FIRST TIME WATCHING: Attack on Titan S4E80

To give you a sense of the writing, the first episode was titled To You, in 2,000 years. The whole show goes full circle.

I’m sure you’ve made the connections but this episode shows that what Marley/the world was saying about the Eldian empire is likely more truth than fiction. Of course in no way is that agreeing with their treatment of the Eldians now. But as a history buff, the Eldian Empire to me seems like a stand-in adjacent of the Roman Empire if it existed for two thousand years. Yes, they built the roads, aqueducts, and brought about technologies to many places. They were also a massive slave empire that had a severe social caste system (the Eldian Empire differentiated true-blooded Eldians with Subjects of Ymir, who were non-Eldians whose ancestors were essentially r*ped by Eldians). History is very messy and uncomfortable, and I applaud the AoT writer not giving us a clear black and white backstory. Marley is a fascist, war-mongering, oppressive government, and the Eldian Empire before it was no better.

THE RUMBLING!!! Such an intense episode! Eren had been acting a fool for a while now but, in my eyes, hes officially unforgivable 😞 Also I think Ymir was still a child when she died wasn’t she? Didn’t she die at 13 or something which is why Titan lifespan is so limited?

Love how the end of this episode was foreshadowed back in Episode 25

Thanks for everything you do, Nat!

I think now is a great time to quickly revisit the ending of season 2. You will see a lot of familiar things that were impossible to understand without further context, that some of us waited for years. It just shows you the level of foreshadowing this show possess.

Idk if your watching it in japanese or english but je japanese voice actors for eren and grisha are fk amazing, you should check it out if you watched it in english.

Yeh it is my favorite intro. Now that you have seen this one... I can talk about what the intro actually is... Now that you know what the Attack Titan actually does and watch the intro you can tell what is actually happening. This is all Eren's current point of view. We see all of the 9 during diferent battles, eren as a child, eren walking on the walls, the marleyans as they train, the paradisians as they train, the rumbling, all the way to Ymir and the origin of the titans. That is because once Eren gained full access of the founding titan, WHILE holding the Attack Titan, all of time past present and future is within eren's view all scrambled like that. And just after you see children Eren, Armin and Mikasa runing and you see in very quick succession Eren in diferent eras of his life, at the very end you get a glipse of what looks like a thumb print... I believe you can gather now that that is in fact Eren in his Founding Titan Form with all of the collosals around him. People call that a spoiler, but it's just story telling. The intro is placing us in that messed up hard to comprehend visual that Eren has. I love it.

Let’s get ready to… RUMBLEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Brilliant! I don't think I've ever been so happy to get less content :P I guess you can tell why it makes sense to sit with this episode for a minute before moving on.

imagine being gabi, thinking you killed the worlds biggest opposition only for one second to pass and you see a boss's health bar fill up.

Guys, what she meant by "Widow's Peak" is that she is going to start watching both 'Widow's Bay" and "Twin Peaks" interchangeably each week so it's extra confusing. She might watch them out of sequence, too. Maybe in another language (or backwards?) It's gonna be cool, you'll see.

If you can, make some time to watch the first 2 or 3 minutes of the series' first episode; read the episode title and watch the scene where Eren wakes up from a nap under a tree next to Mikasa.

Ngl i have no idea what widows peak is, which is weird because so many of my ads are show and movie related.

Nat’s going to be headbanging during the theme song before too long

Important reminder to watch the post credit scene in episode 82. Excited for next week.

That new theme is kinda infections. It does grow on you! Some things you might not have noticed: When Ymir appeared in the Paths there were only three branches. These were her daughters. As they had children and reproduced the paths got more and more branches. Ymir was in her child form because of what trauma does to children. It stunts their growth and locks them into their childhood trauma which they then repeat onto others. The entire story is about how kids trauma affects kids and in turn affects the world. Ymir just wanted to be loved and that's why she refused to disobey the King for so long. She thought that was the only way she could be loved.

Yay! We're finally getting Scarface!

You mean "Widow’s Bay," right?

the title is a call back to the first episode "to you 2000 years from now." when people blamed ymir for the pigs getting out, there were 13 hands. 13 representing how many years a person has with the titan power and how long she lived. she wouldve lived longer but by fritz still calling her a slave even when she took a spear for him, she lost the will to live to heal herself. and the flower she saw when she was shot with an arrow had 9 petals. 9 power of the titans. now we know that what eldia did was true, they killed so many people with the help of ymir. btw, about why ymir still obeyed is its like an elephant with a tree. tie a baby elephant to a small tree and it will try to break free but cant, no matter how hard it pulls. do the same with the same elephant when its older to the same tiny tree and it wont even try. its been conditioned that it cant move from that tree. like people have said before THIS is what willy was rallying people against paradis for. because before, with the founding titans power in the hand of royal descendants, the rumbling was an impossibility, but with it in the hands of eren, is a possibility unless they stopped them.

"Oh shit!" is kinda the perfect reaction. I remember when I first watched it I had been convinced for a while that Eren wasn't gonna go along with the Euthanisation, so kinda like Armin I proclaimed "YES, HE DID IT!". Then, probably as every Subject of Ymir, my stomach dropped the deepest it ever has as Eren went mask off.

Post credit scene in episode 82

Eren is like Magneto without a Xavier.

i love buffy, and attack on titan! yey.

Widow's Peak, what's that? Rare there's a show I've never even heard the name of so this is gonna be interesting :D

I waited 2000 years for this reaction

Happy Monday Nat. Hope you had an awesome weekend too. Enjoyed the streams a lot. Looking forward to watching more Buffy and Scarface. Great line-up this week. Let's see what these crazy Titans are up to today 😊 Great flashback in this episode, and that finale 😮 Excited for the next one.
