving into the dungeons of the world and encountering a troupe of goblins lining up nicely for a little introduction to Burning Hands.
One of the things I loved was including the specific hand gesture mentioned in the spell, as well as the gritty feel of the area this wizard is exploring.
Here's how the spell works, as written:
Burning Hands
Level 1 Evocation (Sorcerer, Wizard)
Casting Time: Action
Range: Self
Components: V, S
Duration: Instantaneous
A thin sheet of flames shoots forth from you. Each creature in a 15-foot Cone makes a Dexterity saving throw, taking 3d6 Fire damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. Flammable objects in the Cone that aren't being worn or carried start burning.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot.
The damage increases by 1d6 for each spell slot above 1.
As a reminder, this project is to illustrate the various spells in D&D, ranging from wizards to warlocks to bards to clerics and everything in between.
I hope you guys enjoy the illustration and I will continue to update you on the project.

I like the graphic, but, to me, that's more like a Firebolt than Burning Hands. The Burning Hands spell effect is a 15-foot-long, cone-shaped sheet of fire, and the illo does not reflect this.
I imagine it fanning out from where it is now. I can see what you're saying, but sometimes it's up the artist's interpretation. Appreciate the feedback.
I love this
