Yester Hill | Curse of Strahd Map Pack!

Hey guys!

This Map Pack was designed around the location Yester Hill from the module, Curse of Strahd, but can certainly be used to support any narrative or homebrew campaign you may have that includes some shady business atop an old hill.

In the module, Yester Hill is home to druids that worship the vampire, Strahd, at the edge of his domain. The hill is a burial site featuring several cairns spread about the concentric circles surrounding its center. Atop the hill, there is a large black stone enclosure that features a wooden statue bearing a stark resemblance to Strahd.

Further up the hill is a large gnarled tree, whose dark roots run deep throughout the blighted wood, creating foul creatures within the land of Barovia. The western edge of the woods is filled with mist and fog, and thunder rumbles as lightning occasionally strikes the hilltop. Druids dance within the mist, working rituals toward the betterment of their dark lord, which seems like a great thing for most PC's to investigate.

This was a collaboration with James RPG Art, who provided a wonderful concept scene from his Curse of Strahd collection to match the map.

James' RPG Art makes animated scenes to help players visualise environments and add immersion and tone to your games. He has created over 300 scenes from official WotC adventures and many unique locations that are often found in a D&D adventure. He releases 4 new locations each month for his patrons.

The Map Pack contains a Day/Evening version for all tiers, as I figured it would be quite likely that many people would want to be able to visit in both environments. Here's a look at those maps:

In addition to the Day/Evening versions, Tier 3+ Patrons will receive a variant map that features a Witch's Hut atop the hill, which could serve as a social or combat encounter, depending on how you wish to present it to the players.

How would I use this map?

You could certainly use this map as intended for the Curse of Strahd module encounter, or you could have it be the ritual place of a powerful enclave of druids, some dangerous cultists, a necromancer attempting to raise the ancestors of this burial mound or any number of appropriate narratives.

The Witch Hut variant also provides a backdrop for you to run a Hag or Witch out of this location, either fighting the party, employing them or taking the guise of another figure that guides them toward some greater purpose they do not understand.
