Modding Diary - Fostering babies and Upcoming CC
Hi guys! I hope you all are doing well! Sorry I was MIA last week, I was getting beat up by a bug which I will talk more about later. But I got a TON of stuff to show you today! 😎
First off I am working with a super talented 3D modeller named Ashley to bring you guys a hospital CC pack, you can check out some of her past work here on her Instagram or ArtStation. We started working on this at the beginning of December and I am super excited with how they turned out. I know many of you enjoy building your own hospitals, and I’ve always felt the in-game hospital items are a bit lackluster, which is why we decided to work on this project. Some of these objects are exclusively for the childbirth mod, but rest are general hospital items. The childbirth mod items are not meant to replace what I already have in the mod, rather they can be added to your game as CC.
First She did a new design for the yoga ball, and it looks so much better than my old one lol
Then she did two new designs for the birth pool, all of these objects have a bunch of different swatches.
The baby formula got a new look too. TBH I have always disliked how my original baby formula looked and I think this one is so much better
And finally, the ultrasound machine has been refreshed with mesh improvements and several new swatches.
That is all we have for the childbirth mod related items. We are also planning on adding some regular hospital furniture and this week we have the couch set finished. This could be something you can put in the hospital lobby
Each of these items comes with 8 different swatches and I think they turned out really well.
Next week we are gonna work on making a new design for the exam bed and I can't wait to show it to you guys.😎
Now on to the drama mod:
This week I added more interactions you can use on the CPS worker during their visit. (i love how the game choose geoffrey landgraab to be CPS this time)
This is what they might say if you ask about the baby's future
and this is what they might say if you ask about potential fostering/adoption
And when you are ready you can give the baby to the CPS worker by clicking on the baby carrier
After you give the baby to CPS you can then sign up to foster
If you sign up to foster this baby in case if they can't find the parents you will get a phone call sometimes within the next 2 days
While you are waiting, whats better than talking about your feelings with your SO who may or may not feel the same about the baby and potentially start a fight?🙂(believe or not this part took me all day to make)
If the SO also want to foster the baby they will be understanding and supportive, both sims will get a moodlet which I will not be showing here today. However if they dont want to foster the baby they have a different response
and there is a 50% chance your sim will get a negative moodlet that allows you to confront the SO
as long as the SO isnt in a stressed, angry or sad mood, and as long as they are not hotheaded they will be able to be understanding and still be supportive even if they dont feel the same
However if you talk to them at a bad time they will be way more annoyed and it will result in a argument
there's a 50% chance they will end up finding custody for the baby, in which case you will not get to foster. Sims who want to foster the baby will get a sad moodlet
And if they can't find any relatives for the baby you will get to go get the baby immediately
This pop up right here is what made me question reality last week. Getting this to show up was not the hard part but getting the baby to show up in the correct skintone was. It took some custom script but I was able to figure it out in the end.
your sim will enter a rabbit hole to complete the fostering process
And when they come back you will get to name the baby and add them to your household
Lastly I was able to make it so that the baby you take in has a chance of belonging to an occult. This again took me all day but I was able to make my baby a mermaid.
Just when I thought everything was working, I realized this feature would cause an LE if the mod attempts to assign a mermaid baby if you don't have the mermaid pack(island living?) installed 🙃 The suffering never ends. but that’s a problem for next week’s me.
